  • how can you be sure there are no weak spots in the ice?

  • @Picarusslim That black ice what rally is steel ice is wery strong, that name tells it "steel"... But about only 5cm ~2" can hold normal weight human (: I think there is none of spots what got less than 5cm ice. Steel ice is so strong that you can run on it and you see that the ice is doing little waves but it dont brake, and that ice must be that less than 5cm that you can do waves.

  • are you people dumb how do you dislike that all there doing is skating are you like "that ice does'nt look right DISLIKE"

  • I would laugh if The ice broke

  • GAY

  • beautiful ice...im so envy...:)

  • how fast do you go at highspeed?

  • Finland is a part of Sweden

  • @fBL0ND No it's not dipshit.

  • how can do ice be black? And it's no snow on the side of the lake ? Im living in the northen sweden but I don't get this..

  • @M1KeHD Jävligt kallt, inget snöfall? Bara högtryck så blir det så där.

  • dream

  • That ice is PERFECT.

  • what sort of weather paradox allows ice this smooth?

  • @NonSilentKiller cold temperature .. really strange paradox rofl

  • @BadWithNames123 yeah dumbass- if all it takes is cold temps, every lake in canada would be like this. fuckin' retard.

  • @NonSilentKiller you re doing it wrong...

  • @BadWithNames123 derp derp

  • @NonSilentKiller well everybody knows canadians can´t handle ice.. so well i don´t really blame you : )

  • @BadWithNames123

I used to think you were cool, andrew. then I saw your okcupid profile. lols.

  • @NonSilentKiller fail.. ... the name andrew does not even exit in german.. ; )

  • U idiots it's not gonna break it can crack but it's fucking 2 feet thick lol

  • you play hockey on this ice the puck better be white

  • in america we say taco

  • onko nuo aivan ääliöitä :DDDD

  • @fio667 I live!

  • That's crazy ice! Lucky bastards!!!!!

  • my best friend's step-sister makes $75 an hour on the laptop. She has been fired from work for 5 months but last month her paycheck was $7926 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Go to this web site and read more...MakeCash18.cöm

  • How thick is that ice?

  • this honestly looks like one of the most relaxing things. just skating with no boundaries. pure enjoyment.

  • U no Wht would suck if u feel in the mindoll

  • i live in finland

  • I would be afraid the ice would break.

  • I am scared shitless of skating on frozen ponds because I don't trust the ice and don't want to get stuck in the middle....but this is just insane lol

  • holy shoot looks like that could break easily

  • @DonutDone99

But thankfully, at least by the sound of it, that ice actually seems pretty thick :D

  • isnt this dnagerous> sorry im from sunny singapore.

  • I WANNA SKATE ON THAT ICE

  • Ei tuol oo lunta?

  • iha paras :DD

  • OMG! I just can't help the feeling that if someone falls into that ice they're done!

  • This is something I would want to do one day. I'd be too scared, though. You hear about people falling through the ice all the time, but I live in Florida, USA so it never gets cold enough for the lakes to freeze like this :*(

  • @MrV902 One needs help from somebody experienced: when the ice is thick enough, were are the streamy parts, or wells (ice is thin there) etc. Plus they usually carry some iron spikes, fit to hand, so even if they'd fall, they could climb from the ice with those spikes.

The experienced skaters don't really fall through the ice - it's like in any outdoors activity: You gotta know the lay of the land.

  • how fast are they going?

  • @emedemarco See the landscape whizzing by? That gives a rough picture. I'd say like the bike (not moter) moves on tarmac.

  • No voi perkele että on siisti jää

  • Black ice skating beats sex any time!

  • @sablatnic depending from the company...:)

  • @ekymalainen

    ;-)

  • @sablatnic or sex on black ice? :D

  • @mynnichi

It would probably be too cold, but absolutely worth a try!

  • @sablatnic Then you have never had sex!

  • @FAikYz

Have, but have been skating on black ice too.

Btw, don't hope the missus will see this!

  • @sablatnic na, sex all the way for me! black ice doesnt even get me a boner!

  • Taco!!!!

  • i hate living in the Nevada desert

  • thats a frozen lake

  • if i were u i would mot be doing that

  • oh my god pond skating is sooo much fun! i live outside of chicago, by the woods and theres a pond that freezes every winter!! last year when we had the blizzard, we just brought our shovels, and cleared like 4 ft of snow from like half the pond! this year its not frozen yet, because of this dang hot weather weve got :/

  • There should be a cross-country triathlon using skates, running shoes and skis. You could cross Finland pretty fast.

