I'm home all day so I have lots of time to take care of them if something happens. Any info would be very helpful. must of the vets around where i live don't really deal with birds.
@LizC1985 I used "exact" handfeeding formula , available at most large pet outlets or online , you will need a brooder and prpared to feed about every two hours around the clock.

help! I found a baby finch, adolecant I think, just outside my appartment in the hall. it had fallen from its nest and when trying to get back, must have gone down the stairwell. I've put it in a box with some water and some rice and breadcrumbs and set it under the rail the other ones sit on. They have noticed, but because the area is in an apartment building, I dont know what will happen... any advice? Im scared to leave it out because I dont want maintenance to toss it! any advice?
@Rahavin1 try to get it back in the nest without scaring the others other wise put it in a small container lined with paper towels and tack it to the wall as close to the original nest as you can get, If that doesn't work then you may consider hand feeding it , petco etc. has "exact" hand feeding formula, follow the directions on the container and good luck.

So Im gonna set him out b4 work and hope that nobody touches him and see if he gets his parents to feed him.. aspiration is usually caused by over feeding or breeder feeding the wrong tube. this is really sad, if you really want to save it a vet and antibiotics is the best bet. keep it warm

What a cutie pie! How on earth does the cat not chase the birds around? I was in shock when I seen old chubby walk by,lol. I have to put my cat in a room while I hand feed the babies n let them roam a bit in the house.
That cat's name was booger, he died of old age about 2 months ago, by far he was the mellowest cat ever, he had show no interest in birds his whole life, That said, I always kept a eye on him and was ready to jump into action but never had too, most cats can't resist the fluttering jumpy little feathered morsel of a finch, please everybody be sure your cats are put away with birds out, even a small scratch can cause a bird to die. I only included him in the video because I thought it was cute.

I use "exact" hand feeding formula. when they are very young I add "instant ounces" a fructose supplement. you start out with the mix very watery then as they grow you gradually thicken the mix by using less water. "Exact" can be found at pet co petsmart , etc. and the "instant ounces" I order on line. Thank you for the compliment on the video.

That's funny, as my sister has had a (female) red-bellied parrot for a number of years, and she also fears hands a great deal... Maybe it's common to the species?
we also have a female that is the sweetest tamest not fearful thing ever. its our male that has fear issues, but he has a great personality. I think they go through a fearful stage and if not reinforced it goes away, but if not it can develop into a neurosis
Living in the United States I don't have much of a chance to use my cz so I have forgot most of it, But one of my parrots does say "jack se mate" and every one wonders what hes is saying, lol

you can tame a young parent raised one, but it takes epic patience, and it will never be totally tame like a hand fed one.

no , if his crop is not emptying he may have crop slow down ,you have to get it moving again, try increasing the brooder temp and humidity.

Ive always loved finches, as a child, I would visit my aunt and uncle, who had a giant avery full of finches. I would watch them for hours!
I always wanted one, but was discouraged becuase they seemed much like fish to me- beautiful and lovely to watch, but not very handleable.
Now I know better, I look forward to hand-raising a finch or two, when I can locate someone who either breeds, or through a rescue centre.

I use "exact" hand feeding formula. when they are very young I add "instant ounces" a fructose supplement. you start out with the mix very watery then as they grow you gradually thicken the mix by using less water. "Exact" can be found at pet co petsmart , etc. and the "instant ounces" I order on line. Thank you for the compliment on the video.

Great vid! Great bird! We have succeeded in taming a green singing finch that was not hand fed nor hand reared, but bought at an ordinary petshop. If you're interested, have a look at the "finch playlist" on my channel (an introductory vid plus 4 "taming updates").

That's funny, as my sister has had a (female) red-bellied parrot for a number of years, and she also fears hands a great deal... Maybe it's common to the species?

we also have a female that is the sweetest tamest not fearful thing ever. its our male that has fear issues, but he has a great personality. I think they go through a fearful stage and if not reinforced it goes away, but if not it can develop into a neurosis

Living in the United States I don't have much of a chance to use my cz so I have forgot most of it, But one of my parrots does say "jack se mate" and every one wonders what hes is saying, lol
