Good stuff. Like City of Hero's concept but without the capes, tights, ,and super powers. The Story line needs allot more help. Less time on the people story and more general "city news" needs to happen. Earthquakes, burring buildings w/firemen putting it out (maybe, if the payers let them), constantly changing political opinion, and tv's broadcasting "CONSTANTLY CHANGING" news articles. I hate hearing the same quotes again & again & again in MMO's

Its limited because the ONE AND ONLY thing you can do is to chase after criminals/enforcers and customize your looks. You are also limited to small, dull and unchanging city maps. Did you really get the feeling you could do "anything you want" when you played this game, as the dude in the video said? Because they're all for a reason, they're all part of a plot. They failed the missions. WoW has 25 man raids that are hard. This once again doesn't have jack shit. And finally, they failed in accessibility. Anyone can run WoW. The requirements are abysmally low. That doesn't mean the highest settings are ugly though.

In the case of this game and most others, they focus so much on one aspect that they forget the others. They nailed customization. Absolutely fucking got it right. But they failed combat. Anyone can point and shoot, there's no skill required, because there's no locational based damage. They needed to make it competitive, but they didn't.

Ever heard of a game called Spore? Great customization that with a bit of work allowed you to make just about anything. A little behind the curve, but it was accessible. Gameplay was meh. What happened to it? It sank like a rock. People got burned out on customization. Same thing here.

@imidimaru alright...the statement about Reach is obviously just an opinion, and has nothing to do with the argument you are attempting to make. MMO's are built around their community. WoW has a strong community (and yes while it eats away your life) you are missing the point. It at least has a story and very complex missions. It is successful, and for the vast majority of MMO players, it is the game they return to, because they find it fun.

@GAARAisthebeast I'm sorry, I didn't realize all the raids in WoW were ridiculously easy, requiring no strategy, and the moment you enter a raid, you beat it, and then you're just repeating it week after week /sarcasm. You talk about the game being repetitive and boring once you hit the level cap, but this game will be repetitive right from the get go, with your only advancements being your appearance and weapons.

@GAARAisthebeast ...and I don't know if you played WotLK, but that was a really solid update. Still, the key to that game's success is accessibility. All it takes is one guy playing it, and the next thing you know, 6 of his friends are taking their characters up along with him. I'm not saying it was end all be all, I personally gave it up, as it is a carrot on a stick along with the vast majority of MMO's, but that doesn't change the fact that it's massively successful.
@imidimaru APB on the other hand, won't have nearly as strong a community due to inaccessibility. Combined with shoddy gameplay (you are only going to be entertained by the customization for so long. What then?), it loses more. You are now dealing with an unsuccessful game with a small community, weak multiplayer, and no complex missions. It will never be the game you come back to because it will grow dull. This constitutes a bad game. There is no opinion hidden in it.
@imidimaru What I have just stated can be supplemented with a load of other MMO's, some even better built than this. Small community=game hurts=entertainment value goes down=people quit=smaller community...There are only a few MMO's that I would attribute this not happening to outside of WoW. Most namely, Guild Wars. It had no monthly fee, meaning a massive starting community, and what has saved it from the same fate as all others? The promise of Guild Wars 2.

@Tantoblade1pd In case you missed it, I already made the point that RTW are screwing themselves with the graphical exclusivity of this game. Fact is, 90% or more of people who can't run it are going to blow this game off. Very few are going to actually upgrade, and those that are on the fence when the reviews hit are going to pass on it as well. I actually gave it a shot/have been following it for over a year, and I've overcome the hype to see how awful this is gonna be.
@ptucker567 They need to raise the player cap from 100 to MAG's 256 or 128 a side, and uncap the 5 players per team limit, otherwise it'll be just a PC version of a consolised online shooter as far as team size goes.
@Puzzoozoo in chaos rule set, anyone can jump into any fight, so it can turn out to be a massacre of 50 criminals pumping lead into 2 enforcers they just happened to come by. In standard rule set it's generally 5v5 max, and i think it's stuck at 100 because of the map size, we dont exactly know how big or small they are, but they should be proportionate
Okay so Realtime Worlds have yet again pushed APB back again. Due to the length of the postponement they have also decided to Rename All points bulletin from just APB to "APB: 2020".
too bad it has no plot driving it. you'll enjoy customizing your character for a little while, and then you'll just be stuck doing the same missions over and over just to get the next best weapon. that, and you have to have a super computer just to run it decently.
@FarcryCrackfiend You're speaking nonsense, because gameplay and the wanting to unlock the next weapon is totally what makes MW2 so fun. People don't play it for the "plot driving it", they play it because it's a fun game. I can see why you're commenting on youtube and not developing games.
@GothicJump well here's the problem-CoD is built as a straight up shooter. They have maps built just around combat with a proper aiming system (not to mention that it's a fps) and location based damage(that's a huge one). all the weapons have been (mostly) perfectly balanced. Half of the weapons unlocked don't get used because a starter weapon (this goes for sniper and lmg) is better.
These are ways in which CoD is superior to to APB, and I still think MW2 is a flaming piece of shit.
@GothicJump So the shooter aspect of it sucks compared to a shooter. The cars are all floaty in all the vids so it's vastly inferior to any game with driving, and if I want to commit a crime, GTAIV has original missions that make these generic suckfest missions look boring by comparison. What does that leave me with? A really good character creator that I'm gonna get burned out on after a couple days (maybe a week or two if I'm lucky) and music software. Whoop-de-fucking-doo.

