You are absolutely correct., this move does work the back too, but the biomechanics and AROM inviolved are primarily putting a stretch / contraction on the hamstrings, thus glutes (with the added gluteus "squeeze" for max results). Thank you for highlighting the back involvement!

I have found this to be best with the toes pointed outward. When he says weight is not important, he is right. Keep it very slow and squeeze.

oh and you can work your hamstrings a lot more if you elevate the balls of your feet on somthing, say some extra weights laying around
