If we all be leaping forward. Chairman Moa said. We'll all be leaping together and leaping forward was to make steel in your backyard furnace. We'll all be making steel but what they were making wasn't worth buying into for themselves. They were not making their farm implements as good as their American made implements and now we'll all do it one more time. That will everything all right.
The majority of Anmericans are the ones who are paying the taxes here. The people who make more than 250,000 a year should pay a little more in taxes and Mccain wants to give them another tax cut.
But the rich already pay all of the taxes. According to the IRS, the top 1% of wage earners paid 40% of the federal tax burden (while earning only 22% of the country's income), the top 5% paid 60%, the top 25% paid 86%, and the top 50% paid 97%. How much more of the tax burden do you want the rich to carry?
I'm not going to listen to anything Obama says. He is inexperienced and unqualified in every aspect. He was a U.S. Senator for less that a year before striking out to be President. Give me a break!!!
Wake up, this is not a class lecture, academia,or debate about the polemics of words. People who experience significant financial/cost of living hardships as a result of these economic/fiscal disasters, dont CARE ABOUT DEFINITIONS. Words mean no more than the realities that people experience daily. The notion that you can define reality with words alone is non-sense. Is my house on fire, engulfed in flames, or being consumed by oxygen with tremendous heat?
"The notion that you can define reality with words is non-sense."
For a guy who calls himself seeker4truth, that is a very interesting thing to say.
I don't think what Gramm said was a smart thing to say politically. But it's the truth. Using your standards for words and their meaning, we are always in a depression because "the poor will always be with you."
Ok, so let's try the reverse of what your saying. When can we say we're not in a recession?
If throwing gasoline on a fire sounds good to you than you will LOVE obama's expensive domestic agenda $660 Billion dollars in NEW taxes. Yep that's what his socialist domestic policy will be like - like throwing gasoline on a fire. With this economy we have now the last thing we need is oh-freaking-bama.
I WILL love that, because since I make less than 3 million dollars a year, I will not be paying for that. In fact, I will be paying less under Obama than McCain, or Bush right now.
See, 80% of America will be paying less taxes under Obama.
But the Corporate CEO's are going to be paying us back for giving us tiny paychecks in the form of taxes. They will still be way more wealthy than us....don't worry about them.
So you basically don't care if other Americans are getting screwed so long as you suckle at the nipple of American pork?
If you think you'll pay less under Obama, you're nuts. Don't you buy gas? He wants to raise taxes on it (adding to the price of everything too). He wants all kinds of new taxes on business that will be added to the price of consumer goods.
Someday, don't YOU want to earn enough money to be considered rich? When you get there do you think the government should loot half of everything you produce? Or do you just want to make sure that nobody else can live the American Dream?
You choose where you work. Don't like it? Then become better trained for the job you want. This is America, the home of rugged rugged individualism; you can do what you want.
Ever own a contracting company? What kind of clients do you want? poor or rich? When the rich get half of their earnings confiscated by tax the first ones hurt are the contractors. The carpenters, electricians, landscapers.
Hello zndprophet. It's clear to me that you embrace class warfare and socialism - your words "But Corporate CEO's are going to be paying us back for giving us tiny paychecks in the form of taxes".
You cannot convince a person at the gas station, fearful of a job layoff, attempting to get a car loan, or at the grocery store check out counter that his or her sense that we are in a recession is "mental." People don't give a dam about a technical definition of an economic recession. They can't take a print-out of the "legal" definition and make purchases. Folks with common sense would never vote for a candidate who seeks economic advice from a "Dr. Phil wanna-be."
We are by definition not in a recession unless our GDP is not growing. It is.
People lose jobs, have trouble paying bills, etc in good economies too. I don't doubt that to those people, they think it's a depression. That is common sense but I won't vote for a guy who lies and says it's a recession.
We may still be headed for a recession. There are some bad signs. But technically we are not in a recession. Do words mean anything we want them to mean when we're making a political point?