  • @kozmon0t the only problem with that is if the ice is this nice there is not enough snow for skis, and if there is enough snow for skis the ice will be covered over. Interesting idea though.

  • that ice is scetchy

  • aika vitu siisti paikka oon käyny uimas tuol :D

  • very nice we have same sleek frozen rivers i russia. i would recommend the nhl winther classic on one of river like that

  • @aquabullle I think the event should be organized right away when the ice is like that, let see...our skating club will be 100 years old in 2012, so it would be great to organize event on a perfect ice!

  • Finland here I come!

  • I get so scared of falling in. How could you tell the whole lake was frozen?

  • @diegoteinog ....We check the ice many times before skated there, so it was 100% sure that the Ice is tick enough and it was around 10cm.

  • That lake is HUGE and the whole thing is frozen?! That's effin amazing oh my god. Things like this is what I'm missing in my life.

  • @ichbineincoolcat Yes, we skated also during midnight as there was full moonlight above us, I think I will never forget that experience and I hope to see similar ice still someday, this year does not looks so good as the winter has not yet started here in Finland...it is just raining everyday!

  • @ekymalainen It seems freagin amazing. Just ridiculous. When I visit Finland one day lets hang out!

  • @ekymalainen

Lots of rain here in Eastern Ontario as well ( Cornwall ) We usually have a good foot or two of snow by now, Late November usually. Not a speck on the ground. Temperatures way above seasonal : (

  • @613Unknown Yes it is just raining, raining and raining here and with +1 to +5 so not looking good for the ice...but maybe after Christmas it can be a bit colder here, let us see.

  • @ichbineincoolcat i go to lake in Maine and it is 14 miles long

  • im glad i live in finland

  • @ekymalainen 25 inch

  • Jaaa smirkhlataan, smirkhlataan...

  • huhhu näyttää kyllä että ois ehkä millin paksunen jää =D

  • I love Finland+I live there :)

  • nice ass o.o

  • That's the lake where our cabin is

  • That's why I live in Finland! Everywhere are just like there! (:

  • haha i live in finland you fail :D

  • DUDESONS ARE THE BEST! thumbs up if you have heard about em.

  • i wish i lived in finland

  • @fio667 ...well you can do ok here with US&UK language and if you like skating on the lake ice, then ok. But otherwise a pretty expensive country to live on, but I think that is the case in every country nowadays! :)

  • @fio667 It sucks here.. Rude people, expensive stuff and the language SUCKS :| The weather is nice though, so is the fact that it's like the safest place you could possibly live. But yeah, Sweden is better (I live in Finland)

  • @cappew22 Yes I agree on that, but the ice was ok then. I prefer more the Estonian people than the Swedes, but I think every place has the good and bad things. Hope to see some ice soon, I think it will take still 2 - 3 weeks before any possibility for a lake ice

  • @ekymalainen i just wanna move out from finland. to england....

  • @TheFunkyfeelings That is ok, but is there any ice?

  • @fio667 I wish I didn't live in Finland. well yeah, there is good and bad things there too. no country is perfect:(

  • @ismolaitelaVevo wtf are you talking about, what is the bad side of Finland?

  • @puiselo I love hot days. and its not hot as possible in Finland that's one

  • @ismolaitelaVevo your english lacks in intelligence, I don't know what are you saying, but just to remind you, this summer in finland the temperature was about 25 -29 degrees Celsius

  • @fio667 i live on finland and doesn't has still snow

  • @nigo1996 Its Snowing in East Finland :):):):)

  • @fio667 i live too :D

  • @fio667 im glad i do :))

  • It has something meditative, contemplative

  • @zaggy3110 Yes I agree too on that one! When there is now wind and almost total silence you can free you mind totally while skating on top of the ice and just feel the speed and rhythm.

  • Road Bicycle riding in the summer Speed Skating in winter way better than Spining at the gym .

  • @simondr70 I totally agree!

  • do they have anything like this anywhere near toronto?

  • @lilblitz Should be if the weather is just perfect for this kind of Ice. I think we will have ice here in Finland in 2 - 3 weeks now, but not sure of course.

  • @ekymalainen looks like fun, how do you tell where the thin parts are, if any??

  • @lilblitz We went to the ice a couple of days before we did any skating and we drilled holes to the ice in many places on the lake and we did see that the ice was 8 - 10 cm thick. As the lake was pretty small it was safe to skate there but still we always skated as a group...never alone!

  • Notice the ice is breaking around them... so this is skill.

  • @kalehockey Maybe the possibility of drowning a horrible death? I'll keep my feet on dirt. But it looks sweet.

