Damn, this makes me jealous. I wanna take my 98 'lude base out to SOW so bad...
You did damn good keeping up with that M3. It should have been g o n e but you kept him from gaining more than one second in that lap. What suspension are you on?
When turning there is lateral torque placed upon the tires which imparts a turning force that depends upon the length of the tire distances from the CG. Thus, in a car with a short wheelbase, the short lever arm from the CG to the rear wheel will result in a greater lateral force on the rear tire which means greater acceleration and less time for the driver to adjust and prevent a spin out or worse.
5th gen preludes don't handle as well as the 4th gens. The 5th gens have more power but the handling is so bad you couldn't catch that damn m3. This video is extremely upsetting. You should have pushed it harder. So much understeer.
You're not serious are you? The differences between the 4gen vtec and the 5th gen base are so minute that it's basically a drivers race. Hell I'd put my money on the 5th gen, stock vs stock.
Both of our cars are modded, the M3 more so than my prelude. The primary reason I couldn't "catch up" was the power difference. Secondary being his BBK all around (6 piston up front and 4 in the rear) vs my stock brake setup.
The 1996 honda prelude vtec weighed in at 2932lbs, Wheelbase of 100.40", Width of 69.50", A height of 50.8", a Length of 174.80". The 2001 honda prelude SH weighed in at 3042lbs., wheelbase of 101.80", width of 69.00", height of 51.80", and a length of 178.00".
IIRC the 5th gen base model (my prelude) weighs in at around 2954lbs? I'm a lot skinnier than most other adults so my body weight alone negates the weight difference. The only thing your wiki specs do is further prove my point that the differences are minute. Throw in the fact that this isn't even a competition with high caliber drivers and the differences are pretty much irrelevant. Last, to even think that, given equal drivers, a prelude can hang with an m3 is absurd in and of itself.
Nice! I want to go someday but am afraid to without a roll cage after I saw that one video of the EVO that flipped upsidedown on this track lol. I guess if I take it easy I should be ok. Great driving btw! =)

I don't know why you're bringing up the SH when I was talking about the base model in my previous reply.
