  • i love this song, but this version didn't do it for me,

i wish that annoying acoustic guitar tone would stop about halfway through and the bassline really brought out in the last half

  • @bosca999 we hope ... that you choke .... that you choke !!!!

  • 3:10 - 3:42 Best part !

  • I like the studio version better because it's heavier. They certainly know what they're doing live though.

  • "Is so much beauty in the world"

  • 底知れぬ絶望が幾層も幾層も重ね塗られてゆく、救いようのない、しかしながら荘厳な音楽...。ロミオとジュリエットの末路を想起させるのに、これほどマッチした曲もないだろう。

  • @DavelovesRealMusic You Muse fans can't even spell, so shut the fuck up!

  • @DavelovesRealMusic umm I don't think this is depressing at all, but if you want depressing, probably go with Elliot smith.

  • @DavelovesRealMusic sigur ros, is nice, My dying bride, so many depressing stuff out there, althought they arent new :S prolly from the 90s too

  • heavy

  • pack, and dressed before your father hears us

    i really love this song

  • This song has been stuck in my head for a solid week, ever since I saw this vid. I love it. So pretty, so haunting, so creepy, so bitterly hatefully angry. And I love the arp solo and the bass line.

  • now we are one in everlasting peace

  • Driving to go surf this morning with a live version of this from 97 on headphones, I could have easily driven off a cliff and died happy.

  • There are no words...

  • Absolutely incredible. Beautifully creepy, and very somber.

  • This song steals my breath from me...

  • Well that's rude of them to steal it.

  • Muse can do ethereal rock too - "Sing for Absolution".

  • Hoodoo is amazing!

  • This is as beatifull as music you can hope to make when your performing under lights that make you look like Smurfs

  • .........................

  • Where's the Bass?

  • song is extremely lacking w/o the bass

  • it's all about the guitar and thom, i would love to hear a version of him with just his guitar

  • @yellowcakeur agreed.

    Trottel.

  • und warum antwortest du auf deutsch?

  • simply amazing

  • Mafuto mwgazani tawakane m'beli fabuti! Mzangakele !

  • my personal live favourite. it kills each and every time

  • Rock and Roll the meaning:

  • thanks a lot Niki!!it's a great song...every time i hear it i'm gonna cry!!!

για σενα Κωστα, αγνωστε ακομα ποιητη των ονειρων μου!!

  • my fav part is 0:00-4:35

  • yeah that last second is awful :D

  • @blocparty4eva1 I adore that part as well

  • @blocparty4eva1

mine is from 0:00-9:10 because I listened to it twice :D

  • @blocparty4eva1 Yeahhh the last second i didnt like it either :D

  • God, I would kill to hear//see this song live.

  • It was so god at reading. The whole crowd just shut right up and it was so eery.

  • Radiohead composed this song with God!

  • @firulaicande Tom is better

  • @firulaicande i feel this way with every radiohead song

  • @firulaicande

NO! Radiohead composed it alone, Radiohead is like a "music god"!

  • This song brings back great memories. Sang with such emotion, How can you not love it?

  • this song brings me in another dimension.

  • grow up you twats and enjoy a great song, if you don't like it fuck off and listen to boyzone or something else your age group

    dont loose your nerve

    breathe keep breathing

    i cant do this alone...

  • OMFG... such a great version of this epic song... RH ftw... I cant even be bothered to read other comments... I m so lost in the song...

  • stop fucking comparing different genres. its pointless

  • you are more than welcome(.)

  • this is the best song of Radiohead !! i love this =)

  • @ Triplefunk85:

I love Muse, they're one of my fav bands, but I have to admit that Radiohead are much better!

  • and that's good for you. :) I love both. but pending on my mood... I choose one or the other. I really can't compare the two against each other. Unless one or the other changes their style of music to the other and then I'll be able to compare them... It's almost asking you to compare Rolling Stones to Aerosmith... both rock... but one is classic... other is Hair band. Muse and RH are non pop rock... Muse has taken the "rock" portion RH has taken the indie etheral side. I can't compare

  • Olamaz bu kadar güzel bir şarkı..

  • god this is such a good song, radiohead almost has a magical quality to their music.

  • It does have a magical quality to it... I normally say "haunting quality", but I think magical is a better word. It is sooo beautiful.

  • this is for me, one their best songs. But in this live the only problen I see is the volume of the bass, in studio version is amazing, great, but here I almost can not listening

  • you're watching a youtube video mate - no youtube video has good bass.

  • this song gives me chills

  • i didnt know that a music like this makes people scream of joy

  • If it's one of your favorite songs of course it will make you scream. They aren't happy by meaning of the song, but by getting the privilege to hear it live. It is a brilliant piece of art... It's like how people get really excited to see famous paintings of massacres. People always complain about sad music, but they forget that any good art form is just an expression of emotion. Most of the masterful paintings are of tragic events.

  • stuzi me skroz

  • Thom needs a shave.

  • I think Muse and Radiohead are both Genius!

