  • Fast or not, the thing will always get horrible gas mileage.

But it's a damn tank. It's literally invincible.

I drove my 360 20 miles once with a broken water pump. Didn't even completely overheat.

Theses are the last trucks that actually felt and drove like trucks should. New trucks turn like cars and have all kinds of fancy schtuff in them

  • I have a 360 and it is a bulletproof engine. Those of you who say that they are bad engines obviously do not maintain there engine. Change the oil at least and air filter and it will last forever.

  • nice low end grunt. sqeual the tires. engine does not seem up to par top end wise. blown plenum maybe. any mods? bolt ons will get you about 8-9 sec. maybe faster with a solid tune. nice vid though. ill be posting my 0-60's as soon as roads are dry. (lotta snow here in alaska)

  • good to see. i think my truck is a little faster but to each their own. I love my chevy 350 and you will never tell me anything different :-P

  • @Galestinian then dont watch videos of dodge 360's and no one will bother you

  • @moparmaniac666 but i wanna! im pouting now. just so you know. And i wasnt hating on your dodge. I was just saying that I, personally, love my chevy truck and its motor. dont be mad.

  • He seen a cop! Lmfao

  • why did you say shit

  • iv got a 98 dodge sport 5.9 now when i start the truck the oil pressure gauge is has like a 3 or 4 second delay befor it goes up to pressure. and is slow to rise when i stomp on it. it has actually dropped to zero twice, but i shut of the truck and start it its fine. anyway to tell for sure if its the pump or just the gauge?

  • @cybillify drop the oil pan if the oil pump pickup looks like its clogged, or messed up thats probably your problem. my 5.2 did that as well. but alittle thicker oil is a good band aid. i suggest anything 15w 40. like rotella.

  • thats a loong ass first gear. lol

  • do you know what the un limited top speed of a 5.7 l 02-09 series ram is, i have a 04 with cai, headers, i assum some exhost cause it sounds nice but i didnt put it on so idk what it is, and ooooo i almost forgot a fukin o2 sim, that keep me from passing inspection, anyway long story short it a hit 110 like its hungry for 130+ but it has the limiter on it :/

  • prob 112-115. google it. take out the rev limiter and governerand youll love it. stock tranny however will not. might just wanna raise the shift point and you rev limiter. its all in the tune with obd II's

  • Get a tune. and not a chip. actually flash any tuner. talk to sean aka hemifever.

  • 5.9L was a good motor just wasn't fast in a big truck a dodge ram with the 5.2L engine weighs 6400lbs

  • Dude my honda civic will go way faster, Its got a V-TEC yo! jk honda should stick to lawn mowers.

  • Hey guys, just so you know, trucks weren't built for racing, so you can all end your arguments now.

  • ill beat your chevy, 2003 ram 2500 5.7 hemi 345hp 345lb torque

  • hi whats the consumption of this car?

please let me nog, I also want to buy an dodge ram of that year

  • @nniicckkk1994 like 4 mpg

  • @renns944 4 mpg ??!!! thats 3 times the consumption of a 2005 dodge ram hemi! ?

  • @renns944 hahaha, seems like it, mine gets 14 on a good day

  • @renns944 i got 5.9 like 9 mpg

  • @nniicckkk1994 14 mpg for the v8s.

  • @nniicckkk1994 It depends on what has been done to it.

For instance, my 98 was stock and got maybe 9mpg, but i did alot of performance stuff to it. flowmaster 44, k&n stuff, couple other stuff on the engine, new headers. So I now get around 12-14. as long as I don't have my lead foot on.

  • @nniicckkk1994 I have a 2001 2500 with the 360 v8 with a K&N cold air intake and straight piped and I average about 13-14 mpg. 15-16 highway and about 10-12 city driving if you don't hammer it down all the time. Great truck I love it, dependable and has power for days

  • @nniicckkk1994

    12 city 18 highway

  • @nniicckkk1994 more like 10 if its all factory

  • hahahahahahahahahahha wow.... BADASS

  • gm all the way

  • @malcolm70 idk this one might be slow but my 97 ram moves!!

