I think when we start mixing and matching methods here and there everywhere, we may even become more confuse and disillusioned and wouldn't know who or what to follow or rely. Our minds are not attained yet hence following single pointedly one method which suits you wld be wiser (be in Nyingma, Kagyu,or Gelug) DS harming these people maybe it is to prevent them from causing more harm to themselves and others causing the pure lineage teachings of each Dharma sect to degenerate.
