  • Won't be long before bosses like that are back in charge - we're going backwards in time!

  • My grandfather used to sing this song to tease my mother, but I'd never heard the original. Thanks for posting this.

  • my grandma LOVES this song. She used t sing it to me when I was a little girl. I like the last part, but i wish it was also in the discription. :( "I have a boss, he looks like a horse. His names ____ _____ ." what was the one i'll kick him where it hurts?

  • I know how she feels. Ugg : (

  • 8 people don't have a sewing machine

  • She sings, she dances, she's the female version of Danny Kaye (read--comic genius), boisterous, kooky, glamours--did it all, Betty did.

  • That's my Model 31-15 that Betty's working at! Or it could be... cool to see a workroom set up from the day... my machine is dated 1927. Still sews a very pretty stitch. I use it exclusively for quilting work.

  • brilliant!

  • I love this, just like my business

  • i love this film xx

  • I ADORE her peepin's litle eyes over the sewing machine at 1:12! It's so perfect!

  • 0:003 is that an oompa loompa in the bottom left corner?

  • I was looking for how to video's and came upon this love it!

  • This is in our E.P.P. SUBJECT OUR TEACHER LET US WATCH THIS...IT'S SO FUNNY.

  • kinda wried

  • i love dis song

  • Sooo funny, I love that song (because I love my sewing machine!)

  • I saw "The Perils of Pauline" with my mother at Fairy Air Dome in St. Louis in 1947. The Fairy Air Dome was folding chairs and a portable movie screen in the back yard of the Fairy Theatre on Easton Avenue. People who lived in the flats around the theater watched the movie for free from their porches. When rain started, we moved inside and the film was being shown at the same spot as it was being shown outside. Hutton was terrific. I was seven years old and still remember this flick.

  • i like this this is cute I heard this before and I like to sing randomly thru the house really loud and everybody always look at me like im a freak :( i was singing this song lol

  • omg i have been looking for this for years! thanks for posting this!

  • lol!!!! i LOVE how she bursts with energy!!!!!

  • That's true. That was an awesome movie with an all star cast!

  • I love how her fringe shakes whenever she moves her head

  • hahahahah me too

  • anyone who has this song, please send me this song. :):):) i love it

  • omg I love Betty Hutton! She's one of the best singers and actresses we had at the time :)

  • My aunt used to sing this to me when I was very little. It used to make me laugh. I'd forgot all about it until now when it all came back to me 40 years later. Now get this... In 1974 I started work for Courtholds the clothing makers as a trainee engineer. And In 1990 I started my own Industrial Sewing Machine supply and service business and i'm still at it.

  • mwhahaa this is awesome!!

  • yeahhh.. xD

  • The jig, the bowler hat, the way she pushes her nose up to mock the snubby Irish schnozz ......gasp.....IRISH!!!!! omigod it's a RACIST video!!! :)

  • You are stupid.

  • It's Scottish, not Irish.

  • No-it's Scotch!

  • She's crazier than ME!

  • betty hutton i love you!

  • I just LOOOOOVE it

  • Betty Hutton is a GODDESS! She's my idol ^^. Also I love how in the song when she goes "so I bob'n'I bob'n" her bangs bounce along with it. Too cute ^^

  • ohh my god this is the best song ever!!

  • I love it! I especially like her outfit. XD

  • Epic! I love my sewing machine too!

  • tehe, i love her.

  • VERY BAD LANGUAGE

  • ....ummmm... what are you talking about?

  • It Doesnt concern you does it??

  • i'm still trying to find the bad words. there's no swearing, there aren't any suggestions. if u're worried about the "bobbin' and bobbin'" part, that's a part of a sewing machine. so i don't know what u r talking about

  • I luv this song XD

  • what is the musical!!!!?????????? She is officially one of the best actresses ever though!

  • The Perils Of Pauline,Paramount Studios,1947. And ,of course, you're correct in your statement about Betty as being one of the best ever. Did you know that she recorded a song entitled Blow A Fuse during the 1940's that later in the 90's was re-recorded by Bjork and was called It's Oh So Quiet?