  • All ram magnums are shit. 220 to 240 hp. Yet I can beat them in a race half throttle with 210 hp and pull their truck and another hooked to it with my chevy

  • @gotenks137690

Magnums are tuned for low end torque.. Not HP you fool..

  • @1ownjoo2 so is mine. mine revs up to 5k rpms and puts out 300 torque at 2800 rpms. thats my rpm range for pulling too. no excuses. i push an extra 20 torque and 20 less horsepower. my truck will beat any magnum on the road.

  • @gotenks137690 nevermind. the 5.9 pushes 330 torque. that just proved my point even more. magnums are shit.

  • @gotenks137690

And hwo much does you vehicle weigh... What vehicle do you have

  • @1ownjoo2 i have a full sized chevy truck. made in 89.

  • @gotenks137690

What is the model of that truck and the engine size ? They have such a big range on wiki

  • @1ownjoo2 alright bro. here we go. 1989 chevy k1500. 5.7L 350 tbi with 210 hp and 300 torque. k1500 4x4. the engine has been rebuilt and to my knowledge stock. probablly not so stock.

  • @gotenks137690

Ok, if its 300lbs of torque then you do not have 20lbs more torque. You have 20 less hp from this 5.9 yes, and 20 or so lbs less torque. The Jeep 5.9 is 245hp, and 345lbs of torque more then the dodge, according to what i have found your dodge weighs about the same as my Jeep. Wouldnt mind racing you at the local drag strip for kicks lol. :)

  • @1ownjoo2 Your confused bro. I drive a chevy. My chevy will smash on your jeep 5.9 anyway. I've proved it many times over.

  • @gotenks137690

    Lol ok whatever you say.

  • @1ownjoo2 its not like you know whats under my hood. with your 6 second 0-60 time i can still beat you. sooo. sorry.

  • @gotenks137690

You havent shown a single video of you smashing anything, i doubt very much you would beat a Jeep that is lighter and faster then a dodge truck. The dodge pickup's you raced weighed alot more then your tiny truck did and engines werent as powerfull as the Jeeps. Your crazy

  • @gotenks137690

I've found enough info, and watched enough video's on youtube of 1989 1500 350's to see your truck is slow. Hell most of the video's on here are showing in the range of 9-11 seconds from 0-60. Thats just as slow as this video... You can reply back all your want, but im done with this post. I already won, i know how fast your truck is and it would be 2 car lengths behind any stock Jeep or Dakota.. A few tiny mods to the 5.9 and you'll be 4 car lengths back

  • @1ownjoo2 thats funny. nice to know you kmow my truck inside out. my 0-60 is timed at under 8 seconds. my slowest is 8 1/2. that was before intake and exhaust. ive smoked hemi's easy. i dont think i have to worry bout a little jeep with a magnum.

  • Comment removed

  • @gotenks137690

8 1/2 is what my inline 6 cylinder gets btw... my Jeep does 6.8 stock, what makes you think your upgrades would beat me with the same bolt ons ?

  • @1ownjoo2 ok. my ratings for stock are those numbers. besides mine is a single cab chevy shortbed with smaller tires that came stock. some k&n, exhaust, intake manifold. ive beaten 5.9 jeeps. mustang gts. its all the same to me.

  • @gotenks137690

I just looked up the rated times for your vehicle... 0-60 is 8.1 seconds, The 1/4 mile is 17.2 seconds at 78mph..

My Jeep is 0-60 at 6.8 seconds, and the qaurter mile is 15.2 seconds at 89 mph

The only thing your Chevy is faster then is the Dodge pickup. I seriously doubt you have ever raced a Jeep 5.9, as they are extremely rare to comeby, and unless you know someone who owns one your talkin abouta your ass

  • Give me an explanation ? The 360 and Magnum is a 40 year old engine.. If it was such a peice of shit why was in production so long hmmm ? Its one of the best, most reliable V8 engines every made. Even the current 5.7 Hemi's are Magnum block's.

