I like the way thi has now been fully given the "personal" touch. It might not be a massive space, but just from looking around you can tell its a place that someone is proud to call home :)
Love the way that you have disguised all the RV features , particularly the shears? and curtains.
I hate the plastic pull down blinds in our RV but it never occurred to me to use home fixtures and fittings. doh..Love the reclining seat. It is so lush.. Fitted foam seats are appallingly uncomfortable .
Looking around your lovely home its hard to see that you are inside an RV You have given me loads of excellent ideas for my RV . Very inspiring thank you

Yay New Mexico. I'm from NM. I love the green. I've become known as Leprechaun because I love green so much. Nice layout, and decorating though. I love the sheer fabric.
Hey, cool vids. You and I are on the same wave length; I would love to get rid of my booth dinette, they are such a waste of space, I don't know why they continue to put them in. I have sheers on my windows too (even though my friends laugh at me), they are great for letting light in but still allowing for privacy. And finally, you're little table, I have the identical model it folds down and stores right beside my fridge....except mine was $18 at costco ;) Cheers James
I'm trying to find something for the coming end of days. But seriously I would like to move out on my own and a motorhome or RV of some sort makes the most sense. What do you suggest for someone who isn't REALLY interested in moving around, but mostly just wants cheaper living life style.
@divineagent -- Cheaper is such a relative term that it is hard for me to know what would work for you. If I were trying to be as cheap as possible, and was willing to stay put, I'd buy a used travel trailer and find someone who would let me use their RV hook ups on their land. (requesting on Craiglist, probably). RV parks are going to be at least $300 a month. Vandwelling is fun if you are on the move, but you have to stealth camp everywhere.
I like her, hard to find a girl who wants to live in an RV!
I never want to own a home, I think it is a scam, you own the home but you have to pay taxes ever year or the government will take it from you even if you paid your taxes every month on time or if you own it out right!

Been living in campers (cab over and pull behinds) since December 1995. Private, cheap, and easy to heat and cool. Not much room, but a couple of out buildings will take of that problem or a storage facility. Getting rid of the old camper on Tuesday and in the market for another good, used 8 foot cab-over or 12 to 14 foot pull behind.
Mmmn. I'm trying to picture in my minds eye what that outside of you RV looks like. I have been reading your blog. Seems each day would be an adventure, when living in an RV.
Most appealing, is the ability to leave a city, any time you feel like a change.
If the climate doesn't suit you, then just turn on the key and hit the road. I think you are way ahead of your time.
Jennifer, food for thought. Consider writing an autobiography, then find a publisher. Your life is unique, share your story with the world. Becoming an author could be your new profession.
@wynn904: It is not cheaper than living in an apartment, for me. It is cheaper than living in my house. Check out my blog livinginmycar com for more info on that stuff.
@wynn904 Electricity is free once you have a solar setup. That could cost $300 and up.Water can be had from many sources but I get mine from the same place I dump my waste or while in a campground.Internet is free in many places.
I have the same color cabinets in my kitchen ... and recently painted the walls the same color green ... I love it ... A few of my sisters ?questioned? the tone of green at first ... then within a few months ... painted their kitchens the same ... I was raised in an RV family ... I love the lifestyle ... nothing compares to being with nature ... Your RV is awesome!
I am planing to buy an Rv and live in it full time but the problem is that I live in the city and bc of my job and can't find a cheep place to put it.
@whyisthisnottyping Put an ad on Craigslist--- you might find some homeowner who has space on their property and needs a few hundred bucks--- or an onsite caretaker for an estate.
Love your RV and the colour choice is really soothing but homely. My husband and I are trying to buy a house at the mo but the banks dont like me as I'm self employed...if all else fails we are getting an RV to save money and buy a small patch somewhere for cash. Personally I think I would prefer an RV anyway.
this is great to see, my wife and i plan to move into an RV next year (full time) and we are both 28. i don't want to do what my counter-parts are doing, i want to live differently
The couch is a 'jackknife' bed. Sort of like a futon, you pull on the bottom and it flattens out. It is uncomfortable because the lumbar part of the sofa back is a huge lump that doesn't flatten out. I removed the dinette, which actually was a reasonably comfortable bed for a person under 5'8". Both are single width. Overhead bunk is a double bed, but extra long.
Jennifer, life is as beautiful as you are, so enjoy it. My happy place is when I'm out there camping, fishing and just sit around camp fire letting the smell saturated me. Loved the peacefulness and dark sky that displaced billions of stars. Hey life is too short Jennifer, so enjoy it.
Sleeping on the cab over bed was much easier and more comfortable than I expected. it is worth the saved space. I have a two inch memory foam pad over the original mattress. The rear bed models have better resale value, though. I've met a lot of people in person and online who've moved into trailers because of an economic crisis. They loved it!
Good tip on having a vehicle in tow for every day activity. I've never owned an RV, nor slept in one. I quit working in Iraq last year and have been traveling overseas for a year now. Looking forward to renting an RV and take it from there.
Trying to use my RV as my sole vehicle was a mistake, for exactly the reasons you described. If I were starting over, I'd probably drive a tow vehicle and tow a higher quality trailer.
What problems have you had, if any, with an RV as your sole vehicle? I assume any time you want to venture from an RV park at a distance farther than walking, even just a quick run to a convenient store or fast food, you'll have to unhook everything and drive your RV. I'm curious how that is working out for you. Thanks very much.
Hi Jennifer. Now that you've been sleeping on the bed over the cab for a while, does it still feel comfortable? I'm looking for a similar RV model and I see one with a smaller bathroom but with a bigger bed towards the rear of the RV (Winnibago View).
In your travels, do you meet many former homeowners who resorted to RV living because of the economic crisis (job loss, defaulted on mortgage, etc)?
It heats up quickly in the summer without AC. My windows open up and out (like an awning), so up to 85 degrees I usually have them open and it is comfortable since the breeze will blow right through the RV. The space is so tiny that it cools/heats very quickly with the AC or heater. I sleep with heat off (and have been in 20 degrees or so). I think when you live in an RV, you feel a bit closer to the elements/weather changes, and I've found that to be an unexpectedly pleasant change. Good luck!