What I'm stating is blaringly obvious, even from the videos. The cars ARE floaty. The missions ARE cut and paste. There is NO locational based damage. They ARE trying to build a competitive multiplayer format around a non competitive multiplayer game, which will NOT work.

But, how long am I going to stay entertained by it, when there are no real ways to give my custom character any personality outside the confines of criminal/enforcer? Is it even worth 60+ dollars? @TheSmellyHedgehog Too much of the game follows basic bullshit MMO quest rules. Retrieve X from Y location. Kill Z number of players. There's no real time to formulate a strategy or plan a heist, or set up a personal series of checkpoints, because information is coming at you on the fly, and there are too many generalized variables to make for a mentally challenging game. This rests the entire game on the quality of combat, and without something as simple as headshots, it will SUCK.
@TheSmellyHedgehog If you think an elementary analyzation of a games blatant faults is trolling after all this, then you're just an ignorant fuck. If this game ever wants to be good, they will have to put more time into an extremely solid system of combat that rivals current 3rd person shooters (I'm talking Gears of War and Mass Effect, it's running on the same engine so why not). They need to institute a very detailed high profile heist and VIP escort system equivalent to the WoW raid.
@TheSmellyHedgehog They need to have a driving system AT LEAST equivalent to GTA IV. Those cars were difficult to drive starting out, but given practice you could pull off some amazing things with them. And finally/most importantly, they need to have the game visuals customizable to the point that you don't have to run a fucking quad core just to be able to play. Out of all my friends, I only know one that could feasibly run this game on low settings (at best) and that's just stupid.
@FarcryCrackfiend Maybe you have a really bad PC... I have a very old quadcore (Intel Q6700) and the game is running on maximum settings + 8AA 16AF ...
And if you cant' run it and want to play it, you have to buy a better PC, an AMD quadcore isn't that expensive...
Also the game is in the closed beta, the requirements will get lower by time. GTA IV was unplayable before the first patch!

Your processor alone on today's market is closing in on 300 dollars, and that doesn't even include how much people are going to spend to update their graphics cards. Do you honestly think they're going to lower the requirements that much on top of everything else they have to fix in just over a month? NO.
But, you now have to pay 9€ (or 9$, yes RTW can't convert... -.-) for one month and also have to buy the game for 49.99€/$ (again no convert -.-), so you have to spend much money for playing the game in all specs... anyways.
But I don't give a ****, because I'm getting my money, enough to p(l)ay this game, so I just play it. (no offend to someone)
@TheSmellyHedgehog This MMO is purely driven by it's community (with no npc cops or criminals) and with so few people that can actually run it, the game is going to suffer. It will never break a million players, and the current MMO cannot sustain itself with no monthly fees and those paltry numbers. APB, even if it is good by the time they release it, will never go mainstream, and all the hype will be for naught. In the end, I give it one or two years tops.

Its limited because the ONE AND ONLY thing you can do is to chase after criminals/enforcers and customize your looks. You are also limited to small, dull and unchanging city maps. Did you really get the feeling you could do "anything you want" when you played this game, as the dude in the video said? Because they're all for a reason, they're all part of a plot. They failed the missions. WoW has 25 man raids that are hard. This once again doesn't have jack shit. And finally, they failed in accessibility. Anyone can run WoW. The requirements are abysmally low. That doesn't mean the highest settings are ugly though.

In the case of this game and most others, they focus so much on one aspect that they forget the others. They nailed customization. Absolutely fucking got it right. But they failed combat. Anyone can point and shoot, there's no skill required, because there's no locational based damage. They needed to make it competitive, but they didn't.

Your average Highschool/College student (or even anyone in there early to mid twenties who is starting to completely support themselves) won't have the money to do that. Ever heard of a game called Spore? Great customization that with a bit of work allowed you to make just about anything. A little behind the curve, but it was accessible. Gameplay was meh. What happened to it? It sank like a rock. People got burned out on customization. Same thing here.

@imidimaru alright...the statement about Reach is obviously just an opinion, and has nothing to do with the argument you are attempting to make. MMO's are built around their community. WoW has a strong community (and yes while it eats away your life) you are missing the point. It at least has a story and very complex missions. It is successful, and for the vast majority of MMO players, it is the game they return to, because they find it fun.