Those who watched Wolf on CNN (Late Edition) this morning saw the Republicans stumbling and attempting to'water down'Gramms stupid remark that we are in a "mental recession." What made matters worse is that the Republican spokeswoman could not counter the fact that Obama's plan grants the middle class more tax relief than McCain's ambiguous plan. Three chief economists on the GPS program stated clearly that we are in a recession. Who is lying to the American people and trying to hoodwink them?
Each of the "three economists" Fareed had on his show weren't economists. 2 were pols. ANd they were redifining what a recession is. Yes, some people are hurting but those stats are figured into the numbers which proves we're not in a recession yet. The economy is still growing at about 2%. So if we're not in a recession and yet people still say we are, isn't that a mental recession?
A mental recession with a hell of a basis in reality though.
So it's not a recession...it's something that is not good for our wallets....that's what it is...something bad for our finances that doesnt always happen, and is happening pretty severely right now...maybe people should just say that.
To say it's "mental" implies it is just an illusion....like a recession we created in our minds that isnt really there.
Go to the gas station or the gorcery store...oh-it's there alright
Ok, now that you see that it is a mental recession and not a real one, let me point out that even though Gramm was right, it was a stupid thing to say. But I liked what you had to say in one your other posts when you said, "Well what are you gonna do about it?" (you needlessly dropped the Fbomb for some reason.)
It's a good question you've asked. What do you suggest? Here's what we've got:
Although the economy is still growing and near record low unemployment, record low interest rates, a weak dollar, half a million displaced by foreclosure, lots of unskilled union workers who lost their job to cheap foreign labor, a double digit trillion dollar debt, (but shrinking deficits) and $4.37 gas. What do you suggest?
All tied up now... ! The MAC is BACK !! Americans know that John McCain has crossed the aisle many times to unite the country. Obama has never done such ! MAC is BACK !!!!
VRWCnetwork how can you say Grahm was right that America is a nation of whiners. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, gas prices are hurting people and they have every right to voice there opinion. By the way Sen. Obama willr raise taxes on people who make only more than 250,000 a year and that is a fact.
We're not in a recession. Even though some wish we were. Words mean things. -Specific things. It takes reason, not emotion to accurately evaluate a recession, a depression, inflation or stagflation. Each has their own specific definition. By definition, we're not in a recession. -No matter how emotional Obama wants to be when declaring a depression.
Graham was right. People who are hit hardest by this slowdown ARE whining that this economy is in a depression. People ARE whining for more government handouts. Entitlements are 53% of government spending.
Oh no, we're not in a recession. Barock Hussein Obama wants a recession; John Mccstain wants terrorist attacks. Banks don't collapse all the time. It is not normal for the stock market to spiral downward. We haven't had the quarter of negative growth that cattle call the tell tale sign. Just let the band play on while the ship is sinking.
Johnnie Mack wants terrorist attacks? -That's ridiculous. Why did he so forcefully push for the surge which reduced the number of terrorist attacks by 85%?
The left loves to trot out each attack as a reason to surrender. They don't seem to make a very big deal out of the fact that we've not been hit at home for 7 years!
It amazes me that people are so frighten of a biracial candidate like Obama. He's going to do away with bush's tax cut FOR THE RICH (mcsame won't)and give tax cuts to the average american makings less than 250K. Yet you have ppl pretending to be rich and say he's going to raise taxes (for all)so that they can continue to bash a man who really wants to lower tax for the common man. Voting against your interest like in 2004 is what got us in this terrible economy. Stay the course right?
Marx would be so proud of your remark there Morpheus. A little race baiting added into a fine socialist screed against the bourgeois. Producers of the world, unite! Beat back these liberal looters.
Everytime your party controls the white house, our economy goes down the drain. The 8 years out of the past 28 where a democrat controlled office, the economy went up....that's all I know...
Probably just a coincidence...all that peace and prosperity.
Hmm, let's check the accuracy of zndprophet's statement. Clinton handed Bush a real recession. Carter handed Reagan the biggest recession since the depression. The first time in over forty years that the bidget was balanced was a year after the GOP took over the House in '94. The US economy has DOUBLED since Reaganomics were enacted. You don't know much. Clinton handed Bush a recession, which was deepened by 9/11 but then we had 52 months of uninterrupted job and great GDP growth.