    You an idiot

  • @1ownjoo2 its cause chrysler is retarded company. theyve gone bankrupt twice

  • @chinchillawrangler

thats true, i see more chrysler cars on the road then pretty much anything, When i say chrysler i mean a combo of Jeep, Dodge, Ram, and the Chysler brand. So i never understood why they seem to not be able to make any money... But now that french company Fiat owns most of chysler so i dunmo, I just hope Fiat doesnt ruin Jeep and Dodge

  • @1ownjoo2 italian.

  • @1ownjoo2 5.7 Hemi blocks have nothing in common with the 360 LA blocks. Nothing at all.

  • @amfan12

The 360 LA isnt the same as the magnum either, i guess i should correct myself, 5.7's are called hemi magnum's i dont know why. But anyway what a lot of people dont relise is the 5.9 in its crate form has as much HP and torque then the 5.7 does, the engines on the production vehicles the intake manifold It was built for low rpm torque and sacrificed a lot of hp because of it. I honestly dont know why they moved from the 4.0 and magnum's to the Pentastar and Hemi..

  • @1ownjoo2 Learn about emissions and drivability. A 390HP 5.7 Hemi is much cleaner, and has far better drivability and fuel economy than an equivalent 390HP LA/Magnum. The 318/360 had no chance of meeting stricter emissions while making 21st century power.

  • For you guys who dont know these engines, he obviously has something wrong with it plenum is probably bad which really robs gasmileage and power.. If this thing was working right he should be doing half that speed around 7 seconds which for a truck is really quick.

  • every one knows the 5.9 is a piece of shit and doesnt even get close to the vortec 5.3

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • This is a really slow 5.9, you took off at 2 seconds and got to 60 at 14 seconds. This mean you did 12 seconds, 11 if you want to be generous. That means you are offically slower then a toyota prius .. lol

The way the shift points were at it seems like you took off in 2nd gear and not first, and the bad star at the beggining it still shouldnt be doing 12 seconds. My 5.9 Jeep does 0-60 in 7 seconds or a little under

  • @G3TLOOSHemi actually the 5.9 in the 3/4 ton is rated at 8888

  • mmm is really slow

  • My wife tells me that if she leaves her Ram 5.9 in 2nd on the selector lever that it accelerates faster. You may try that.

  • @andresjdmfull

yeah it is slow, but one of the best motors ever made(opinion) and does me just fine weather on the highway or in the mud.

  • Is anyone else wondering why he said "Oh Shit" What? "Did you not just see that"?

  • thats what my 2-door 2wd Dakota 3.9 does at 8000 ft

  • hahahahahha slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • i have a 98 360 durango whats all this about a plenum gasket??? trying to squeeze a little more power out of her any tips? already got air filter new wires and plugs and exhaust taken care of....

  • @ddog0804 plenum gasket is under the kegger (intake manifold) Kegger is alum, plenum plate is steel. The 2 pieces expand & contract at different rates (under hot/cold conditons) this can/will cause the factory cork gasket to shear & leak oil from the lifter valley into the intake. If you pop off your air filter (cai or factory box) & without mtr running open tb bores, use a flashlight & mirror to see inside. Thin film of oil is normal, anything more that & its probably leaking & needs replacing

  • @rmindydotcom ok thank you

  • @rmindydotcom ok thank you for explaining that ill check it tomarrow :)

  • you need a new water pump, your not over heating but your needle shouldnt even scrap the 2 on 210

  • Thumbs up!

  • 12sec? Id assume thats a QC 4x4 with 3.55grs.

I agree check the plenum, notorious for leaking & killing power

    My 96 5.9 Indy stock 0-60 in 7.65 seconds(15.89-1/4)

With bolt ons dropped to 5.41sec(13.99-1/4m).

