@fehquig i honestly dont know... normally they are reused, so if they only use it at the shorelines, they can probably clean em, i hadnt read anything about the disposal process.

I commend your enthusiasm and determination. However, BP is NOT accepting any hair; any hair donated will go to a warehouse, and sold to wiggeries for profit. Secondly, this oil spill is bigger than you think. Let me put it this way so that you may glean the magnitued of the situation in the Gulf. If every man, woman, child, dog, cat, gerbal, ferret, cow, ect..on the planet shaved their bodies bald, it would not even touch the amount of oil presently in the Gulf.
@briankofke well, they are still accepting hair at matter of trust, and one of my subs mentioned they are using the hair booms as we speak in Louisiana. I am fully aware of the extent of this, hence the video..
@briankofke also They are estimating 210,00 gallons leaking into the water per day. They suspect that number is higher though.
With that being said, in order to keep it off the shore, the hair booms are used on land, doesnt fix the problem, just helps. Gotta patch the hole, period.
Good ideas and I had heard of it. I am not willing to give up my hair but might have some old pantyhose I could send. I don't do panyhose whatsoever anymore either. I definately could of had the pet groomer save the cats hair though.

Thanks for mentioning this Cinder! As you know I live in New Orleans and the oil is terrible its already in the marsh which is really bad for the animals and such. Its horrible for everyone here and around the world, seafood restaurants are closing down left and right. And yes they are using the hair booms for the marsh areas they don't sink there and work wonderfully. I have 4 family members including my son out of work b/c of all this. What a mess!!!
@darlynn12 I know... I have seen the live feed, and the photos, and videos. Its so bad! It just keeps coming too, which is worse... and even worse this will affect SO many things. People, food, jobs, animals, tourists. I mean thats all profit and life, right down the drain. With the economy where it is, this might finish our asses off. Hey Cinder. Great to see you vlogging! I read yesterday that now they're not going to use the hair booms because they sink to quickly. They need to use the hair and everything else they can find to mop up that mess! Keep the videos coming. -Jim
@CountryComesToTown well, look up on YT hay to clean oil spill. They also want to use hay... they showed a demonstration and the hay doesnt sink and soaks it right up! The video I saw was of some farmer, in a pair of damn overalls talking about how simple this is to clean up... bigger problem is of course the leak. 200,000+ gallons leaking out daily... they think way more, but thats what BP is claiming... they have lived about this whole thing anyhow, so expect that to go WAY higher. UGH!
@CountryComesToTown even if BP doesnt use it the hair, someone can, for clean up at least at the shores. It certainly wont hurt, who cares if it sinks... is hair going to hurt the ocean floor and life WORSE than that much oil... I dont think so. BP just doesnt want to cut off the resource to the oil entirely, so they arent fixing it. Worse than the US government, im tellin ya.
@CinderFNRella according to NBC - they "still need the hair." they are using it to absorb the oil..and the sinking hair absorbs the oil beneath the surface.
@bearchay889 well i have donated to locks before as well... 8 inches to be exact... but this is serious, 200,000+ gal leaking into the gulf daily, 34 days in a row... sea life is dying... and the gulf of mexico provides 30% of our seafood, not to mention jobs for fisherman etc. Its really bad =(
@CinderFNRella I know how bad it is if i wern't donating because of an unlce of mine that's close to gone from cancer i'd lop mine off right now and send it.But i can try and talk to my younger brother who has a super mop on his head and try and get him to i also live near a pretty big hippy town i could go around a scalpe a few.

Im going to talk to a few of my neighborhood salons and suggest they think about keeping and shipping the hair, the people here are rich and LOVE to make themselves look good, they will do it for the praise, but even if thats the wrong reason, at least they might do it lol
