Other M had too much (mediocre) dialogue; it's like they piled the lost dialogue of the entire Metroid series into one game; it was too short of a game, and they turned Samus into a little bratty bitch (I'm sorry Samus, but it's true. This should not be you!) Yes, it was nice to hear her speak for once in her life, and yes, they did a decent job by making it third-person, but Team Ninja should stay away from the Metroid franchise and stick with Dead or Alive.

I recently finished the game and man, this specific part of music is so excellent. It's truly a miss that I never beat Draygon so I was able to go to Norfair for this music back then when I was 7 and first rented this hidden masterpiece.

Super Metroid still is, and will always be, the best Metroid game, and I am not saying this out of nostalgia, because I didn't grow up with this game (sadly). The tunes, the gameplay. It isn't just another platform shooter like the countless Mega X's and the spin off Zero franchise. This didn't need an all indept story to leave its mark on gaming history. Also, this tune seems to be heavily inspired by Peter Gabriel's Rhythm of the Heat (1982).

It was such a tragedy that Gunpei Yokoi died in '97. Although he had left Nintendo not too long after the flop of the Virtual Boy, I'm sure that his expertise could have been called upon to assist in developing future revisions of the Metroid franchise. There was no N64 Metroid due to the runaway success of this stellar classic. That's how big it was! Try Other M. Not a bad reboot for the franchise. BTW - This tune IMHO is the best Metroid music... EVER!

I've only heard this in Prime (Never played Super D:) and I can't imagine this being anywhere else but Magmoor... Just my opinion though. If I were to go here in Super Metroid, I probably wouldn't be as scared as usual knowing that Ridley's around the corner. In Magmoor this was just the theme that played in that area, and considering Magmoor didn't even have a mini-boss, it was always just a short cut area, relatively peaceful.

I think this version sounds more threatening than Magmoor Caverns. Maybe it's because in Super Metroid, we've just come out of the relaxing Maridia, or maybe because in Prime, we visit Magmoor Caverns so much it's insane. I don't know why, but this version of the song sounds more menacing.