    7psi boost from a Procharger improved to 4.13sec (12.91 1/4m)

New setup will be MUCH faster, ps. vid of it running 12.9 & 13.0s on my channel

  • @rmindydotcom I love people who know how to GOOGLE and use copy/paste to make them appear to have "decent" rides :)

  • @Runkleforskin, feel free to google me ;) Been known online as RM-Indy since the mid/late 90s. Im sure some of the pages from my website will come up as will posts that Ive made on dodgetalk, dodgeforum or bionicdodge, also moderator on dodgetruck & dragtruk though havent been on those for a few years. Pic I used on my channel here is my Magnum 360 w/30 over & 4" stroke. With the amount of polish & powder coating Ive done just to the motor alone, consider it well above "decent" as u put it ;)

  • @rmindydotcom Here again, claiming to be someone else. I am a dick, and i am an asshole to everyone, but at least I tell the truth. Quit trying to redeem yourself on youtube, you dont have a dodge truck, you aren't the person you claim to be. End of story.

  • @Runkleforskin you left out one trait, that would be troll

  • I LOVE THAT SOUND!!!!! best V8 from dodge well also got the hemi thats good as well:)

  • WHat did u see? and is that a stick?

  • I like Dodges, I'm actually gonna get a Ram in like a Week, but I was raised with Fords. I prefer Fords, But I think dodges are just as Good. Same goes for Chevy I guess.... lol

  • @dbrandinni Yeah. I'm getting an '02 Ram with a 360 in a week, I would prefer a Cummins but I can't afford one at the moment. It's my uncles truck so he's selling it to me cheap.

I was raised Ford but I like Dodges just as well. Never really liked Chevys but I wouldn't turn one down.

  • lol piece of shit

  • not bad for a 98 my dads got a 96 ram with 275000 miles on and it runs like a fucking champ, still got alot of power still packed in her, things a beast.

  • 5.9 or 3.9? barely seems faster then a V6. only like 245HP though, so not really shocking.

  • @watso64

HP is not EVERYTHING, its got 340lbs of torque thats a hella lot, and there is something wrong with his engine obviously ... a 5.9 can do 7 seconds stock.. for a 4200lbs+ truck thats pretty quick

  • @1ownjoo2 ur pushing the 7 seconds stock thats a dakota the ram does it on average 8-10.. mine is in the 7-8 rang but i have traction problems or it would be quicker.. ive given a hemi a run for its money and even mustangs. from 60-100 i was on a 04 gts ass riding his bumper the entire way.. thought he could out run me.. and ive beaten my buddys 94 5.0

  • @dodge2289

Well i drive a Jeep not a pickup, but the magnum engines are known for bad plenum gaskets which leaks oil into the system.. Causing poor mpg and poor engine performance.

  • @dodge2289

This guy got like 12 seconds, so i honestly think its an engine problem

  • Comment removed

  • Did you seriously expect to accelerate quickly?! It's a truck not a sports car, it has a heavy frame and designed for towing/hauling. It also has a 4x4 system so that's about 500 pounds extra weight there. You even lose acceleration with the suspension and tires as they are designed to flex much more than a sports car.

  • hey look a dodge ram with a full tank of gas.....don't see many of them nowadays....ultra rare

  • SLOW AS FUCK

  • i've seen diesels that rev higher lol

  • YO SHIT DID YOU NOT JUST SEE THAT?!

  • yes very slow

  • did you nutural drop this?

  • its only slow cuz its a 4x4 a ram 5.9 that isnt 4x4 would be a bit faster 4x4 trucks arnt meant to go fast unless their baja truks or sumthin

  • @PROUD602 Most baja trucks aren't 4X4

  • @TheShankinator i know now i found out a couple days ago

  • That thing is sluggish.

  • I miss that sound. Drove a 99 2500 4x4 service truck with the 360. Broke down quite a bit in the end, but that truck went through everything, even had it down a street flooded up to the window line with 33's on it. Alternator started to make a whine after but thats it.

