Please confirm the western release date NihonFalcom!just got into this series through ys 7 and I've been completely blown away by it.Please make the graphics much better by the time this game releases,make it run at vita's native resolution that is at 544p and use more and better anti-aliasing.Hopefully this game will completely destroy ys 7 on all fronts and will go mass-market and enjoy millions in sales by being the first awesome rpg for the playstation vita.

Strange that they are using the party system, especially when the canonical Mask of the Sun was pretty much Adol on his own quest and settling loose ends from Ys 1 and 2.

But it worked good in Seven so I can't complain. Also that outfit, whoa. They're really experimenting with redesigning Adol's look this time.

Just as Oath in Felghana was revised and re imagined with the intent of fine tuning the game play and lore from Ys VI, Woodlands of Celceta is geared to do the same with Ys VII. True, we don't know what will be added and changed with the game's setting and lore, but to simply ignore the genesis of the game's reason d'etre and label the game as simply a new entry would be incredibly short-sighted.

Story wise the events of what happened in Celceta were shoddy at best due to many scholars (read:different developers) translation of Adol's travel logs.

Well, pretty much this. Falcom have a really bad luck when their games are released on Nintendo consoles (Ys III, Ys V)

@ryu157 Falcom has been predominantly a PC developer since the early '80s, so it comes down to which platforms they're most comfortable developing for. The PSP (and Vita also I presume) is apparently very similar to the PC when it comes to development. They're a small team, so learning to make games for the 3DS or the Wii U is like learning a new language for them.

@portablegamer - 完全新作 just means it's newly-developed (as opposed to ported). Ys: The Oath in Felghana was advertised as 完全新作 too, despite being a remake of Ys III, because it wasn't a PORT of Ys III -- it was a reimagining.

@Zuggaron In case you noticed he's not wearing his usual armor either, maybe he's going for a quicker sword-play style and thus has to ditch the shield (The one he never actually used to block anything other than in Ys 5) or maybe they just didn't equip a shield on him

Well, they have different sagas, not just ys and eiyuu densetsu, but these two are their flagships, so it is only natural they focus on milking them for cash since they just started on the console market. ( I think they need more devs and budget to bring a big next gen console title ). I'm just glad they keep making games, the music is always good thanks to jdk band.

Well as you know, Adol has journeyed across the world seeking adventure. In the order of events, the land of Celceta was technically his second stop after leaving Esteria I recall correctly, which is detailed in two versions of Ys IV, one for Super Famicom titled "Ys IV: Mask of the Sun" and for PC-Engine Turbo Super CD-Rom^2 titled, Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys. The unique thing about these two games is that while they feature a basic plot outline and characters, each are completely different...

I've played through both Mask of the Sun and the Dawn of Ys multiple times and all of this seemed like a completely new adventure, beckoning us to unlock the new mysteries of Celceta we've never seen before...
