  • what is the eyes do? watching the mouse?

  • THAT,'S LIKE A DESKTOP ...

    100 % VOTE FOR KDE

HEY GOOD SONGS !! YEAH !

  • Awesome "tutorial" i did almost everything but i didnt replaced KWin because KWin is good for me.

  • Офигенно!

  • I don´t know why nobody is making the windows transparent. There´s a really cool solution of making KDE oxygen theme transparent. Look at this. Google around for "oxygen transparent"

  • @rosieres101 yes it is... I made a video about it. Check it out on my channel

  • Why cannot you have the same looking windows as all your widgets are? These look exactly like vista/win7 (more like other way around) I had this look for more than two years, and I am sick of it. Cannot you make transparents windows with header on side? exaclty like those widgets?

  • @S0RREN I know what you mean. It would be great to have all windows looking like widgets (as far as i seen, WIN8 is going towards that dirrection). i don't care who does it first, I just wanted. The thing is, as far as I know, is not possible yet.

Perhaps in future releases of KDE.

One thing that comes close to that though, is something in gnome, called Muriene Blur (I guess). makes windows transparent and blurry. I don't know much about that. It gets enabled with win2-7 from gnome-look.

  • @GhindaUcigasa Impossible? I mean: That window looks, everyone see every day is here since year 1992 or so (windows 3.11) how come that noone can draw and program widget-like transparent window look wiwth header on side? Thats not impossible, thats some kind of government conspiracy! :-P

  • @S0RREN check out my latest video. It might be just what you want :)

  • @GhindaUcigasa New kubuntu huh? You know I had clasic ubuntu with gnome for few weeks now. I fel in love with it, after long years on windows. I sure am going to try that look on virtual box. Thanks for the idea.

  • @S0RREN Virtual box most likely won't be able to provide the graphical requirements to be able to get transparency into it. Perhaps a full install on a small partition... just to be sure you get the most of it :P

  • @GhindaUcigasa Dont know yet. But dont worry, I shall take care of it, and install it somwhere appart if nesessary.

  • Nice video and I liked it!What important is missing is this:KDE has the fantastic ability for each virtual desktop to have different wallpapers AND widgets. But this is not obvious in this video. It is much more impressive when you rotate a cube that each side of it is different after all! Also this video does not show the KDE activities that also provide a different set of virtual desktops each with its own set of different kind of wallpapers and widgets.Anyway KDE is awesome!

  • @overthrowtheIMFjunta Since i used Compiz, KDE ability to have diferent activities on each desktop will only cause Compiz to break. That is all I could enable (regarding visual effects) without breaking ramdom things arround. (unless I am wrong, but i don't think so :P )

  • @GhindaUcigasa that's why I use kwin and not compiz! Kwin has advanced rapidly during the last 2 years and it is almost on par with compiz in terms of effects and eye candy. And I would not sacrifice the awesome ability to have different virtual desktops empowered by different set of wallpapers, widgets sharing different activities!I think that the programming team behind compiz should fix this and we could help reporting bugs.Salute!

  • @overthrowtheIMFjunta I agree its nice to have every desktop wallpaper different. It is another step towards customization. But it is not sufficient reason to switch from ubuntu to kubuntu for me. Althoug my system is little messed up. I am going to download/burn/reinstall it. Do you have some good reason to try something with KDE insted? (I am beginer)

  • Did you get the transparency and the blur effects working?

  • @O0rAX0O Transparency is not a compiz effect. Blur , on the other hand, is found in compiz. in order to be able to use it, you must set filter to be gaussian , radius at around 10 and in emerald you must go to Emerald settings and select Compiz decoration blur type to >Titlebar only<

  • @GhindaUcigasa The Air theme is less transparent with Compiz than it was With KWin. I fixed the blur after moving to Gallium instead of Mesa drivers.

  • @O0rAX0O I have intel chipset so maybe is a manufacturer issue. I saw no difference between kwin and compiz with air theme. I'm glad you found a way to fix things. The beauty of Linux is that... there is always a way! :)

Moved to ubuntu 10.10. Feels like a new challenge. :D Also things tend to work with less or no tweaking at all.

  • @GhindaUcigasa Yes, Gnome is simpler, I started to use KDE at work 15 days ago as a challenge, so I kind of know what you're talking about. :)

  • @O0rAX0O Since you use it at work, I advice you to use KDE 4.5.5 because is more stable than 4.6.1. I had no crashes or bugs in 4.5.5, but I upgraded to 4.6.1 just to satisfy my curiosity.

  • @GhindaUcigasa I can't, knowing that something more recent is available makes me hate what I use :P

  • @O0rAX0O I totally get you :))
