Mr. Pai is absolutely right. I am an ex-student of KMC Manipal. Facilities Available in KMC Manipal is not available anywhere in India, and when he says that you cant pay money and pass in Manipal. its true, I know people in Manipal, some of them are rich and they cant pass, unless they work hard. There are no backdoors. And today coming out into the real world I and my fellow Manipal Doctors are proud to be a part Manipal, Family not because it has great facilities, but also what it stands for.
Ramdas Pais family took over acollege which was being run by a society called as Academy of General Education and tranformed it into their personal property . He got a medical seat because his father was the president of the Academy of General Education and probably passed because there was no coding of answer papers in those days. The Pais managed to get recognition to their institutions by hook or crook and now want to talk about "corruption". The pot calling the kettle black!
Rightly said. But we cant expect anything for many years till coalition politics ends and sincere, conscientous, honest and visionary leaders are in seats of power. But, the flip side is that power also corrupts when acquired. Priorities can change where personal interests override daily requirements of the common man. So, we can consider ourselves damned for another 100-200 years or even more as said by Dr.Ramdas Pai. Till then, we have to tolerate this nonsense and hope for the best.
Thank you for your kind replies. Dr Pai was remarkably candid in conversation. If you can, pass this around, put it on any Manipal facebook communities, or even the MCI site, or anywhere else etc, please do—and may it help increase debate, transparency and good health in great India. Jai!
I am delighted and distressed by seeing this Video. delighted because Dr Ramdas Pai has so well exposed the way the Medical Council Of India functions and how unscruplous politician decide the fate of academia and distressed that even after 60 years of independance we are known more for our corruption records than our other positive achievement. I hope People like Dr Ramdas Pai needs all kudos for this brave statements. academic community should support him on this issue
It is sad there is so much corruption and greed in the world. It seems to cause most if not all of the problems in our world today. Dr. Pai says he hopes in 100 or 200 years their democratic govt will be better. Unfortunately, look at the US- we are a fairly mature democracy and look at the corruption and greed that has caused the practical collapse of our economic system- taking with it most of the world. It is so sad. Why are people so greedy? Peace! Namaste! Dana

Excellent.
Too good for words.
We continue to console ourselves thinking Politics is the last asylum of scoundrals. Now it is criminals too !
Look at the wealth declared(in India, Swiss accounts we may never know) by the candidates for 2009 elections.
One feels petrified that not even God can save us from them.
