  • Sounds like my ex-boyfriend. . .

  • i love this song! bluesy, passionate And Leon!

  • Check out Delta Lady, Song for you, Masquerade, Tightrope, Straight Brother, Balad for a solder, Jumping Jack Flask from live for Bangladesh at Madison Gardens. Leon is a genius and Leon is a Master. I think Elton may be the greatest musicin and singers of our time period. Name one better.

  • check out Lady Blue. Awesome , I fell in love with his voice and style then. Still awesome Leon.

  • Whoever dislikes Leon...but is here to listen to his music is most definitely socially retarded... So maybe you should've sent roses..

  • @dolittle1949 Perfectly said! You tell 'em!

  • @judecreek2 We're soul sisters, jude. Keep the faith. Long live the master!

  • the use of auto tune is a bit of a pity...

  • @nigusberries mate are you thick?

  • a off topic question, but does anybody know the name of the song that is sampled twice right at the beginning of this video! thanks :)

  • @extremedrumz "I Can't Steer My Heart Clear of You" from "The Big Picture."

  • @johnwinfield367676 Kinda curious as to why your here listening to somebody you don't like...?

  • I don't like Leon Russell

  • @johnwinfield367676 there are tens of thousands of videos available on Youtube. I'm sure you'll find something you like. So go there and stay there.

  • @judecreek2 Don't tell me what to do. I'm entitled to my opinion so fuck you!

  • @johnwinfield367676 Right back at ya, moron.

  • I am so grateful to Elton John for making this cd with my musical hero Leon Russell, who I have loved ever since I was a little girl.

  • Long Live Leon!

  • Sublime...vibrations, emotions,

  • Class

  • men you need to listen to this and take note!!!

  • Been in love with Leon for over 40 years.....

  • @tdebtom1 I wonder if Leon knows how many of us have been in love with him all these years?

  • @judecreek2

I agree, My sister and I have listened and liked him forever. Do you remember Dave Mason?

  • @alltraveler Oh yeah I remember Dave Mason! He's one of my favorites. I've always loved "Feelin' Alright." Joe Cocker did a great cover of ir for Mad Dogs and Englishmen.

  • I love it, two masters, One piece of the world's best musicians.

  • A masterful work from two masters.

  • To bad some people have to be so upset over an opinion. Truly it was only that. It took a man of Elton's true ability to bring Leon back to the forefront, and he would have never been out of that position if he had the staying power of a talent like Elton John. Just an opinion, no need to get all upset. Not like I am attacking the Gospel.

  • @MrFBCBSALES Well, my opinion is that if Elton was so terribly concerned about Leon, why did he wait 40 years? Not that I'm complaining or criticizing Sir Elton-he deserves praise. As far as staying power goes, Leon has it, it's just that Elton was much better at playing the "game of business". Leon did things his way, pissing people off in the industry, not doing himself any favors, but living his life as he wanted, seeing his music as a gift to be enjoyed. Elton saw the business side, too.

  • @judecreek2 I have ordered in no particular order...lol..."Leon Russell".."Will O the Wisp"."Carney"..Shelter People"..Signature Songs..Oh BTW,I love Leon in concert for Bangladesh..can't get enough of jumpin Jack and Youngblood..I do love somewhere over the rainbow...I just love everything he does..and of course..Tightrope..Back to the Island...Masquerade..need I go on...The King Leon..master of space and my..time..

  • Comment removed

  • @judecreek2 If Leon was so great on his own why did he need another muscian to bring him to the forefront?

  • @MrFBCBSALES "CRICKETS"....

  • @MrFBCBSALES He didn't. Leon's been plagued with ill health for years. Yet still managed to tour and record. Look, I'm not gonna waste your time or mine by trying to convince of the greatness that is The Master of Space and Time. I'm not in the arguing mood. I'm just thrilled that Leon is back on top where he belongs, and I don't care how he got there.

  • @MrFBCBSALES beacuse the music industry just sucks. and his era footage is just not great eyecandy for today's HD standard... he's so great people dont even know they probably sang a Leo tune on the radio today; a tune they have loved all their life. serious about the industry... just a few companies for hundreds of amazing artists and decades of hits... crazy.

  • I so love this song and the WHOLE CD!!!!

  • this cd sucks..forgettable...it is already number 93 and will be off the charts shortly...

the sales figures are terrible considering all the hype...

.if you listen to elton cd's from the last 15 years you would think you hear the same songs over and over...he rewites songs over and over...he's run out of ideas

when i hear shit like this it makes me wonder..did he really write those great songs in the 70's?

and leon russell looks like a real limp noodle with one foot in the grave...RIP

  • @ChiroQuacker :matter of taste,isn't it?

