That's not true at all jesserhaywood. Some people turn it over because they can't get enough speed off of the ball normally. Johan Santana who has one of the best change-ups in baseball uses the circle-change grip and throws it just like his fastball with no turning of the wrist. And i dont care what pitch u r throwing u never wanna get behind it that would make it sail high in the strike zone if not over the catchers head u wanna get on top of the ball on every pitch regardless of wrist angle.
because you want a change up to move arm side....if you stay behind the ball on a changeup a good hitter can sit and wait on it because now its just like a slower fastball
@jesserhaywood i want my CU to spin just like a fastball..i throw a 4 seam fastball then i'll throw a 4 seam change..ALWAYS LOW ALWAYS OUTSIDE..why? because the barrel leaves the outside part of the plate FIRST..always low always outside..thats the formula for success
@cfl990 whats NOT TRUE? changes belong low and outside,,your barrel leaves the outside of the plate FIRST..its physics dont argue.LOL..keep your change up and in and let me know how you do.low and outside is ALWAYS the BEST spot.dont get me wrong you can whiff somebody at any location BUt best results low and away
@wogdoggy IM telling you it is not always true you learn this when you are young if someone says ALWAYS it is most likely not true last year we played against this kid that was picked up by the cubs and went from rookie ball to double and he was a monster and everything we threw him no matter of location was crushe until we figured you the low and iNSIDE change and he would either poll it a mile foul or whiff completly and throughout the year we found a few others that were very susceptible toit
@cfl990 of course if most batters knew what pitch you were throwing and what location it was at they would have tremendous success NO DOUBT..but think about the physics of the swing and think about what you want your change up to accomplish.you want the hitter on on his front foot COMMITED period.a players barrel passes the outside of the plate first THEN the inside ,IF you throw inside even though he is EARLY he may still be able to foul it off..if he is EARLY on the OUTSIDE the bat is gone
@wogdoggy Im not saying they know whats coming some people are just good hitters baseball is a game adjusments and sometimes the inside change is better you are trying to set up a hitter with good pitches stop basing this solely on physics thats not what it is all about im just saying it is not always the best place for just most of the time if this was a game just of physics a lot more people would be able to play at a high level
@cfl990 if you are talking pros where EVERY pitch is cgharted every hit every swing then yes you may have data that exposes individual hitters tendencies BUT in general MY physics still hold water..IN GENERAL leaving your change up inside will get you in more trouble ESPECIALLY if its UP in the zone than OUTSIDE changes
@wogdoggy OK im glad that you have finally admitted that i was right in my original statement which was its not always the best and i never said anything about high changes because you should never throw it high although you may get away with it sometimes its a bad idea
@cfl990 I teach always low and outside,,if im comming inside its going to be a curve screwball or heat..more than likeyl a curve..i'll continue to throw all changes low and outside for best success.. UNLESS dave duncan with a pitching chart tells me otherwise.
@cfl990 actually the game is very much proper technique through physics..without the proper technique you dont get very far..if you want to continue to deny the barrel leaves the outside of the plate first then why bother? if the barel is gone and your out in front it is PHYSICS cally imposssible to hit the ball.
@wogdoggy ANother thing is even if you have them out in front on the low outside but they stay back just long enough even if fooled and they throw the end of the bat on the ball it can go a long way because with your physics that part of the bat will be moving the fastest thus creating more power if you make conact
@wogdoggy CONT it all depends on the persons swing and approach some people will be able to sit on the outsie one all day and drive it to right or center or lay off it if its low or too outside im just saying its NOT ALWAYS the best spot for it however in most cases and situations it is
