You can't hack a victory. You can only hack items which in turn give you a victory. The answer is lag. Your wii simply, "predicts" where the other racers are on the track. This is also why you sometimes don't pass a thunder cloud when you run into someone, or why a person doesn't get hit when you clearly nail them with a green shell.  In reality, they are in a different posistion than what your wii says.

you know, this could be lag. I thought i saw some weird jumps in the tracker on the right. Slow connections can do this kind of stuff. Or you have a hacker that is lazy enough to hack for points, but not lazy enough to get instant 9999.

it is lag.the player is always a few feet further ahead then what you see.

for some reason when i go online someone always chooses Luigi Circuit i mean i like luigi circuit except it's too easy i want to race on a hard course like rainbow road or something like that

murasefamily: I know what you mean. It's such a simple track that skill isn't much of a factor, and items play an even bigger role than usual.

That happened to me too! I came in first but the final ranking showed 3 other people in front of me, so i instead i ended up in fourth place .. really unfair .. these kinda people destroy the fun of playing mario kart online ..

easiest to drive but not to win. The items are placed so randomly that you can come in first just by trailing in last and using items

they probably figured out how to get the glitch people have been using on time trials online to work on races

they do a lap then turn around and go the wrong way then they quit and it still counts them as if they finished the race then

but im not sure if thats what happened

Ninsheart: The VR (vs. rating) ranks you based on how well you do online. Everyone's VR starts out at 5000. If you win a race or place high, your rating will go up. If you do poorly, your rating will go down.

Oh, so that's it! I knew about how the rating works, but I'd never seen the letters "VR" on my (European) copy of the game. Anyway, I hope this (possible hacker) incident doesn't happen again. Good luck!

That´s not a glitch. The match was lagy. In fact the other guy finished the race at first. It took a few seconds (3 or 4) after the last ranked player passed the finishing line, far too long, that´s how you can check the lag. There´s one more thing. If you press the Z button to get the item quicklier sometimes you have to wait much longer than usually. That´s cause of the lag, too.

But Warner was never even ahead of me. That's still a glitch in my book; clearly something was wrong there. But fortunately, I've only noticed this happen once.

Just as I said, there´s no glitch like this in the game. It was lag, even I had this problem on launch day in the US (I´m from germany and the lag problems began at the US launch) when the server was dieing. 5 players were close to me and we went to the finish. I heard the winning jingle, but I droped to the 4th rank.

If one guy got disconnected from the rest of the players, why should he be rewarded when he didn't have to face competition and attacks? Whether you want to call it a glitch or not, it is a FLAW in the way the game is programmed.

The other guy just laged, that´s all. At the battle mode sometimes you must shoot green shells ahead to hit lagy persons.