I,for one,I'm positivitely surprised with this collaboration..Elton and Leon's voices are just great on this record, even the songwritership is great..It's about the feel, not about how difficult or different this music is..Back to their roots, and why not?

  • @ChiroQuacker If you have a problem with with the CD..Why not slip into something more comfortable like a Fking "COMA"..Your ignorant and your Iq test just came back and yes it was negative...

King Leon Master of space and time cause I said so...

  • @schwibert

you are in denial....if i played this cd to leon and elton in 1974 and said to them this is your future..they would have gotten sick...

this cd is garbage...what passes for excellence today would not have been passed of for mediocre back in the day....

anyone who thinks this cd has great songwriting needs to delve into the work of nat cole and sinatra and hear the great master songwriters work....

hey elton...learn a few new chord progressions..puhlease ya fat bastard

  • @judecreek2 I accidently ordered Leon Russell,I already have it,so I will order Leon Live..That Jumpin Jack flash and youngblood is great!!! But you know that..

  • @ChiroQuacker Sinatra as a songwriter? Puhlease...the man could sing the phone book and sound terrific, but he didn't write a single note or word.

  • @judecreek2

uhh bonehead...the songwriters who composed the songs sinatra sang..cahn and van heusen, jule styne, rogers and hammerstein, cole porter, gershwin brothers, etc....

  • @schwibert You tell 'em...I wonder if he informed his doctor that he went off his medication?

  • @judecreek2 That dudes comments to me are as useless as a kick stand for a horse...You and I know Leon is the MAN...some folks make stupid people look smart..lol..have a Merry Christmas..Oh BTW,I just ordered 5 of Leons CD's from amazon..Can't wait..I ordered Carney, signature songs, shelter people, and the other can't recall right now..maybe I am having a senior moment..Not..Long live our Main Man....

  • @schwibert Oh, you are gonna have a blast going thru those CD's! So many great songs that never got released as singles. I had a laugh at Christmas because I guess I talk about Leon just a little cuz I got 3 copies of "The Union" as gifts from 3 different people and didn't have the heart to tell anyone that I already had it. I'm gonna trade 3 "Unions" for one "Leon Live". The one where "Jumping Jack Flash/Youngblood" took up one whole side of an album.

  • @ChiroQuacker I am sure the chicks are standing in line for a piece of you!!!!Leon on the hand still would have no problems comming to attention...I hope you get a piece for Christmas..

  • @schwibert

leon looks like the last thing he can do is get a boner...the guys a friggin mess...one foot in the grave..he's in real bad shape ..big and fat and walking with a cane....yeah right...i bet you'd like that old relic's fat body on top of you...

  • @ChiroQuacker Why in a public forum does someone have to sound like a sick pig like you do? Some day you will be old also and I bet you will not accomplish what this man has on an album as outstanding as this one. You really need to improve your communication skills greatly, but then you are a symptom of what is wrong with so many people, not real care or concern about anyone.

  • @schwibert And you know what you are just as bad as @schwibert. Who cares about wether Leon is sexual or not as his age. This is about the beauty of music, not the filth of a sick mind like yours that has to spread your ugliness in a public forum.

  • @MrFBCBSALES I care about everything Leon does....You seem to be a prude...Don't waste my time..Are you picking up what I am putting down...If you don't like how I roll, just drive thru to the next window..

  • @schwibert As far as that ChiroQuacker moron is concerned, he's just an annoying little idiot who seems to be obsessed with sex, probably because the only date he's had all year has been with his hand. Like a snotty little brat having a temper tantrum, if we ignore him, he'll hopefully go away and stay there.

  • @judecreek2 Oh yeah, negativity sucks when it comes to "OUR BOY" LOL To funny 3 more Union CDs now that's funny...Yeah can't wait to get th4e CDs..my daughter is so sick of me talking about Leon and on my PC I have his pictured plastered from the 1971 and friend jam...Oh well she thinks I am lost in the 60's...I think we both have OCD with Leon...but who cares what others think...I won't even erase Ekton and Leon when they were on GMA..FUSE...Kelly and Regis..Leon has been my only Obsession .lol

  • two of my very favorites. thanks to elton john for not forgetting leon russell.

  • Why are there no pictures of Leon Russell? I only watched it to see Leon.

  • Beautiful! Leon you are wonderful!

  • I can't tell you how thrilled I am with this collaboration. Before Carla, Mary or Janet was my sister - back in the late 60s. Leon lived about a mile away from us, in Tulsa - had a recording studio and sis got in trouble for leaving school and attending his writing/jam sessions with J.J. Cale in the studio.