  • @DJCr0ssify The lake is not so deep, so there is around 1 - 2 m water under the ice where we are skating and of course we never ever skate alone because it is safer that way.

  • @ekymalainen 6 feet of water at that temperature would kill you in a matter of minutes. Just saying. Depth doesn't matter when you've got hell frozen over between your legs.

  • That wouldve been funny if one of you fell in ..

  • @iRamondxDank ...yes but our main goal is to move as fast as possible in top of the ice, so that is why we do not like "touchdowns" :)

  • good, but its running at about 5 frames per second

  • @RoddyTheGreat ...sorry for my old Nokia mobile phone, but that was the only device that worked in -10 C.

  • @ekymalainen fair enough

  • its a perfekt ice for skating

  • omg. thats absolutely fantastic

must be something that you want never stop

  • @amaskiea ...yes we skated also during the night as it was a pure moonlight, the only problem then was the temperature as it was around - 15 in C, but we had Sauna cottage and a few drinks too, so the feeling was like in heaven, but not in top of the clouds (in top of the perfect ICE) :)

  • Thats what Jesus should have done.

  • @DigitalDNA yes I agree, but we did on top of the ice as we are not TRUE believers! :)

  • That's nothing even my grandma can do this only not with that speed and on pavement but body position is exactly the same.

  • I live in finland and I still haven't ever seen ice like that :DD -,-

  • Mahtava!

  • you could get to your buddies house super quick in finland

  • @lilblitz Yes but I hope that our buddies would not live very far, as more you have the speed the shorter the distance will be! :)

  • I'd love to do that

  • @GranulatedStuff Me too!!

  • ИДИТЕ НАХУЙ!

  • You guys should have speed sex!!

  • @sorich it was not "hot enough" for that! :)

  • thats so weird cuz before it was a bigg lake u coulnt even swam threw it and now u just skate on it lmaooo!

  • Yes, waiting for the next winter already, only few months to go! :)

  • STOP THE CLICKING OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • anyone else think of the song "dadadadada da da da da dadadadada da da da da"

  • you ever fallen through ice while skating??

  • Alright who let Micheal J Fox hold the camera

  • so what happens if u fall

  • people drive there vehicles and park there snowmachine trailers on lakes like this in alaska. but there is snow on the lake.

  • y is there no snow on the lake or the shore?

  • I wish I were watching you do this from shore with a catapult! :D

  • duuuude that looks fun i love skateing so i would love to skate on a lake lololo

  • this looks like so much fun

  • Great ice!

  • the sound of the skates boggles my mind

  • Even if dude fell through the ice and drowned, he'd still Finnish! Get it FINNISH?! Haha You know this is in Finland and even if dude fell through the ice...he'd still....Oh FORGET IT!!!

  • please dramatic fall

  • Patrick: FINLAND!!!

  • That's no fail but the ice was about to give way

  • The ice was more than 10cm so it was very safe to skate, trust me!

  • @LILR4V3N Just because it's ice and there's water under it doesn't mean it's not safe to be on. Hell, near my house in the winter, we have a parking lot for cars with a runway and parking areas for planes and a whole party on the ice. I live in Wisconsin btw, ice is fun. ^.^

  • very peaceful scene

  • how thick is the ice your skating on?

  • Damn, u fall through that ice, ur screwed

  • wow amazing ice

  • lol foreigners

people drive cars here over ice

  • beautiful ice

  • if you would walk on the ice it would brake, but if you're skating fast it doesnt brake

  • @infera1 not true, never count on that.

  • doubt i would ever do that lol

  • Beautiful ice!

  • hi guys this is me skating in canada on a lake near my house, the ice was about 3 inches thick..

  • beautiful

  • ...ice was 10cm and like you can see in the Video Responses "skating lake09 in Fin it was like a mirror...we skated also in the moonlight and I am pretty sure that it was "once in the lifetime experience"!

  • @ekymalainen Thats true, i have a cabine next to a lake and this is very rare, it must be really cold and no snow for the water to freeze like that. And this is totally safe, the ice is black because there is no air bubbles in it, the ice could be 1foot thick and still be completely black. Here its 10cm witch is thick enough too...

  • how thick waz the ice?

  • Unbelievable ice!

Id love to have a game of pond hockey on there

  • No the ice was not resurfaced, but the weather conditions were perfect for this kind of ice, you can see a better view from the ice by looking at the Video Responses/Skating lake09 in Fin, the videon has been taking in the same lake day before.

  • was the ice resurfaced? it looks to good to be true

  • Thats awesome, you filmed practice for speed skating? Alot can be learned from this
