When your dog acts aggressive it's because he has appointed himself alpha in the house. When behavior like this happens you literally sit on top of the dog and hold his head down with your hands. With a dog that size you will have to use extra force. Not the neck the head. Then when he finally gives up. Which can take up to 30 minutes release and ignore him for at least an hour then try this again. I bet he will not show his teeth.

When I gave my Akita a bone or chew toy it was his and after he had his fun he'd bring it to me like hey thanks you want some? Dogs are not to be tested let alone an Akita. Man is lucky his arm wasn't turned into a chew toy. Akitas (mine 140lbs 27" at the shoulder) Was a nice social dog, but I saw him snatch a 300lb Samoan by the arm and pull him to the ground. Scary moment but he deserved it.

Having owned many Akitas over the years, what you're doing is not only stupid, but very irresponsible as well. Akita's have powerful jaws and can do a lot of damage if they bite, trust me I know. I have an Akita and trained him to DROP and to let me take food off him while his eating. Its very important, not only does it let the dog know who's boss, it would also make life a lot easier if he picked up something that could cause him harm eg chicken bones. You should maybe work on that...

Beautiful dog, I have two myself, Mishka and Kito. they are the most loyal/loving dogs I've ever had. All the Akitas I've met, mine included, are very calm with the owner but leery around strangers.
I too have an Akita. If it behaved like this towards me I'd be worried. It would mean I wasn't viewed as alpha male in the pack. Training starts with removing the dogs food as a pup. Failing to assert yourself can lead to big problems. I hope you never find out how big.

@L2design ---nothing to worry about here. ill soon upload a video of me playin with this dog and getting right in his face while i play with him. this video was hand signals. he growls when we play and never bites me. but he really is a nice dog.. he does attack on command though and people stay away from him for that alone. he is a great companion though

@SneakyTeaBag Remember, ANY greed of dog will protect whatever it had if it feels threatened in any way, even if it is feeling threatened by its owners. Dogs are very territorial, especially a dog like an American Akita, which are bred to work in pairs to take down bears. And if you tease any dog, continually waving your hand in front of their face, they will growl and possibly attack eventually. However, it is not the breed at fault. it is the owner.

It is people like you that should not have such a regal dog. Akitas have been placed on the banned breed list, through no fault of their own, because of people teasing and treating these dogs poorly, or not training and socializing them. Did you not research this breed and find that it is naturally food aggressive and must be socialized and de-sensitized around food? This video makes me sad for the dog, and angry at the owner.

The most important decision you will ever make RE: this breed is the breeder!! Badly bred dogs can have lots of problems, physically &mentally. They are an amazing breed, BUT they are also among the most challenging and rewarding of all breeds. Def not a dog for an inexperienced owner! Do your homework first, plz!

@PatSands then what? well i can tell you this it wont happen. first because he is never around children. and yes i have taken into consideration all that has been said and keep him away from children for that reason but in all honesty he is very good with children and he loves their attention. he doesnt socialize with anyone but close friends and family. and is very intolerable with strangers that are not welcome on the property.

My borther had his cain korso trained to be a gaurd dog would bark at anyone but Boy if that dog made my brother mad all my brother had to do was look at him to make him know what it did wrong and put itself in time out. Owners who cant develop a dominate but friendly relationship shouldnt own big dogs.

Beautiful dog, I have two myself, Mishka and Kito. they are the most loyal/loving dogs I've ever had. All the Akitas I've met, mine included, are very calm with the owner but leery around strangers.

I too have an Akita. If it behaved like this towards me I'd be worried. It would mean I wasn't viewed as alpha male in the pack. Training starts with removing the dogs food as a pup. Failing to assert yourself can lead to big problems. I hope you never find out how big.
