it wasn't realistic, it was an attempt to make it appear 'techno-organic' and less blocky, as were the g1 appearances. Any machine that wants to be effecient won't have vital engine parts hanging out as armour so that when damaged, the alternate mode is now inoperable. Fuck michael bay's design.

Your no sap, you see them for who they are. I don't -hate- any Decepticon...they all seem lost in some way, with Megatron being the most confused of all. But Soundwave, and a few others, are almost.."found". Like they're at peace with who they are.

They always remind me of the same way Prime is just Prime. Most of them are trying to be Megatron of Optimus, but the ones like Soundwave are just....being Soundwave.

In the cartoons he was the only useful decepticon... infact without him there would be no energon cubes for megatron to collect energy with. Tie in the fact that Ravage, Rumble and Lazerbeak always completed missions.

In the new movie however, he's barely seen, doesn't sound as digital and only uses ravage... who gets torn apart by bumblebee. He was much better in the original cartoon.