I grew up with his music and his antics. I'll not go in to many details except his original idea of getting rid of wasps w/a torch wasn't 1 of his best ideas. Liked his purple Bentley...

  • @Wagonmaster74 Ran out of room!

Anyhow, rock on, Leon and Sir Elton!! Smooth as ever.

  • @Wagonmaster74

so you and your sisters were spreading like butter for the boys huh?

fucking slags...all whores..your parents should have whipped your ass for fucking rockers twice your age...

little sluts...disgraceful thats your big claim to fame..being a receptical for the local rock star

  • @ChiroQuacker Just out of curiousity.....why are you such a miserable excuse for a human? You whine, complain, insult, criticize are genuinely a pain in the ass. And yet you keep coming back to the same videos. Why don't you just go far, far away and wait until you're invited back. That way we'll never hear from you again.

  • @judecreek2

    THIS CD HAS NOT:

1-earned even gold status..500,000 units sold (pitiful)

2- it is fading fast already down to 93 on the Billboard charts

3- the songs are awful, forgettable

4- these songs never would have been good enough to make it onto eltons best albums

5- elton has run out of ideas...he should listen to rogers and hammerstein..go back and study the masters...cause this three chord drivel without original melody is GARBAGE...

6- elton is very fat and needs to lose weight

  • My favorite from the album.

  • Rolling Stone have picked The Union as 3rd best album of the year. Only 2 places out.

  • Have U ever seen Brighter Stars on Knights like these? Gratitude for the Gifts U brought to earth...from an old friend w much Love...

  • 85,148 Dec.7 2010

  • I love Russell's voice in this piece. It sounds so textured and weathered, refined with age. especially in the line "I didn't know how to love you"

  • Bernie writes the greatest songs!!

  • There concert was awesome!!

  • I have this cd. Its delicious. I've played the shit out of it. Love, love, love it.

  • Real Music

    nothing else

    to say

  • Now I know that Hell has indeed frozen over - in a million billion years I never would have guessed these guys would (could) be in the same room let alone recording together. Leon always the consummate professional. He hasn't changed.

  • ONE HOT SONG! TENDER! EMOTIONAL! LOVING! BEGGING

  • These great musicians make an unlikely collaborative.

  • @BigHornCanyon May seem an unlikely combination but as double acts go as far as i'm concerned, this is heavenly. For Leon Russell to come round from surgery to do so well is a miracle within a miracle. No wonder Elton sounds so excited in his album notes (and eslewhere) on how it was fated to happen

  • Damn they are badasses.

  • absolutely love this album, though i have also pretty much loved everything Elton has ever done. Leon is magnificent, can't believe i had never heard him before, great songwriter and an amazing singer.

  • @damianrwhite Welcome to the world of Leon! Do yourself a favor and look up his videos from the 70's and 80's. You will not be disappointed, but you will become a fan.

  • @judecreek2 Oh the CD's came ..of course they're already on my I Pod...I didn't order a duplicate of what I already had..so that was cool..still plaing them to death..Have a great new year..maybe we'll get to see the Man..

  • @judecreek2 Oh the CD's came ..of course they're already on my I Pod...I didn't order a duplicate of what I already had..so that was cool..still playing them to death...Have a great new year..Maybe we will get to see the Master of space and time...5 NEW CD's that rocks!!!

  • @schwibert I knew you'd have fun with them. When we get the "best of" CD's, there are a lot of almost forgotten gems on the original CD's that we get to re-discover, leading to multiple eargasms!

  • @judecreek2 I was gonna say in my last post about how orgasm.ic...... they are but ya know how some people freak .You're right some songs,I don't recall but he doesn't disappoint...Queen of the roller derby is on now..CHOW.I have fell back in love with My CRICKET....

  • I think, hands down, this is his best album yet. I think if this was his last one, it would be such a great stopping point. Such wonderful writing. God bless elton and long live for many years to come.

  • @eltonjohnish I adore the album too, it just keeps growing, and i keep asking myself, is it really up there with Capt Fantastic, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Tumbleweed Connection? And each time i hear it the more convinced i am, resoundingly, yes! Great credit to Leon- this is after all an Elton and Leon album- his overall contribution is great, adds a wonderful earthiness to Elton's enthusiasm and ballads. This track is marvellous, i never tire of it.

  • Love, love, love this song. Love, love, love you, Leon. Awesome collaboration. Thank you Elton John!

  • I have seen Leon so many times and each time... even as he is getting older... he still will do something that will just blow you away... now this... YES LEON... YOU ARE STILL THE MAN

  • Elton's best debut for an album since 1976!!! He's still standing!

