  • DAAAATs my WIIIIFE!

  • Wow...wow...wow....you are fantastic!!

    Great solo!

    I love the kit too.

I've always wanted to be able to create a great solo myself...I guess it takes a lot of good old practice !!!

    Keep up the great work!

    drumzgal :)

  • @drumzgal regarding your comment ... how to create a great drum solo .... i think one of the things we can learn from this solo is how to phrase correctly ... this is not a great solo because the licks are cool , they help , but the reason this is a great solo is because she phrases in a musical way ..in a way that makes musical sense ...its not just sitting there throwing down random licks at breakneck speed its about themes and ideas and continuity and dynamics ...she has all of these elements

  • I agere whit u, and I understand what u´re saying cause I play the piano... It´s just the same formula in all instruments: Skills+ talent + musical sense = great player.

  • Hey sweetfly66.

Yes, I agree with you. Too many solos are just all over the place at breakneck speed - this one is very well put together & as you say, she phrases in a musical way.

Maybe one day I'll come up with one myself :)

  • one way to develop continuity and themes in solos is to practice one thing over and over again ... say triplets ... RLFoot ... RLF .... after you can play them evenly , then you can distribute them around the kit and make phrases and come up with themes .... try not to stray away from the RLF triplet pattern ...the only thing that changes is how you distribute it on the kit and volume ...

  • woah..yea man she did!!!!!!!!!!

    lol

  • Awesome skillz. But, she had a look of disappointment at the end.

  • maybe she was having her period or something

  • that is tight gurl,I like the way shes grooving, drop a line gurl i need some of that ,,,,,,I love the way you play....keep it up

  • Chris Adler...

  • yeah buts shes not quincy jones

  • No, she's Hillary Jones... it says so right at the top. :)

  • funny comments about technique :)

    great drumming

  • aiiiiiiiii eso es un buen ritmo bluesss eeeeeeeeee q ritmo tan bueno ps las mujeres si saben eeeeeee

  • I commend your talent and the obvious passion you have. I would, however, critique your form. Your highhats are too high, making your elbows flare out and your hands are turned outwards. Wrists Up will make a big difference in how comfortable you will look and feel. Flared elbows almost always give the impression of someone struggling and causes one to pivot unnaturally at the waist.

    Good job.

  • Dude what does it matter she is still awesome.

  • Piper 146, you HAVE GOT to be kidding me! How in the hell can you criticize this chick's playing? You couldn't even hold a candle to her in all likihood. What difference does it make how high the Hat is?

Go teach some 3 year olds.....man how childish....stupid!

  • Some of the best drummers have the worst technique, "improper" technique bothers me sometimes, but as long as the person can play, it is irrelevant.

  • yo metalhed110...you are right. I actually wish I could take back my comments. I must have been having a "moment" when I wrote them. I've played drums for over 30 years and she must have reminded me of someone I once knew. I suppose there really is no "improper" technique, as you say, so long as they can play.

  • At least you're a man and own up to absurd comments. I took a lesson from Bellson years ago & he told me he didn't care if I had the sticks up my nose and still executed it would be OK. I have many students and never have given a rats as how they set up.

    he chick grovves....period.

  • I dont care what the others say, you re right as long as considering the technique. Maybe she would feel better while playing. Great comment dude.

  • Nice to see some female talent behind the skins. Can someone please get rid of that White Stripes chick? She's giving all you girls with actual talent a bad name!

  • she is an amazing drummer!

  • but for some reason, it lacks something

  • Damn good drummer. Doesn't matter what gender, you can still own. She has good knowledge of what she is playing and doing. Don't know how this solo wasn't that good though...

  • Back in the 80's I always thought Sheila E was one of the great underrated drummers. It's nice to see more women giving men a serious run for their money these days. Jones is awesome!

  • not bad;if she played a double bass,I'd consider her good

  • Niiiiiiice!

  • impresive.... for being a girl

  • wtf does being a girl have anything to do with playing the drums

  • show this to all the dummies who say girls cant play.. she kicks ass

  • She's awesome.. I wish there was more on her..

  • She plays really well.

    Like, she's aweeeesssooomee.
