  • fantastic!!!

  • how much will the total cost be? I am guessing several billion dollars.

  • @Zurround100 it is worth every dollar USA and world should spend more money in space and stop investing money in building weapons. SPACE is our future finale frontier.

  • @srbenda888 I AGREE I am just CURIOUS. It really irritates me that people complain that this is a waste of money when they should be complaining about multitrillion dollar wars, and "bailouts" of corrupt banks, and the "war on drugs" and the 9 billion dollars lost on a platform in Iraq. Our world totally throws away TRILLIONS of dollars and people whine about using a few BILLION to explore the universe? Those people are IDIOTS. You sure do not see brilliant scientists complaining.

  • @srbenda888 I AGREE, I was never complaining about the price just CURIOUS. A billion dollars is only one thousandth of a trillion dollars and I think instead of the wars that cost trillions we should spend TRILLIONS on science, If Alma can be made with billions imagine a scientific endeavor a thousand times more expensive! We could probably develop warp drive or actually find alien races.

  • This is my 3rd time watching this video today. So amazing...

  • isn't it better, if we can build sth inside our mind, or sth that can enable us to see what's happening within ourselves aside than faraway universe?

  • @gogoleilei That Universe isn't so far away. You are the Universe. There's just a lot more to you than you realized.

  • I'm confused. How could so many dishes be working together to be an astronomical interferometer? I thought that for an interferometer you had to reflect a photon directly into another possible path for that photon, which seems to be violated by the fact that each dish has its own focal point. How is a big computer going to help put that puzzle together?

  • @zassounotsukushi I don't normally recommend wikipedia but check out the entry on interferometry. The ALMA array will be able to use it's size to measure time delays in the (relatively ) long wavelength signals and recombine them to emphasise salient features.

  • @zassounotsukushi stfu noob

  • Thanks for that great upload!