  • dam, almost 11 second 0-60 not that great.....

  • lol 12 sec

  • @G3TLOOSHemi

Thats nothing to do with cylinder shut off, its all in the gearing, you sir, are a fucking idiot. and MDS or the multiple displacement system is 2008+ models only.

I love when 16 year old kids get on youtube thinking they know there stuff.

  • @palombax "you sir, are a fucking idiot." .. lmfao reminds me of something i would say.. well put

  • @palombax my 06 has mds, so does my brothers 07, not sure about my dads 05

  • its got to have a bad plenum it does look slow i have a dodge 1500 with the 5.9 and it does a lil better then this also has a leaking plenum

  • haha man cylinder shutoff has nothing to do with engine speed. that's all in your gears and differential.

  • @drewglis no its not lmao, when your engine kicks down into just four cylinders it idles your motor down around 400 to 500 rpm, does mine every time, and thats why my 331 whp gets between 19 and 20 mpg on the highway when i baby it

  • @sappbigshotter it is physically impossible to change the rpms without changing gears unless you have 2 separate crankshafts or something...and im pretty sure thats not the case. ask a mechanic if you dont believe me.

  • @drewglis then tell me why my truck kicks down 400 rpm when my mds light comes on which means my truck is running on 4cyl?? when i put my truck on tow haul it turns off my mds and my truck runs normaly, but only gets around 16 mpg highway.

  • @sappbigshotter that is your torque converter locking. simple as that.

  • @drewglis why would it do that only when my mds is on and not when in tow haul? none of my other rams did that but they didnt have mds.

  • @sappbigshotter because mds comes on when your torque converter locks...trust me man. shutting cylinders off doesnt decrease engine speed, it doesnt work that way, it just means 4 cylinders arent firing.

  • @drewglis well, , it states that at a steady cruising speed above 40 mph the engine kicks off 1-4-6-7 cylinders. and can maintain reagular 180 degree firing on a v4, sais that when mds is engaged and the 4 cylinders are inactive that engine speed is decreased 300 to 400 rpm until the other 4 cylinders are activated.

  • @G3TLOOSHemi Thanks man that is good info. I found a 2003 Hemi for 8k with 110k miles by my house but it went quick cause I wasnt sure yet. I was going to get a Ford but they are so ugly. How many lugs is your truck?

  • @G3TLOOSHemi I thought the 4cyl shut off technology wasnt available till like 2008s

  • @SamuraiCommando Caddys used to do that a long time ago, i think they were the first or at least among the first to use that technology.

  • You think the Hemi gets better MPG than the 5.9 in a 4x4 1500 Ram? Ive been looking to get one but I am torn between saving a little cash on the 5.9 or getting the Hemi. How much is the tow difference?

  • True dodge right here SLOW!!!!

  • Look around youtube more dude, this video is the slowest 5.9 on here. And these older motors are beasts that have quite a bit of torque and last a long ass time. Of course a hemi is gonna win in a race though stock for stock it has much more hp and hell more torque to

  • i got a 1998 2500 v8 dodge ram quarter ton and the transcase went out on it and i got the whole trans case and transmission rebuilt by a 4x4 shop in califorinia and now it has all 1 ton transomission and 1 ton transcase it has and ot of tork now

  • With shorter gears these older rams are monsters

  • @G3TLOOSHemi its just a 4.7L ext cab but its faster than this by far. i gotta find some one brave enough to record while i drive. unless i tape the camera to the steering wheel.

  • @G3TLOOSHemi it's only an automatic. If it was a manual it would've been faster, hell if he would've used 1st, 2nd, then drive he could've smoked too. My friend has one and it cooks.

  • my 04 dak does 0-60 in 6-7 sec. shes a mean bitch

  • grbberblusnake:: your ram prob would walk this one because it has the typical dodge tranns where the gears are to far apart. i think in 02 - 03 they put a new tranns on the rams which is where you get smoother shifts and a wider power band.