  • The great album is #3 in the US

  • johnwinfield367676 God, I just love ignorant comments by the uninformed. Just a quick synopsis. The Elton John ( and a lot of the songs /hits he wrote) that you supposedly "know" and "love" would not exist without Leon Russell as Elton himself has stated time and time again. Quick correction. To be fair, Elton would have existed and probably would have played piano and sang/wrote songs but he sure would have sounded a hell of lot different as would his songs.

  • Dear Leon. Thank you for this song. You've endured the ages and offered up your best. And Elton, thanks for uplifting your friend and giving him a spotlight where others have failed to do so of late.

  • @johnwinfield367676 Oh, you poor, poor lost empty soul. My sympathies.

  • @johnwinfield367676 Well, i'm delighted with this superb collaboration which has given both a new lease of life and will surely help Elton's career too. It's had raves off lots of critics and helping restore his reputation for making proper albums, important in the long run.

  • @johnwinfield367676 Sweetheart...you have not lived.

  • @johnwinfield367676 You thick dullard!

  • Leon your wrote so many songs on this CD..you're the one talented Guy..Elton you are right he is many peoples idol..not only yours..Keep going stron..stay well..

  • Am going to see Elton for the first time here in south texas(mcallen). I cannot believe this legend is coming to our backwater area. Oh well, I just hope he realizes how much people appreciate him. And leon, well, wow, I hope he opens for him down here also. Another legend. True musicians, not like most of todays music.

  • I've read 32 reviews of the album and they're overwhelmingly positive- only 5 negative. Many are gushing: "special", "a triumph", "landmark", "best album of the year", *terrific", "Elton's best since GYBR", "wondrous", "wonderful", truly great", "a great credit to both", "happy reunion indeed"...

  • @mizofan That sums up my feelings, too. However, I would have added a little "I told you so" to all the people that thought Leon was done. The Master of Space and Time is BACK in a BIG BIG WAY!

  • wow 4 people missed the like button

  • Thanks for bringing Leon back where he belongs

  • Just picked up the Union..CD..extended version at target 2 CD"s ...only one left so their must be others that have been waiting it's sensational....Oct.20th they will sing live on good morning america..then thursday on the view..Will try to stomach that Joy Behart if possible...She is the one that needs to walk away far, far, away...:Proud of you Leon...your rock..

  • @schwibert I've got mine, too. Thanks for mentioning the TV appearances...I didn't know about them-just set my DVR.

  • Is that Elvis Costello @ .32 and 1.20?

  • @1caninelover of coure it's Elvis

  • I remember Elton opening for Joe Cocker and his Mad Dogs and Englishman with Leon....Leon and Elton played grand pianos together that night.

  • Why is it that the narcissistic craftsman thinks he/she has something to say until the end? Can we not remember them for when they really did. This is just middle of the road, dull and uninspiring to me. Even Rogers & Hart and other greats knew when they're time was up.

  • @Picardy For many artists to stop creating, they might as well not exist. The Portuguese film director Manoel de Oliveira is almost 102 and still going strong. Anyway, i love this album and it'll bring pleasure to millions. And it was also based on Elton's wanting to help Leon, a pretty good motive i think.

  • @Picardy yes he really should have thought about what you might think of his work before releasing it.

  • What a great song and the fact that Elton still touches my heart and soul with his voice after 40 years.........gives me chills!

  • I really needed this great news right now. Two musicians I love creating new music. Thanks to David Furnish for giving birth to the idea.

  • Awesome! I love it!

  • I've listened to all the samples available and I cannot wait to get the album! They really are the perfect mix----a pinch of Elton and a dash of Leon. That's the recipe for a perfect "Union."

  • @judecreek2 if you google npr you can hear the CD in full..It's gonna sell like hot cakes maybe Leon will get the recognition he deserves ...

  • @schwibert After reading your advice, I did google it and the album is fantastic! Thanks! I had heard all the samples, and there isn't one song I don't like. It surprises me when people say that Leon has been "forgotten" and "flying under the radar" because his music has always been a part of my life. I join you in hoping finally the rest of the world learns what we LeonLifers already know-The Master of Space and Time is back and better than ever!

  • @judecreek2 if you google npr...you cn listen to the new CD full version..

  • These two together is a dream that makes my heart soooo happy it might just explode!!!!

  • Elton doesn't write songs

  • @dipper888bp Like Verdi, Puccini and Mozart didn't write opera

  • @mizofan They didn'y "write" opera, they composed opera...Elton composes songs but doesn't write lyrics....