Hi Jennifer! I briefly checked out your interesting blog and I wish you good luck and adventures.
How is the insulation in your particular model with respect to the elements (keeping warm when it's cold, cool when hot) without turning on the climate control? I hear RVs aren't great this regard.
I just want to say that I have been checking out motorhomes and came accross your videos and I hope to one day be as brave as you!!! My dream is to own my own RV and travel for at least a year. I'm in school now but every penny goes into saving for my "Year". Thank you for letting us into your adventures.Because of you, I feel like I can go rving too!!! Thanks so much Jennifer!
That is actually an important question that most of us forget! It was an afterthought for me, but, luckily, my windows open up and out (like an awning), so all of my big stuff goes in an out the side window.
@JenniferBlogAccount You did a beautiful job. I'm thinking of making the full time jump this summer but I totally hear you on the "not wanting your RV to look like an RV" point. I'm sure it's a pretty basic question but one I can't figure out. How do you get the furniture in and out during the remodel. It doesn't seem like a dinette or captain's chair would fit through those tiny doors. Do the windows come off or am I missing something?

I used a primer and latex at first, then just latex (no primer) on the rest. It was the most difficult painting job of my life! The paint just smeared. Over the course of a long week, I put on almost five coats.
Also, since the weird flat finish of the wall paper highlights every ugly mark, I discovered that putting the paint on very thick and then just brushing up and down (expensive brush) gave it a smoother textured look.
I doubt I could do it again, but once I started had to finish it!
i have my monthly expenses posted on my blog - livinginmycar com. Search the category 'money' on the right side. Parking ranges from RV parks to Walmarts, to stealth camping. Septic/sewer is as easy as connecting the hose to the sewer connection - really basic and hard to screw up. I've never felt threatened. The world is safer we sometimes think!
@Jennifer can u tell us ur monthly expenses to live like this. Gas prices are high how much to fill the tank. Do u park at RV parks or wallmarts. Is the septic hard to empty. How safe is it. And better to remain anonymous I think its safer u did it that way.
You sound like a really nice person. You shouldn't be so shy as to not show yourself on camera once in awhile. Everybody likes to see who's speaking and it would make your videos more memorial.
I love what you have done! The sheer curtains, colors, mods, and adding that home feeling. I really want the freedom of completely being off the grid and traveling. I would go completely Fab 5 if I had my own! Great vid!
I love the tiny house concept that is in the early stages. I hope to someday soon unload my big house that I wanted 25 years ago. 2800 square feet is much more than I need. More than I ever needed to be honest
I'm loving the buddha statue! Thanks for sharing the tour of your rv. Where in New Mexico were you boondocking when this was taken? "Make the journey worthy of the destination"...Laurie
Wonderful video. I love your rv. I have a tiny one like yours but looks very ugly. You gave me some good ideas in making it look like a real home ;) Thanks for sharing!!!

@MoorOriginalNeter - Lots of different things can work, but I'd do a cheaper fifth wheel or trailer with a used truck, as you can get more space for less money and you really need that second car. Make sure you get a private bedroom as it can get kind of cramped on a rainy day (or week) when everyone needs their own space....

It doesn't seem like a dinet or captain's chair would fit through those tiny doors.

Love your living space!Very cozy.Did you have to use an oil based paint to cover those walls?

i have my monthly expenses posted on my blog - livinginmycar com.

It does have a slide out (the sofa), but these Sprinter RVs are narrower - only about 7'7" wide closed up.

nice little Gulf Stream you've got there....for clarification, your RV does NOT have a slide-out...right?