This is the mentality most Americans have, blame the other side.
Its not left vs right, Dem vs Rep, its the whole damn government!
They do not care about you or me, they care about staying in office and grabing power and they will say anything do anything, spend every last penny we have and take every last right away from us to do it.
GO OBAMA!!! 4 the dude that said his taxes would be going up..... Only if you r makin 250,000 or more itll increase but if you r making under that then they'll decrease. Im sure if ur making over that amount that you'll be able to afford it.
Dude? Nice. I would love to know where all this money is going to come from? He promises everyone everything. He was and still is part of the problem. He is a Washington Elitest and you all need to open your eyes up to it!Dont let this guy fool you. He came from an Ivy League school and is ashamed of America....DUDE!
OMG...you are an idiot! He is fooling so many people in this country that it's SO scary. My taxes are going up and here come the Illegals! Don't get me wrong, Bush was no Reagan but this guy is the definitely not gong to be good for this country IF he wins. McCain is just an old politician who just wants to be President to cap his career as a CAREER Politician.
The fact is that he's half black and deep down that scares the shit out of a lot of people, so no matter who he is as a person, there are going to be numerous rumors made up about him, and people are going to believe them just because deep down many non-black people are highly distrustful of black people.
You and many others hail Ronald Reagan as a great president, but he turned US inner cities into colombian war zones & put Americans through many financial woes.
So, you're just gonna get in the fetal position then?
What if the world doesn't end for awhile? You're just gonna stay in your fetal position, until you're so old you die of natural causes and realized you wasted your life worrying about something that was never gonna happen during it?
Look, I am all about progress. I am realistic and practical about how to make it happen-the world is not over yet, it's just begun. Come out of hiding.
I hate the tone of panic so many americans take...
"WE ARE IN DEEP TROUBLE!"
Well what the fuck are you gonna do about it? Just run around screaming "we're in trouble"? Thats stupid. It's stupid how people can point out so many problems, and have no solutions.
And you think we're in trouble because I support Obama? Buddy, we were in trouble in 2000, when America let Bush into office & we've been ever since-no one is as bad as Bush.
Panic?...the only panic is from the CNNs and Big three networks. The Gloom and Doom Media. I think this country is too stron for the Al Gores and Clintons to bring us down. Hey look we survived Jimmy Carter.
Nice. Carter was a huge disaster economically and diplomatically. Back then we had the worst recession since the depression. Interest rates back then were so high that no lender would consider a sub-prime loan. Unemployment was three times what it is today (and has been for a long, long time). Our economy has doubled in size since Reaganomics was implemented but people today are calling for Obama's Carteresque policies.
I was 19 when I got to vote for the first time. I almost voted for that Peanut Farmer. Thank God a teacher/coach I came from college to visit asked me why. I was educated. Ive votted conservative ever since. Latley its been lesser of two evils. Can you imagine if Gore or "Lovey" Kerry were voted in>

You're the one being fooled.
The fact is that he's half black and deep down that scares the shit out of a lot of people, so no matter who he is as a person, there are going to be numerous rumors made up about him, and people are going to believe them just because deep down many non-black people are highly distrustful of black people.
You and many others hail Ronald Reagan as a great president, but he turned US inner cities into colombian war zones & put Americans through many financial woes.

zndprophet 3 years ago
The trouble is already here, only thing Obama and McCain can do is speed us to our end.
Where we go from there is up to the American people, because the government isnt going to save us with more tryanny.
Though thats most likely what most of us will choose.

I agree but Old man McCain is the lesser of the two evils

I hate the tone of panic so many americans take...
"WE ARE IN DEEP TROUBLE!"
Well what the fuck are you gonna do about it? Just run around screaming "we're in trouble"? Thats stupid. It's stupid how people can point out so many problems, and have no solutions.
And you think we're in trouble because I support Obama? Buddy, we were in trouble in 2000, when America let Bush into office & we've been ever since-no one is as bad as Bush.
Quit being stupid.

Panic?...the only panic is from the CNNs and Big three networks. The Gloom and Doom Media. I think this country is too stron for the Al Gores and Clintons to bring us down. Hey look we survived Jimmy Carter.
soxman17 3 years ago
