Blew up one once, but we bring ours to 7000rpm and...... the fawkin dipper off the crank broke off so I wasn't getting any oil splashing on the bottom end. Started getting hot then blew the crank in 6 pieces.
@queefjeremy hey Briggs last longer than any other engine a saw a Briggs with no oil run for 35 minutes no oil dirt and mud on cooling fins it seized then cooled still ran 3 years later take a look around on you tube its VARY hard to permanently kill a brigs i have one that was hydro locked 8 times still runs great the have been the best engine for a LONG time everybody prefers Briggs over other shit they call engines nothin runs like a brigs if u have had probs with them its ur fault
u should have just gotten a new head for it -.-

@benrobinson72 put a washer in the clyinder to kill a briggs... never done it myself cuz i like briggs and straton engines :P

i had this motor in my snaper, and it did die. but lasted like 15 yrs.

could use it on a push mower engine so it has a 5 HP instead of 3HP, i did that on my old mtd pushmower, more power to cut tall grass
