Anole live in forest i like your setup i have two green anole i think one is female so hopefuly they mate then i can sell the babies MUHAHAHAHAHAHA lol but anyways i like yourset up and make sure to spray your cage often
Can I put a mixture of woodchips And soil? Can I use Non-Organic soil but still heat it to 300° for 30 minutes? And do you leave the basking light on for a while and then turn it off or do you leave it on all the time? Because I was thinking it might probably heat up the basking stick to the point where it's too hot for the anole to stand on it..
@cUrIeL909 Your anole is probably stressed out because you just got him, so he might not eat right away. They also don't like to be held usually... so holding them or trying to will stress them out also.
First compact bulbs are the coils. And they don't cause blindness I've used them for years. Also you should have a thermal gradient so they can thermoregulate their body temps.
THANK YOU! Out of the HUNDREDS of videos on green anoles I could NOT find a video that said what substrate to use for live plants. I am going to use Ivy for my green anoles. ( Sorry for the caps)
@TheSolaceDream Yes seriously. Well . . I guess other people like them but to me they're boring because I see them all the time haha. We like to catch them and make them bite our ears and wear them as earings LOL . . they have some sharp teeth though.
Yes.. anoles themselves are cheap... maybe $10 max... however.. for the terrarium, plants, substrate, food, thermometers, logs, and other decor... well over $200
Well you know, not to sound cheap, but you could just buy all the plants at the dollar store. They are still made out of the same stuff, silk. Also you can get plants out of your yard, but you HAVE to make sure there are no chemicals or anything on it. I use some of the annoying vines that grow on trees here in Washington, I just rip them off the tree. Plant them in the dirt of my terrarium and they just grow and grow. It looks really cool!
I enjoyed this presentation. You've obviously put a lot of thought and care into creating a healthy environment for the lizards, and are learning a lot about them. Thanks for posting this!
i had monitors and alliagtors. now im thinkin about an anole tank with my empty 90 gallon tank. its just looks better with all the plants and easy care lizards. nice tank man!
I live in Pa there not native the highest there naturally occurring is A little into North Carolina. And even there on down to FL there being overrun by invasive species of anoles introduced by imports.
@ReaperX1337 I live in Florida dont fool yourself we are one skip away from the Carribeans and many of the non native species have been here hundredS of years they came in ships before such thing as planes and they came on floating bamboo, palm mats after hurricanes. They have not displaced a single Florida native but the CONSTANT developmet has been what has hurt natives and the non natives move in and thus get blamed. The bulldozer is the native killer
@ReaperX1337 Theres tons of Brown Anoles and Green Anoles here in Florida, kind of funny hearing you guys saying you bought lizards, ill catch you one for free if you pay for shipping.
il like your habitat...but to tell you something...do not put the other basking light on the other side...it will make your terrarium too hot...its called thermal gradient...some lizards like to be warm, but then they also like to cool down...so yeah...just trying to help out!
Thanks Much friend! Actually one anole needs 10 gallons of territory or else it gets severely stressed and it's lifespan is shortened greatly. Like if you have ever see them at Petco they have about 30 of them in a little square box for sale :( But thanks for your post makes me feel good knowing people actually watch the vids. hopefully later on I want to make some more. Thanks again!
No, actually there not such a god idea as the anoles might tend to get burned through the glass or if the pad is outside the glass (as it would be) under the substrate the anole may try and dig under to get warmth it should be receiving from above basking lamp and UVB tube light.