  • @johnnynazz52 My favorite hutton number from this same movie is "rumble," check it out.

  • @RobNLynchburgVA Thanks Rob, I happen to own the movie with these songs and I like all four of the numbers in it. Betty displayed her great versatility with those songs. Check out the ballad I Wish I Didn't Love You So, great song.

  • omg i just luv betty shes crazy :)

  • really love this song. Just i i feel sometimes. But nevertheless sewin rocks! as does this song. :)

  • lol this is exactly how i sing. she reminds me of lucille ball

  • i so wish they would do a remaster of this!!

i bought this when i was little(no idea why) and still love it!!

  • Great song, I have never heard it before, now I will have to sing it every time I'm sewing! And change the words to knitting machine when I use that.

  • She's a brilliant talent. Never get tired of seeing her. She steals every scene. And it's impossible to feel negative when she's on. She raises the vibration of the whole set!

  • Betty was adept with the usage of STACCATO!

  • I have never heard that song before! I love it!

  • First person that comes to mind is Danny Kaye. Any one agree?

  • Absolutely. First thing I thought, too.

  • Docked a half days pay? I'd call Labour Relations!

  • Yesss, Somehow I was sure it was a cover...

  • Im speaking of the Björk song "Blow a fuse"

  • sometimes after sewing for a long time I actually start to feel like this.

  • I have always loved this song and Betty Hutton.

Being a sewing teacher it is one I have told my students about for years. It's great to find it here and I am forwarding it to all my Sewing Buddies!!

    Thanks!

  • I'd heard the song but not seen the film. Fabulous! what a performer !

  • This clip is a GEM! Don't think I ever saw "Perils of Pauline", but have seen this clip numerous times and figure it must have been in a tribute documentary or compilation. Betty was BRILLIANT and so expressive. Frank Faylen also Brilliant as the hard boss. Particularly loved the outdated slang used. Funny, I had forgotten about the term 'talking through your hat', but my Dad often used it. Thanks for posting this great clip.

  • The PErils of paulines is sooo funny omg if you can see it it isw sometimes on tcm or amc late at night but it sooo great

  • Perils of Pauline from 1947... is this from a DVD? The copy looks a lot clearer than my vhs.

  • Yes, it's my best friend! Funny! Is that why I don't go to clubs? Oh man! I'm always sewing!

  • hehe! That's just how I feel sometimes!

  • I appreciate anything "Sewing" before my time.

  • I so agree. I want my mom to teach me.

  • There's a resurgence of sewing, which is wonderful, yes, by all means learn as much as you can from your mom :-)

  • great clip,,, for sewing machines and parts look at my website kenmachines couk

  • Right on!

  • I have a lot of sewing to do tomorrow for a show. This is my tomorrow. And I'm feeling it already. Great Clip.

  • Cool! Thanks so much for sharing this video. I love to sew and it's good to see a video clip about sewing.

  • Thank you so much for posting this, it's so appropriate for what I do!! I was wandering the web hoping to find a sound clip and find this instead. Absolutely great!!!

  • man, is this appropriate...I just finished making over 70 costumes for a dance studio!! Couldn't have said it better myself!

  • Anyone know what this movie is?

  • 40s musical, Perils of Pauline.

  • I used to watch this when i was little and I could never remember who played it or anything lol good memories :)

  • She certainly was bursting with talent.

  • Wow that was pretty cool! Thank you so much for posting this... I will make sure to embed this into my Quilting Blog. It's a reminder, that sewing is and hasn't been a blessing to all of us and wasn't always a pleasure.

  • Wow never seen that before, that was pretty awesome! Thank you for posting!

  • discerminition!!!

  • Wow. What a fascinating story. Thanks for sharing it.

  • Thank you for sharing this. I remember the Courtaulds factory in Baldock, Hertfordshire, UK, in the 70s and 80s (which closed down and became a Tesco Superstore!).
