The dog that bit his handler was in highdrive. These are not regular dual purpose police dogs. They are swat and special forces dogs, big difference in temperament when vetting such dogs for this specific work.

You are wrong. Police dogs make very good pets when they are retired. They don't just randomly attack. They are given a specific command. These dogs are very well trained and have great personalities.

@princessbeiter not even when they retire i know several k9 police that have there police dog and it is perfect arond children. Some of them though stay in the stay in the state of mind though and have to be kept under a good watch. it just depends.

@princessbeiter Of course they do. But they are trained to follow commands under a specific group of people, most notably his trainers and his squad mates. If a cop is walking his dog and someone accidentally trips him or something, the dog may consider this an act of aggression and tear the person up. That's why many of them are put to sleep.
