@Nicro327 Human encroachment, poaching/hunting, etc. There are times where humans will cull a predator species because they create competition for hunters who want to hunt for 'sport'. Then there's trophy hunting as well, along with poachers killing animals to sell their parts on the black market. Often, predators will go after livestock which gets them killed by ranchers/farmers as well. Though, the odds are kind of against predators just with general survival.

So it seems like one of the best things we can do is work towards conservation and trying to prevent predators from taking livestock so that they aren't harmed. In an are of Africa, Anatoli dogs are being given to farmers and are being used to scare away cheetahs without hurting them. As a result, cheetah mortality in that area has dropped.

Well she is following her instinct, which tells her to run away instead. Small animals like this one don't stand a chance against big predators, if it was a buffalo then they could stay back and fight, and they do that if they are in a herd. The gazelle can run away and reproduce again, they have tons of food compared to a meat eating animal, so they have a much easier time raising their young.

They probably feel something, some kind of loss, but it's definitely not as strong or even the same kind of an emotion as what we would have. As humans we have the most developed limbic system (an area of the brain that deals with emotion, bonding and long-term memory), and thus can display a much greater range of emotions. Other primates have similar abilities. Other mammals seem to move on rather quickly in these situations and forget their young fast.