All it takes is one guy playing it, and the next thing you know, 6 of his friends are taking their characters up along with him. What then?), it loses more. You are now dealing with an unsuccessful game with a small community, weak multiplayer, and no complex missions. Small community=game hurts=entertainment value goes down=people quit=smaller community...There are only a few MMO's that I would attribute this not happening to outside of WoW. Most namely, Guild Wars. It had no monthly fee, meaning a massive starting community, and what has saved it from the same fate as all others? The promise of Guild Wars 2.

I'm in college and sure I'm racking up a lot of debt with student loans but that hasn't stopped me from buying a new grphx card and PSU for £250 with money i earned from work. And even if the game does get a bit repetitive at the moment they will obviously add more content and patches later on.

@Tantoblade1pd In case you missed it, I already made the point that RTW are screwing themselves with the graphical exclusivity of this game. Fact is, 90% or more of people who can't run it are going to blow this game off. Very few are going to actually upgrade, and those that are on the fence when the reviews hit are going to pass on it as well. I actually gave it a shot/have been following it for over a year, and I've overcome the hype to see how awful this is gonna be.

@Puzzoozoo in chaos rule set, anyone can jump into any fight, so it can turn out to be a massacre of 50 criminals pumping lead into 2 enforcers they just happened to come by. In standard rule set it's generally 5v5 max, and i think it's stuck at 100 because of the map size, we dont exactly know how big or small they are, but they should be proportionate

@GothicJump well here's the problem-CoD is built as a straight up shooter. They have maps built just around combat with a proper aiming system (not to mention that it's a fps) and location based damage(that's a huge one). all the weapons have been (mostly) perfectly balanced. Half of the weapons unlocked don't get used because a starter weapon (this goes for sniper and lmg) is better.
These are ways in which CoD is superior to to APB, and I still think MW2 is a flaming piece of shit.

@GothicJump So the shooter aspect of it sucks compared to a shooter. The cars are all floaty in all the vids so it's vastly inferior to any game with driving, and if I want to commit a crime, GTAIV has original missions that make these generic suckfest missions look boring by comparison. What does that leave me with? A really good character creator that I'm gonna get burned out on after a couple days (maybe a week or two if I'm lucky) and music software. Whoop-de-fucking-doo.

What I'm stating is blaringly obvious, even from the videos. The cars ARE floaty. The missions ARE cut and paste. There is NO locational based damage. They ARE trying to build a competitive multiplayer format around a non competitive multiplayer game, which will NOT work.

@spraycan400 Oh, no doubt the creator is phenomenal! This is one of those times where the options truly are limitless! But, how long am I going to stay entertained by it, when there are no real ways to give my custom character any personality outside the confines of criminal/enforcer? Is it even worth 60+ dollars? I don't think so.

@TheSmellyHedgehog Too much of the game follows basic bullshit MMO quest rules. Retrieve X from Y location. Kill Z number of players. There's no real time to formulate a strategy or plan a heist, or set up a personal series of checkpoints, because information is coming at you on the fly, and there are too many generalized variables to make for a mentally challenging game. This rests the entire game on the quality of combat, and without something as simple as headshots, it will SUCK.

@TheSmellyHedgehog If you think an elementary analyzation of a games blatant faults is trolling after all this, then you're just an ignorant fuck. If this game ever wants to be good, they will have to put more time into an extremely solid system of combat that rivals current 3rd person shooters (I'm talking Gears of War and Mass Effect, it's running on the same engine so why not). They need to institute a very detailed high profile heist and VIP escort system equivalent to the WoW raid.

@TheSmellyHedgehog They need to have a driving system AT LEAST equivalent to GTA IV. Those cars were difficult to drive starting out, but given practice you could pull off some amazing things with them. And finally/most importantly, they need to have the game visuals customizable to the point that you don't have to run a fucking quad core just to be able to play. Out of all my friends, I only know one that could feasibly run this game on low settings (at best) and that's just stupid.

@FarcryCrackfiend Maybe you have a really bad PC... I have a very old quadcore (Intel Q6700) and the game is running on maximum settings + 8AA 16AF ...
And if you cant' run it and want to play it, you have to buy a better PC, an AMD quadcore isn't that expensive...
Also the game is in the closed beta, the requirements will get lower by time. GTA IV was unplayable before the first patch!

Your processor alone on today's market is closing in on 300 dollars, and that doesn't even include how much people are going to spend to update their graphics cards. Do you honestly think they're going to lower the requirements that much on top of everything else they have to fix in just over a month? NO.

But, you now have to pay 9€ (or 9$, yes RTW can't convert... -.-) for one month and also have to buy the game for 49.99€/$ (again no convert -.-), so you have to spend much money for playing the game in all specs... anyways.
But I don't give a ****, because I'm getting my money, enough to p(l)ay this game, so I just play it. (no offend to someone)

@TheSmellyHedgehog This MMO is purely driven by it's community (with no npc cops or criminals) and with so few people that can actually run it, the game is going to suffer. It will never break a million players, and the current MMO cannot sustain itself with no monthly fees and those paltry numbers. APB, even if it is good by the time they release it, will never go mainstream, and all the hype will be for naught. In the end, I give it one or two years tops.
