ucking hypocrite. Wearing costly clothing and playing mr.counterculture, against megacorporations and media manipulations... and he gets his money from DC Comics, i.e. Warner Bros, one of the main supporters of SOPA by the way. Writing Batman. Is there anything more mainstream? So much for counterculture, yeah.
Morrison does have some cliched tropes & a style that at best was taking stupid characters and concepts especially from DC's history and crafting good stories with them.
At worst his villains are the same one note cliches" mwahaha evil" without any motivation or philosophy or fun or charisma, Drugs are the mark of a morrison story & ridiculous plot twists, out of character behavior by long-established characters, and of course gratuitous sex and violence
Grant is a big romantic. The problem is sometimes his romantic ideals feel so disconnected they can feel like delusions. The art of romance is to take a person who lives mostly in reality and fan the embers of whatever romantic notions he might still cling to. You cannot just abruptly take someone to Narnia - they must stumble through the wardrobe first.
Final Crisis felt rather weird. It's a fantasy world that may make perfect sense to Morrison, but it was so distant for me.
Anyone who thinks he is a genius is under this man's spell. The spell is called Grant's bullshit. Everything he has done, has been a rip off of something he has read or watched. Animal Man = Swamp Thing, Zenith = Miracleman, Bible John = From Hell. Arkham Asylum is not a story, its a book filled with concepts. Read it! Now he wants to say his works of deconstructing characters is different from the original title that began the modern era.
@youngace187 Alan Moore didn't create comics, Grant's been messing with them just as long and he doesn't go missing/crazy (without documenting it into a psychedelic storyline) for years and waste his talent like Alan is now

This is why Grant is the best writer in comics today.

This is why, despite things that he has done (like his take on the Red Hood *shudders*) I love this writer

Don't get why people struggle with the accent. It's not even a particularly strong Scottish accent, to be honest...
Anyway, I think the contrast between his ideas and the ideas of other writers like Moore are very interesting. He's a clever guy, and a great writer.

@doogsby Whats pathetic about not being able to understand someone else's accent very well?
stigler30 1 year ago
@stigler30 Okay - where are you from, Mars? It's just a Scottish accent, it's not that hard to figure out.
doogsby 1 year ago
@doogsby And it's a super thick Scottish accent at that. I'm from America I don't hear accents like that everyday.
