What a flamer. I work at dragon. The computer I work on is subject to more dust than you probably have ever seen. Works fine for well over a year. What a fuckin hardon. Why don't you pack up your family and your poor old dog and go back to whatever POOFTA town you came from.
fuck you dude, dragon has been there since 1928 (it says so on the sign up front in case you never noticed) so has the dust. if you don't like the dust maybe you should volunteer as a water truck driver,. fuck head .... how many people do you employ ???? get a fucking life .
dude your a dumb ass do you think that the people that built lowes stured up dust and had to blast rock there wasnt even any dust so idk why your bitchin about it. get a fucking job man stop wasting everyones time!!!!
Steve... No one gives a shit... if you don't like it, Move... Mine, and 100's of others familys have lived here all of our lives, and you think dragon will shut down because you want a bit of cash so you can buy another boat? I don't think so pal... If you can't bear to see people make money because you can't... then thats to bad for you sir... Like i said... Get a job, and quit the cigarettes and you might actully see some improvment, and yes I do have nerve... No one cares steve... Seriously.
I am pretty sure they are quite old, and had many blown out windows in the clinker storage building where dust billowed out of. Yes, I believe the Day Care gets a pre-blast call, or use to, and so do we, but it still catches us off guard if we don't pay attention to the clock. They usually call about 15 minutes prior, but there is about a 5 minute window either way, and scares the hell out of my poor old dog no matter the time. No blasting signals, whistles, or sirens. They just stop traffic.
Seriously. The vent in the back of the PC ended up sucking in the fine powder over time and stuck to everything inside the tower, cooling fan blades, etc., causing it to overheat, melting the power supply wires inside and almost catching fire. Luckily I saw the thing smoking and caught it in time. I would think that any computer used in, at, or around the limestone quarry is very dust resistant or dust proof with some kind of pre-filter so it doesn't suck the powder in. If not, it should.
I would add that the dust finds it's way into all the electronics in our home and had completely wrecked a computer. The blasting they do in the quarry involves, at times, near 9,000 + pounds of ANFO in a single shot. Several homes and businesses nearby clearly show major cracked concrete foundations, and a Day Care Center's (just across from the quarry) radiant heated floor has sunken several inches with floor tiles cracked all around the edges. And there's more from "air-blast" too.
For what it's worth, I understand why employees would feel that way, but they should also try to see things from my perspective. The dust isn't so easily removed, especially from cars as it "adheres" to the paint, is very abrasive, scratches finish, and can only be removed using a vinegar and water solution. This isn't just a rock quarry, there is also a cement kiln which produces portland cement. The blasting in the quarry is very heavy, and does cause damage from ground vibration.
I wasn't obstructing traffic. I am fully aware of the "regulations" regarding fugitive dust emissions. If the plant adhered to the "regulations" to begin with, they wouldn't have so many problems. It sure is, as you put it, "amazing" to see quarry trucks crossing a public road.
Just so you know, I don't have any hard feelings towards ANY of the employees who work the quarry, plant, etc.. I just want the damage done to my home, cars, etc.. either fixed, or replaced, or both.
No offense there. The plant totally looked dead, non-operational when we drove by it before buying our home. Who would think that a multi-million, or billion$ company would be so irresponsible?
When we purchased we asked the previous owner what he did for work. His answer, "I drove semi-rigs". Of course he didn't say what he hauled in them, we found that out a year later from talk in the town. Then we found out there were tons of others who complained and nothing was ever done about it.
Look who's talking. Hey, know-it-all, I happen to know ALL the "earth" contractors who work in this area, and I already was aware, many years ago, that Ferriello leased space at Dragon for crushing rock. Who's the dumb one now? Well, we can rule me out since you think you can read other people's minds.
Is your crystal ball polished up? Better hurry, you need it.
You must be suffering from head trauma it appears. Sorry about that.
Happy New Year, anyway..... Hope U get better soon.
Besides rock quarries go through a lot of trouble to keep the dust down. My company pays one man to drive around in a 30 ton water truck and spray the roads all day long- that road was just watered. What a genius, he stands next to a gravel haul road while trucks go by and complains about the dust.
Thats even better, after reading you site your bigger dumb ass then I had first thought. You knew that the quarry was there & you moved in anyway, you out yourself & your family at risk not them. If you don't like that going on in your backyard then just move again... Problem solved. You don't need to make all those people lose there jobs just so you can be happy.
Please just shut up & die. You & all your tree hugging friends are so full of fucking shit you make me sick, "LOOK AT ALL THAT DUST!!!" you couldn't even see any... please just get a life or find something that really matters to bitch about.

That's right, chase out one of the few employers left in the area so even more of you can sit around begging your state for money.

Wow, you just can't read between the lines young man can you.
I was having a simple conversation with this gentleman and answering his questions. It's pretty simple.
No need to reply, as I will only remove and block any more of your pathetic rhetoric attempts.
Good day to you then.

That's nothing, I drive one of those trucks and when you go down a bone dry haul road at 40 mph, you can't see anything behind you at all.
