you never picked up the white plastic chairs though--- they were still there and almost all melted away :/ we were there for 5 hours and didn't find any pieces even 1/4 of the size of a grain of rice! Couldn't even fill a tiny drop bottle 1/4 way full! Addictive though, very addictive and frustrating.
Finally went back here last week and the site is still open to collecting as far as I can tell. Now I just have to polish up my finds and check them out under a microscope.
Is there any way to know if this site is open to collecting before driving there? Or does anyone know a way to contact the owner? I've been here once before and want to go back.
Then again, you never know when a location opens up again. Sayreville is a pretty place, so check it out. At the very least, you'll have a nice day out at this beautiful old New Jersey town!
Love this video! My daughter is a fledgling rockhound and I really have no idea how to get her started, so your videos are so very helpful. Thanks so much for posting.

Most of the area you are in is Private property..and is restricted by the owner. So be careful.

Several people have informed me that is still open to collecting as of March 15th 2008. Check it out and let me know in the comments of the video.

Thanks for the info. It might be a month or two before I go back, but I'll let you know how it goes.

Call me old fashioned, but when I see grave sized holes in the ground in some field in New Jersey... I get nervous.

As a Maryland native, I wasn't thinking in that direction at the time! =)

If you love amber as I do you'll really appreciate this video. The stagnant pool of rusty water had me worried.

looks like a good idea if you have a hyperactive child and want him to stay busy. for me it looks like back pain and hard labor.