  • I also love the both and think each one are the most near to the other in the style (I don't know how to say, I'm french I haven't a good english)

  • Muse is OK, but comparing them to Radiohead is just.. not right. Radiohead is already a legend

  • yeh i agree, Muse are great, but defo not on the same level as Radiohead

  • Too bad Muse is on a different level of music than Radiohead... I really can't compare the two... except for the singers sing similar

  • I hope by the different levels you had radiohead higher

  • I mean on a different level... different genre... Radiohead took the "etheral" road... and Muse is more indie rock. therefore to me I can't compare the two because they really aren't similar and therefore any comparison would be null and void.

  • the only band I love like radiohead actually, is one hiting strong here in Italy not being a million dollar production has a stuff very interesting. Search SWAVE IN THE FUTURE and u will understand what I mean ;)

  • simply awesome. no negative comment about the song, or the band...they're pretty damn awesome no questions asked. Now imagine this....Radiohead on a tour with....Muse...pretety cool eh?

  • muse aren't good enough to support radiohead

  • No one is good enough to support Tom Yorke

  • Not even Johnny Greenwood? or Ed O'Brien? or Collin Greenwod? or Phil Selway?

  • amen!

  • I just love this song and the "Ok computer" CD is excellent. A bit Pink Floydian, that's true.

    A great slow

  • it's a very great thing indeed compared to pink floyd...just like radiohead..pink floyd was different..pink floyd were the gods!

  • we scaped

  • Pink Floydian

  • awesome song... everytime i hear it i feel my skin getting like a chicken skin

  • idem...

  • Fuckin masterpiece

  • fucking amazing song.. motions and tears in me.. this is the time I wish I had a girlfriend to curl up with her and just listen to this while looking her deep in her beautiful eyes.. well knowing that I would spend the rest of my life with her...

  • I hear ya, although I could also curl up with a bloody knife. Bleeding can be sublime to.

  • yah, I stopped cutting a year ago though

  • You guys are messed up.

  • Is it Fryderyk Chopin's Prelude in E-Minor (op.28 no. 4) as a theme of this song?

  • i am so sorry for your friend m8!!!!!

  • i love this song

  • Radiohead is the Best of all time like the next Beatles

  • agreed!

  • Theres jonny greenwood u can see it cause the guitar ... just a diff haircut... omg so amazing

  • mañana!!! mañana!!!

  • who r these ppl? where J greenwood?

  • In my opinion the live version here is better than the version on OK Computer.

And that version was flawless of course. They are just amazing. The song sends chills down my spine regardless of how many times I hear it you know?

It is so vulnerable and sad yet still it retains a distant aesthetic beauty about

it like a sea and her murky shimmering blue depths. Close your eyes and listen.

God I love music. Everyone gets it and so

few arguments arise out of it. All we need is love people ...

  • what a nice gentle touch you have in your comment, friend

  • Great comment. This song reminds me of my best friend who died in a car accident in 2003. He showed me this song a few years earlier. We loved it!!! This song will always be special for that reason!!!Thanks for posting this amazing song.

  • MAN! When I read 1985 I thought it would make a good song, and I was halfway through writing one, then I randomly searched 2+2=5 and Radiohead had already made a song. Then I thought using a coin as a guitar pick would be cool and now I learn that Radiohead beat me again! Damn...

  • yea 1985 was awesome! we're always been fighting eastasia right? there's no such thing as 1984

  • Technically, Brian May of Queen beat you by about 30 years. He used (probably still uses, I don't know) a quarter for a pick most of the time.

  • wow..

  • muy buen tema para la depresion jajaja

  • AHHHHH, Still awesome, but I was looking forward to the Fuzzy bass.

  • yeah me too....

  • Best ever.

  • wow look at jonny go

  • best band today

  • LA MEJOR BANDA QUE PUEDEA EXISTIR

  • I was there!

  • Lucky.

  • Great song!!!

  • i was not!

  • rock am ring?

  • i know radiohead likes using takamine guitars, but in the original version of this song, the guitar sounds so deep, so nice. any guess what kind of acoustic guitar model they used while recording this song?

  • :( they fucked up the climax

  • They didn't fuck it up but yeah...they didn't really go all out either :(

    Playing it safe I guess.

  • very true.

    which is so un-radiohead

  • well and like the fuzz bass and choir synth was almost non-existent

  • so sad & so beautiful

  • does anyone knows for what choke speaks the song at the end;;;

  • they should choke for their acts.. (the Society..)

2 persons .. in love.. "illegal" love..

and in the end of the song..

"And now.. we are one.. in everlasting peace"

they killed themselves..and become one ..thats symbolic..like every word.. i hope you understand

like i would say: i hope you are happy now. I killed myself..

they say: We hope that you choke..

we hope you understand what youve done.. i hope you choke therefore

  • good job of analyzing, and you have to keep in mind that this song was written for the Romeo+Juliet soundtrack so the illegal love Montague/Capulet, we are one they killed themselves in love, we hope that you choke, the anger they must feel that their families drove them to this

  • -insert whatever you hate in life-... and that'll be what it stands for...

  • You are right. And it brings me to tears every time.

  • one word:

    masterpiece
