  • Its nice that Chevy made it so easy to replace, but, these belts routinely last 2-3 times as long on Japanese cars, what gives?

  • Is the music really necessary?

  • @pricetylerd Absolutely not! It won't happen again.

  • @roadragecustoms I appreciate it.

  • Dude THANKS A BUNCH!!! im glad Chevy made it so easy to do this! And with your help it should be a piece of cake... Of to the garage!

  • thank i just made $40.00 in 10 min....lol. Thanks for the vid...!!!!

  • Great video. I followed your instructions and replaced it in less than half an hour. I did not raise the car up though. It was a little tight, but I was able to replace it fine with the car on the ground.

  • Why you didn't 1-3 label? Why you didn't install new timing belt tensr and timing belt idler? I think it important parts.

    Thank you for video.

  • @zaebaliize I wasn't replacing the timing belt. I was replacing the serpentine belt. I didn't have the timing belt cover off. Why should I replace unrelated parts that aren't bad, or due for service?

  • Actually, the service procedure for the aveo is to replace the belt tensioner along with the belt. This has two advantages first of all it's what chevy recommends second it prevents having to deal with a failed tensioner and thirdly the newer tensioner from gates is now a metal pulley insted of the plastic ones. The plastic ones tend to warp over time and fail.

  • Great vid...thanks!

  • I have a quick question and its relating to the timing belt. My sisters Aveo belt had snapped while driving. the car had 118,000 km on it without the previous owners replacing it. Could the car take internal damage from the belt snapping? I was just wondering I need to make a drive today to pick it up and its an 2005. Another note the cars gas gage was jumping up and down so could the fuel pump have gone out? Thx for any help

  • @cmentalppl That belt is supposed to be replaced every 60,000 miles (96,560km). This is an interference engine, meaning that it is possible to bend valves when the timing belt breaks. Your gauge problem may be the fuel level sender on the pump assembly, the gauge, or the wiring. Would you like to buy the engine in this video? It has around 48,000 miles (77,248km) on it. The gas gauge works too. I totaled the car around December of '09.

  • @roadragecustoms I will consider your offer I first must pick up the car and see exactly what damage has been done. If you had an email i could contact you at that would be perfect and love the video thx il def subscribe :)

  • Umm... this is a little off topic but I was wondering if the Chevy Aveo has a drain plug on the tranny pan. Anyone know?

  • @mtlh05 I don't know. Mine was a manual.

  • I was able to use your instructions to remove my belt from my 1995 honda accord. Thanks a million

  • I've been looking for belt diagrams for the Aveo, any clue where to find online?

    Thanks for the video!

  • Thanks for the video upload >> the tutorial helped my bro with my belt replacement...

  • I don't like having a single belt running eveything, because if the belt brakes, you got no water pump, no a/, no alternator, nothing

  • @Nightwing690 The water pump still works on an aveo if the serpentine belt breaks, it runs off the timing belt, but yea it stinks loosing power steering and alternator if it breaks

  • hey look a DIY for the very car i drive. or used to, my PLASTIC tensioner shattered and half of my valves bent.

300 bucks for a new head, or 106$ for a whole new engine at harry's u pull it. it's four years newer too, had to swap out the intake manifold and fuel injectors cause the wires didn't match up.

anyway thanks for the video, i was second guessing myself and didn't want to tensioner to cause me more trouble

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! I followed your advice and video and it went fine. I like the goodyear gatorback belts, and the car is running (safe) again just before winter. I had no idea how to change it until I saw your video. Thanks again! You Rock!

  • OMG thanks you saved me wow like $200.00 a guy wanted to charge me.. THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

  • this helped us out a ton, thanks for posting it

  • great video

  • Bro... you are beyond awesome. Not only do you show me how to change this damn s-belt, BUT... you have Nitrous in the Aveo. I love it. I love my aveo. Rock on.

  • @scrogking I totaled it & sold the nitrous kit. I miss the gas mileage, but I like having a truck now. If I get a little free time & money, I may build something out of what is left of it.

  • You're a lifesaver man! Is it the same for a 2004? Do you think it would be too much of a pain in the ass to use a car jack rather than a lift? Thanks again for the video!

  • @stephan3886 I would assume an '04 would be similar. If you use a jack, use jack stand(s). Only raise the vehicle on flat pavement, concrete, asphalt, etc. Don't raise the vehicle on the side of a hill, pile of dirt, in a sandbox, etc. You know the drill. Be careful. Good luck. Let me know how it turns out.

  • You're a lifesaver man! Is it the same for a 2004? Thanks again for the video!

  • Thank you sir for posting this video! I had to change out the alternator and went ahead and replaced the belt as well. Your video saved me a lot of time.

  • Thanks for posting this vid. I had to replace the alternator in my dads aveo and forgot how the belt ran through. Saved me some head scratching

  • Just got done doing the wifes belt. Your video saved me $60.00 thank you very much!

  • Great help! I would have stared at the top of the engine for days to figure out where the darned tensioner was.

  • Thank you darlin!!! :)

  • THANK YOU!!! You help me big time!!

  • I went to change the serpentine belt in my girls aveo, lifted the hood and scratched my head thinking how the hell am I going to get to that? I did a google search, found your video and my life got a whole lot easier. Thanks so much it was excellent, even leaving the guess work out of what size wrenches I would need.

    Thanks again

    Dave

  • Dave,

I'm glad to know the video helped! Thanks for watching!

  • Dude... wet nitrous. Really?

How much... and how's the ETECII handle it?

  • 50HP shot. It's a blast. I haven't had any issues with it. Still gets 32MPG spraying on the highway-I mean track.

  • How much does it cost to set up, and how much time do you get with how much money?

    Like, $20 / 20 seconds?

  • NX mainline wet kit $399.00 at Summit Racing Equiptment-$40.00 rebate right now, I think. Filling tank varries like cost of fuel. Costs around $40.00 to fill the 10 pound tank. If I remember correctly, one tank is supposed to last about 5-1/4 mile passes if you spray the full legnth of the track. This also varries with the HP you choose, the kit you use and type of vehicle, etc. I'm debating whether or not to bump up mine to a 75HP shot.

  • @roadragecustoms just remember that the entake manifold is composite plastic so if you get a nitrous backfire, cablamo it is going to detonate and throw plastic like shrapnel

  • @snowmobilejon5000 The car was totaled about a year ago. The engine is OK.

  • Sorry about the audio quality. Got a new camera with new editing software. Background music option seems to be a bad idea when I'm trying to talk.
