  • wow, I did exactly(!) the same lifts :o

  • I'm not an expert in country dancing, but a lot of these are similar to Lindy aerials. My only question, "Isn't there more to dancing than lifts?" It looks like a lot of other people are doing fancy footwork and cool moves that done involve using brute strength with your partner. Especially with the baby coming I think it'd be cool to see you guys work on dancing technique and making the non-lift parts look good.

  • The lifting is just so fun! :) Neither of us like the footwork stuff much. But I agree, the lifts take a much different set of skills than the actual dancing technique. We will leave that other stuff to some other couple :)

  • the Lifts are really good and really complicated but they need work as far as getting in and out of them smoothly...but otherwise not bad.

  • I agree with you. It definitely takes a lot of practice getting in and out of the lifts smoothly. Its actually a lot harder than the actual lifts :) This video is pretty early on in our dancing but we do much better in our other video. It's called "sweet lifts & aerials 2!".

  • wow, she's so tiny and he's freaking huge so it works out.

  • I'm not that tiny anymore :) We are expecting our first little boy and my belly is huge now! We wont be doing any lifting til after this baby comes...

  • Ahh.. Nice, congradulations!

  • A lot of those tricks take some serious strength. But what an awesome dance. Makes me want to start doing some serious lifting.

  • ha is the camera guy singing in the background?

  • omg! you guys should be on SYTYCD! Your great at lifts and tricks! wow!

  • wow, i was on the edge of my seat in fear! you guys are so awesome

  • is there any way you think you could make a tutorial of the moves you did at 1.49 and 2.30 those are some awesome moves I would love to learn but just cant get a grasp on what exactly you guys are doing in the video.

  • Haha I love BYU and Freedom country dancing! Next time I go is going to be amazing like always cause I have a ton of new lifts!

  • Hey I have a question I would be honered if you answer. Me and a friend (boy) are doing something like this for a school talent show. And when he slides me along the floor after I drop from a lift. My question is what position shohuld I be in when he slides me onto the floor?

  • strong guy, brave girl.

  • You really have to be able to trust your partner for lifts. Most of the guys i have done lifts and dips with. I trust them. It's mainly because we have practiced the moves over and over again.

  • Could I ask tips & suggestions?, My school will b hving a dance interpretation contest,And I was Assigned 2 da stepping 4 da music,I wanted dem to do liftings(especialy on girls) coz it wuld b more passionate or sumting...So,sumtimes I had dis big problem 4 da main dancer(girl) bcoz she is really tall,we need to find boys hu can carry her, & there r tyms wer she is getting a little scared dat cozes her 2 panic wen she is in air,but r wer also tyms she is relaxed, culd u give some tips?need help.

  • I would suggest practicing over foam pads for awhile until she is really comfortable with the moves. I dont blame her for being a little scared. But just remind her that lifts have a lot more to do with coordination and correct body positioning than weight or height. And that if she doesn't trust whoever is doing the lift, they probably wont be able to do it correctly. BUT it's still dangerous. I have been dropped a lot of times and luckily i have never been hurt seriously but its always a risk.

  • Wow!

  • wow, i wanna say i swing dance & this is very good. :P great job!

  • i think the most importiant thing when it comes to arials is for the girl not to hesitate or panick stay calm ad go with your man

  • You two should really try lindy hop with aerials. I'm LDS from the deep south and the scene is huge down here. Check out videos of the "hsds hepcats" and "lindyfest" on youtube if you are interested.

  • great job guys!

  • You missed ONE move, the Manning back-to-back

    flip.

My hubbie & I do that, sorry it wasn't here

    on your video.

    :(

But, awesome work on those lifts, anyway.

  • Beautiful!! And yes, before I saw that it was in Provo, I recognized the style of building. FYI, they're the same in Alaska too.

  • HA! i knew that was a Mormon building!

  • thts really good! and i LOVE this song and hav u heard his song online? its gr8! But i hav a question. Me and my cuzin and r 2 8yr old friends do cheerleading lifts and all and some really cool stunts but do u hav 2 b really strong to be the base in your stunts?

  • There are little tricks that will help like lifting with your legs and locking in your arms as soon as you can. Just make sure to be careful because almost all of these can be really dangerous. We always learn our new lifts over foam pads.

  • k thanks that helps a lot i know we will have fun =]

  • Cheerleading stunts are so much different than dancing lifts. The bases each get 50% of the person's body weight and you also have a frontman and backman to spot the stunt so it doesn't get shaky. With dancing lifts, one person is supporting another's person's complete body weight.

  • You wouldn't happen to be a BYU student, would you? They don't have any country swing classes like you seem to be in at the University of Utah.

Did you learn all those moves at the Provo swing club? I forget the name.

  • Yeah we are BYU students. I learned in St.George and he learned in Salt Lake but you could probably learn very similar things in Provo :) Its so fun!

  • you really dance great! I love your 2 videos.

I would like to practice some of the lifts.

is it possible that you could make a video where you explain how to do the lifts? of a website perhabs, where I can find explanations about the lifts.

    thank you!

and keep it up, you 2 really look great dancing with each other!

    Bye!

  • How much does she weigh??

  • I weigh 105 pounds. Are you contemplating doing these lifts and wanting to know how doable it is? :) Really, as long as you do the lifts correctly, weight is less of a factor than you would expect.

  • The very first lift you guys o when you toss her up, is that a hard thing to catch?

  • It took us awhile to get it solid but now its not hard. The hardest part is that the center of gravity on the front is different than in the back so he has to move his hands down a little. As long as his hands are in the right place and locked, its not hard at all.

  • Where did you learn adagio?

  • If you like this video, check out "Sweet Lifts 2!" Because it has a couple new ones and the videoing is much better. Enjoy!

  • WOW!! where do you guys live id like some dance lessons!!! your both really good!!

  • We live in Utah. We would be happy to give lessons :) But if you are too far away, you could tag the lifts you like the best and I could give a couple of tips on how we have found is the easiest to do them.

  • Thank you!

  • The move a 1:38 is beautiful and graceful

  • WOW

  • tis my cousin. . . dat a boy!

  • holy crap...