  • @dipper888bp Yes, ok, i was checking what you meant cos often these terms are misunderstood

  • @mizofan cool....

  • Comment removed

  • to hear CD in full google npr then look down will say leon and elton cd in full..it's wonderful!!!

  • Congrats Elton and Leon: the album gets 5 stars in Rolling Stone.

  • Comment removed

  • Super!!!

  • Wow...this made me shed a tear. It's classic Leon and Elton. Amazing!

  • The Master of both Time and Space and EJ. Love it.

  • @dmdou812 Been a fan of EJ since I was 12 y/o in 1973 & he's still great. Liked a lot of other singers but no one shared this lasting talent!

  • Should have sent roses and Gone to Shiloh are the two best song i have heard from this album.

  • @2BeHonestNow My exact same two fave songs!!!! *;*

  • @BarbButler That was before the Album was release, and i had heard just 4 songs from the album. Today my favorit songs are: Gone to shiloh, When love is dying, There is no tomorrow and Mandalay again.

  • The album is a musical marriage made in heaven

  • my god , i'm a big EJ fan since 1978 and it's amazing to hear what he can write after almost 40 years of career

this album is going to be a TOP and i hope it will raise in the charts all over the world

thanks again sir elton and long live to you and to your music

Leon russell is just excellent too

    long live EJ

  • Great collaboration, T-Bones Production is always stellar..Well EJ and Leon, those guys are just legends.,..Thanks for the post!!

  • What a fantastic song. I am so glad to hear this song. I can't wait much longer to hear the other songs from the new album. So glad Leon & Elton are releasing this historic album.

  • Thanks For Posting This

  • Oh, this is so beautiful!!! This may be the most beautiful night of my life, musically. I only hope I can make it through without bawling my eyes out. Wow, wow, wow!!!

  • if not for bad --is pretty bad--the 2 does not gel

  • My Gosh, I can not wait to get my hands on this cd. Ive loved Leon Russell all my life. His voice is in great form. Ive never purchased Eltons music before but Im becoming a fan fast

  • Comment removed

  • Leon Russell, the greatest piano player and guitarist..Joe Cocker and Leon should reunite...Back to woodstock, the greatest ...Leon had brain surgery in Jan,2010 still sounds great.

  • Leon Russell, the greatest piano player and guitarist..Joe Cocker and Leon should reunite...Back to woodstock, the greatest ...

  • Great to see,I love em both.

  • I love IT! I listein this song everyday about 20 times !!!! :D

  • There are too many great cameos in this "video" to list. Something about seeing Elton and Wilco makes me wanna play some dang music though.

  • Leon has THE coolest voice!

  • I don't really like Russell's voice but the song is really nice. I'm always afraid if I'm gonna like new songs but I like this one. As the song goes on, you like it more and more. The melody is perfect to listen to now, while the autumn is about to start:) Good job!

  • This is a really good song with fantastic performances from the two legends

  • I think it's really cool how purely Elton John fans and purely Leon Russell fans are coming together and listening to this musical collaboration of theirs. I'm ashamed to admit I'm not too familiar with Leon Russell's music, but this song just sounds so amazing with his voice (and Elton's in the background). "The Union" is definitely going to be turning me into a Leon Russell fan. I suppose it's not only a "union" of these two great musicians, but also a union of their fans.

  • @bobdole9696 Leon's videos on youtube go all the way back to 1964, but if you're just starting out as a Leon fan, try Mad Dogs and Englishmen. Google Joe Cocker "Cry Me A River" and just follow the video goodness. Then try Leon Russell "Tightrope" and just have a blast! Be prepared to become a Leon fan.

  • An amazing duet by two of my favorites. I'm thrilled that Leon is back where he belongs-----at his piano in a recording studio.

  • @judecreek2 Nice to see your comment. But Leon has been recording all these years. And performing all these years too.

So glad for the cd though. People who haven't seen him will know he's been there and is alive and well.

    Peace

  • @TheSusiyp I know. I've been a LeonLifer since 1970. I've followed him from his Asylum Choir days, through the Shelter People, Mad Dogs and Englishmen, Bangladesh, his Hank Wilson days, country, gospel, blues, his collaborations with Willie Nelson and JJ Cale, even his mercifully short flirtation with bluegrass. I've seen him in large arenas and small venues and have enjoyed each show. I'm looking forward to this tour with Sir Elton!

  • Leon Russel wrote this!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Monkberry Thanks for setting the record straight!! Leon Russell did write this

    beautiful song!!! *;*

  • The song "If Not for Bad" is even better!

Looking forward to this like no Elton album in at least a decade. Love Elton bluesy and rootsy.
