good review i have a versa pack and i think that maxpedition does make really good bags a bit price i wish they were a few dollars less or at least made in america that way i could lie to myself and say me spending all this money on a backpack is helping they economy lol
Interesting thing is that my video taking apart a pellet gun got more views than this. How on earth is a guy taking apart basically a toy for ten minutes without saing a single word more interesting than an american guy making an excellent review of some really good equipment?
I was impressed with the reviews on this bag, but it's WAY too expensive for an assault pack. I made my own bugout bag out of a medium ALICE pack. Just as durable and a heck of alot cheaper.
@BetiucTomi I suggest you purchase a Zombie Survival Guide the next chance you get. It covers what to do, where to go, and all of the other questions you may have regarding a zombie invasion. They are available at most book and department stores.
I don't understand why people spend so much money on these bags/back backs. I own alot as well but I buy real (used) military gear used by our great military .... all my bags, shirts, pants, coats are the real deal and super cheap at a local coin shop :)
Couldn't agree more. I have 3 backpacks I use for hiking and storage/bug out purposes. Two of which cost me 80-120 dollars. The third, which is by far my most used, highest quality a favorite back is a digital camo bag I ordered for 35 bucks off Amazon.....go figure!
@purkjason I'm not sure about the Maxpedition stuff, since it seems like it's all unnecessarily heavy, but I think a lot of people like to look for what works best for them. What the military needs may not necessarily be ideal for everyone.
Hey Sootch, Got to agree Maxpedition is a great company! I have been slowly building a collection of their products and I have the Condor II bag.I use it all the time from hiking, traveling pretty much everything. Simple, easy to customize configurations, and built like a tank! Nice review hope the holidays are good to everyone!
Hey sootch, IYHO what would be the difference between a 2day pack and a 3day/BOB pack? Typically, I have a side satchel that contains just the basics but with my knowledge I can take care of up to 10 ppl, on the otherhand my BOB is very much the same but I add a few more pieces of medical kit (sutures, extra bandages, antiseptics) and maybe some prepackaged food stuffs. So tell me, what is your definition of what makes a good day pack and a good BOB?
Yup, Maxpedition rocks. I just finally got the mini pocket organizer and have been having a lot of fun seeing what I can cram in to the thing logically. Very high quality stuff. AND thanks for the 10% discount at Maxpedition sir!
@tacticalsheepdog Yo man! I read that comment before looking at the username, and was thinking to myself, hmm... sounds like a familiar story, then looked at the user name and chuckled to myself. I knew you'd be watching this vid!!! We haven't talked in a while, give me a call sometime soon man.
I couldn't agree more, I use my condor 2 for everyday highschool and it is loaded to 20 plus pounds every day(I put it on a scale to confirm). My siblings have gone through 2 backpacks this year but my maxpedition will last me for the rest of my academic career.
Good review! Question, how tall are you? I'm 6 foot 4 inches and worry that the 'belt' will end up by my nipples. Currently debating 'tween Vulture and Condor because of that.
I owned a Condor II for years and LOVED THAT BAG. The only thing that finally killed it was backing over it with my car. I squished a bunch of my EDC stuff and the friction of going across my drive way for 5 feet abraded a hole in it. But the stitching was still holding strong only the Nylon body abraded away.
Too much of a commercial for me, you must get their products for gratis. Get real and stop putting out commercials, that's what You Tube is supposed to be about....reality.
I am always amused at the people who goof on you for promoting Maxpedition gear. Yes it's a little pricey but after owning a few pieces of it I can say it is definitely a step above most others out there in quality. A lot of times in life you get what you pay for and for me paying a little extra for something that is going to last a LOT longer is money well spent.
1000 denier is pretty good and I don't know how high they go with backpacks, but I will say that I remember from my retail days way back when that a lot of suitcases are 1500 or even 2000 denier. You get what you pay for though, and luggage is expensive
Got tired of buying my son a backpack for school every 6 months. My son has had this exact backpack now for the last year and a half. He has the COOLEST backpack in school. :) Suckers!!
@sootch00 So I can understand why so many people like the mil-spec gear. It is incredibly durable, modular and organized. However, in the prepping community, that is what everyone goes for. Why doesn't anyone seem to go for gear from like EMS, REI, Northface or the like? In a SHTF situation, wouldn't that lead to greater discretion, and allow you to blend in more? Thanks for the advice, and awesome review!!
This is my main pack and I simply love it! Besides hiking with it, I also load it up with groceries when I am riding my bike from the store, and I sometimes put 30-40 pounds in it and do bicep curls with the carry handle (this is the life of a college student haha). Maxpedition sure knows how to make a solid bag!
Another great review, Sootch. I used to sell MaxP back when I had my retail company...hands down the best quality stuff out there available for the civilian market (and sometimes for the military). I own tons of MaxP stuff, and have never been disappointed. Lots of my friends and coworkers are on to it now too. Keep up the great vids and reviews!
It's the duck back gear, lol. I love the water testing.