  • titan suck comparing it to any of the big 3 is insulting

  • and by the way this guy's engine sucks because i have and 03 ram 1500 with

5.9l gas and it would walk this shit

  • @RAMpageHemi the titan weighs about

5,200 pounds its fast the hemi is faster than the 5.9l only by .060 secs faster in 0-60 time but the 5.9l would win in a tug of war match i know ive experienced it

  • my 2.2 s10 will outrun this thing

  • false

  • WTF thats a slow truck. My 98 will do alot better then that.

  • yeah but even so a gmc or chevy can get to 60 quicker than that, its because dodge's engines lack a lot of top end power, look at the 1998 dodge ram road test on motortrend and you will see they said the same thing

  • only the 360, the 318 was quicker than the 360 and the hemi will do donuts around it

  • i dont see how the 360 was so slow with as big an engine block as that is

  • it was restricted to all hell. that motor was so suffocated im surprised it could function

  • 360 got alot of low end towing power thought

  • well yeah it pushes out about 285 horse

  • 5.2 270hp in this case 5.9 300hp 360 of toque stock

  • the 5.2 only punches out about 235 horsepower, cuz i watched on motortrend, the durango and ram with the 5.2 only put out 235 hp and 275 ibs of torque the 5.9 yeah 300 is about right for that

  • the only reason i even know ratings for the 5.9 is because we have one

  • @viperman8788 and i own 1 2 dude your lost in your own spec buddy

  • @jmc9109 the 360 has 245 hp, the 318 has 235...

and that was slow....change the plenum gasket and you'll get to speed quicker....i have a 360, and when you hit 40 mph's id be at 55-60 already.,,,

  • @viperman8788 lol what are you talking about 5.2 is 215 hp and 5.9 is 250 hp and 330 feet of torque stock just go check it out before saying otherwise

  • the 5.2 puts ut 220-230hp and 300-330 lbs torque depending on model year and computer i dont know about the 5.9

  • NOPE HES RATHER EXACTY AT 220 HP.. woth 290 feet of torque. naturally aspired gas 1 had 200 hp...

  • @jmc9109 245 or 250 sprts ones

  • I have a 2001 5.9 , 360 it has bad acceleration but wat can u suspect its a truck

  • wow for a 5.9 that fuckin sucks! a 4.3 vortec could get to 60 faster than that

  • what do you got for gears? what mods do you have?

  • SLOW

  • its a truck you idiot, not supposed to be fast. bet that 5.0 peice of shit is just as slow

  • hahah...

    it has a 5.9 dumbass...

ill smoke that shit even if i take off on 3rd and shift to 5th after lol

  • it took you 12.30 seconds to reach 60mph. get you something built for speed not for tow.

  • My stock Quad-cab Ram with a Hemi weighs about 7,000 lbs and can get from 0-60 in a little less than 8 seconds... and it has 5 year old, worn tires. She can also tow 9,000 lbs.

A stock Quad Nissan Titan 5.6L V8 weighs about 6,000 lbs and can get from 0-60 in less than 7 seconds (its insanity), and tow about 8,000 lbs.

So yeah, while vehicles made for towing may not have the acceleration of a sports car, some of them can actually go pretty fast. And I'm not even mentioning modding them...

  • the titan can get to sixty less that 6 and tows over 10000

  • I'm talking about a 06 stock Titan, that gets 0-60 is 6.5-7.0 seconds. I don't go by what some two-bit jackass blog site says, I primarily go by what I've seen with my own two eyes.

  • asds

  • what people fail to realize is a truck, especially a 4x4(gearing) , is not built NOR geared for speed, but for pulling (towing), and torque.

  • Why does everyone have to hate on the other makes? I have a ford, a chevy, a dodge and a toyota, all 4x4s. Every truck ever made breaks down eventually.

  • everything mechanical will break

  • @TheMitchwilliams

i was with you until you said toyota.

  • engine seems tired, willing to bet it has over 100k on it
