anyone who takes on "nessum dorma" AND "be my love" and dose an amazing job ON BOTH signature songs has my respest......................IM A FAN. thank you Frank T
Great voice, great technique. I'd much rather attend a concert of yours than go to a Eurotrash styled Met production starring their awful singers nowadays. And if we're talking orchestration, I prefer this to the schmaltzy Hollywood-esque tracks on Lanza recordings.
@GermanOperaSinger We have had our differences of opinion in the past & I've enjoyed your posted comments on YT.From time to time I have found them to be most informative. However, I feel that your being quite generous with your comment here & hope it's out of frustration OR alcohol.Listen to this fellows Because Your Mine without MIC & if you care to let me know what you think.
@GermanOperaSinger Ah I see you've already discovered Tenaglia. Well I hope you enjoy the link I sent you anyway.
I know you are (were?) a Costello fan (he's great), but Tenaglia just has an extra something. Costello hooks every friggin note and can get froggy at times.
Cannot be sung any better......My favourite singer of this type of music has always been "Wunderlich".....after watching some of your performances......I may be changing that.....just wonderful Frank!
seriously, frank, have you considered approaching bmg about obtaining the arrangements used on the original lanza recordings? i am certain that your voice would find a level of comfort in them that would enable it to soar to new heights. YOU are the singer who should be briding the gap between opera and popular music, NOT bocelli.
another observation...the orchestration SUCKS!!!!! this man deserves to be accompanied by the exquisite arrangements of ray sinatra and constantine callinicos that contributed to the beauty of lanza's recordings.
@jgraif the orchestration is great. what you mean is the orchestra sucks... which they also don't. stop talking music like you know what it's about. leave that to musicians.
@johnsonalanmichael may i ask you to listen to mario lanza's recording of this song? please compare the orchestrations and let me know what you think. oh, by the way, i hold a degree in music from an ivy league university and have enjoyed a 45-year career as a professional musician. i wonder why you would simply assume that i do not know what i am talking about. please share that with all of us.
@jgraif the orchestration is great. what you mean is the orchestra sucks... which they also don't. stop talking music like you know what it's about. leave that to musicians. thanks
@jgraif I use sarcasm to an extent that it should not be. What i meant was... the orchestra doesn't suck... it was actually fine. It was well-rehearsed and prepared. Sorry if I offended you. I was just being an ass... But you should think about people that were in the orchestra you insulted... they would want you to "share with all of them" why you said what you did. Good to know that you are a learned musician who keeps in touch with music that is currently being written and performed. :)
this is my first encounter with mr. tenaglia. i am a great fan of lanza and have yearned for someone to come along who possesses the "clarity of voice" that set him apart from every tenor before or since. well, here he is!!!! with the exception of a couple of "rushed" moments and a couple that lack the proper emotional interpretation, this man has captured lanza's delivery and certainly his high c. i would love to be his musical director.
BRAVO! You sang easyer HIGH C than me in this. I LIKE YOU a LOT. I have a strong high C but you sing it with a great elegance.(If my english is right) I would like to si ng with you on "International ,Lanza memorial conserts". All around the world....
I would say that the main reason why Frank is able to sing bel canto beautifully is because he has a 'free' voice removed from bad habits and embellishments that become an obstacle to most classical and opera singers. Such a grandioso voice!
Frank, this is absolutely delightful. I love this song and you do it incredibly well. Bravo comes to mind. Wonderful high C by the way. 2:10 ooo vowel is very attractive as well. You have an appreciative quality in your tone. After all that life has thrown at you, way to keep going.
No-one will ever beat Mario HOWEVER Frank seems to have that same "heart" that he puts into his singing that is so reminiscent of Mario. Frank certainly has the chops to sing these songs and it's delightful to hear that similar quality and theatricality that Mario was so famous for. I think Mario himself would give Frank a huge nod. Great tone, great voice. Bravo.
Frank seems to make the high-ending effortless. Seen loads of "would-be" tenors on here trying this song, all of them fall short. Frank nails it, very well. Brava
Wow, the guy is good! About as close as you could get to Lanza short of the man himself... Tenaglia should be proud of himself when greats like Carreras and Domingo shyed away from the high C..
Frankie is from my hometown and am deeply proud of him. Not to many tenors would dare try to tackle that high C at the end of Be My Love. As you see, Frankie nails it just like that other great South Philadelphia tenor once did, Mario Lanza!.
I know this guy well, and Man he can Tear the house down Better than ANYone....you have to go back to Mario Lanza to find someone that can easily hit a C like Frank!!
Amazing voice! With a little more fullness to your voice, which may come as you get a little older, you could be Lanza!

I listen to this almost every time I am on youtube.
Tenaglia has become one of my abslote favourite singers.
I wonder why this outstanding tenor hasn't made a global carreer yet.
Why is everybody hypnotized by second class tenors like Paul Potts when there are TENORISSIMOs like this one?
Is it because of his overweight?

Thw qonderful thing about Frank Tenaglia's high C (like performed here) is that it simply doesn't hurt AT ALL.
Many tenors can reach a high C, that's nothing special. But one has to differnciate the quality and beauty of the sound that the singer produces.
As a semiprofessionel tenor I absolutely adore Frank Tenaglia and wish him all the best.
(I hope he will lose some weight soon for if he doesn't, I'm afraid, he will die at a much too young age. I wish I could help him somehow.)
