(They start to differ on The New Testaments.) Just like Buddhism and Jainism originated from Hinduism. There would be no Buddhists without Hinduism. Hinduism/Buddhism/Jainism are very different from the Abrahamic religions in the way they are practiced. And even different from each other.

Sorry, but your history is off. Islam expanded from what is now Saudi Arabia by conquest. Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, etc. had all been parts of the the Roman Empire and/or its successor, the Byzantine Empire - both Christian. The Crusades were launched to take back what had been Christian-controlled territory which had been conquered by Islam.

I can honestly say that as a Catholic I can walk among Jews, Budhists, and Hindus without fear of recriminations; however, even in Canada I get mistreated by muslims, who often display an air of arrogance & haughty disregard toward me. I notice the same distasteful attitudes towards other non-muslims in Toronto, yet they don't exhibit this behaviour towards their fellow muslims.
In my personal experience, islam has shown itself to be a cult of hatred against all things non-muslim.

I agree with you on fatwas. They are not Islamic. One fatwa can contradict another. Threatening to kill people for criticizing Islam is wrong. Muslims should argue peacefully against the criticisms.
Interestingly enough, the Pope did not afford any time during his SIX DAY visit to meet privately with any Muslim leaders in America.

Judiasm, Christianity and Islam all come from the same tree. Unfortunately, religion is controlled by humans and in history, different religions have been distorted by different to justify evil. Be it wars, genocide, slavery, "manifest destiny," mistreatment of women, banishing of this group or that group of people to eternal hellfire, etc, etc, etc, people anywhere at any time have been justifying their hatred, killing, feelings of superiority, etc, on distorted readings of religious texts.

This is very moot, Jackie, especially if some German and Italian politicians could have their way. To which end they are promoting Islamic studies in German state schools. But in comparison to his contemporary Islamic counterparts, it is accurate enough. The influence of the Pope on society and politics for the Irish in the Irish Republic of the 1950s was not trivial.
