Man fuck that.. I respect these men.. As a 19D I may end up in the hands of these guys some day.. I really don't think I'd be able to scoop up my battle buddies as a job..
Hey all, former 92M here. I have nothing but praise for the people I worked with. I had to do my job more times than I'd like to admit, but there was always a warm sense of accomplishment. And yeah Jhonny; I'm not the brightest knife in the drawer, but I wanted to make something of myself. Now I make 75k a year at a funeral home; thanks to the training I received in the Army. To all who have served, and all those still serving; HOOAH!
@Covermeporkins11 as blunt as he put it he is somewhat right. without enough training and drilling any piece of equipment can be understood, especialyl in a matter of 9 weeks(basic) and however long your AIT is. sad yes, we live in a age where we dont need to be barbarians but still want to act like them
75% of the Army are ex-convicts and troubled youth......(mindless drones).
Simply put trash.
If you don't like my comment you are either in denial, retarded, ignorant, or never served in the Army. They Army is a JOKE. Patheic.........Any person with down syndrome can get rank (enlisted or officer).
@jhonnycashowns 75% wow! really a person with down syndrome can get rank (enlisted or officer)? Hmmm! lets evaluate that for a second. First you need a college degree either bachelors or masters to become and officer. Now how can a person with down syndrome graduate from college? hmmm! Second to move up in rank as enlisted you have to go to PLDC for sgt, BNOC for staff sgt. and ENOC for Sgt. first class. Now a person with down syndrome couldn't even make it to corporal or specialist. hmm!
@jhonnycashowns you are a really Pathetic coming on here to attack people who try to better them selves. Why dont you just go back to your sad life and quit blaming every body for the failure in life you have become. Just like anything in life you get out what you put in obviously you put in very little bringing you to to the point where you have to come and put others down to build your self up. Sorry You were born to fail and will always be one.GO USA
Why would some want to do this? Isn't it bad enough to see one of your fellow soldiers die and now you have to go get his torn up body and take it away? And imagine having to tell that soldiers family. People like to do what they like to do.
this is one of those MOSs that actually does help you in the civilian world. you can easily go into investigations or any mortuary field after your term is up
I was a 92m for 6 years, deployed to both Bosnia and Kosovo. I would highly recommend this MOS to anyone considering it. 92m's past and present are kinda the unsung hero's of the military. This MOS is only available in the Army. There are two active units, and I think there are two reserve units. And no, those were not actually dead soldiers, they were acting.
@kingheinz57 I dont know why you couldnt get infantry, they just give it away, you know why, because it doesnt take any skill to point a gun and die lol
@yourtony99 actually its very difficult to get infantry at this time because so many people are involved in that field, as for "it doesn't take skill to point a gun and die" why don't you go tell that to the guys in S.F, Force Recon or Navy Seals
to what i understand, somewhat of a military coroner? or no. just a human body bag from off the field.. in an way that must give you tons of mental strength and i am happy to say its in my sights for joining the army this fall.. any advice? please and thank you
Amazingly, I want to be a Mortuary Affairs Specialist. I have been a licensed funeral director and embalmer for more than 12 years and I really want to serve my country. There are civilian positions with this MOS but I can't get a response to my resume. Some are telling me to enlist but I also know that I have a BA in Finance and and AS of Applied Science (Mortuary Science). I need direction right now.
@theharveyco i'm not a 92M but this job is very stressful because people who arent use to working around corpses can lose it easily and plus in a time of war corpses will be coming in like crazy and PTSD can build very fast. But I have trained my mind to deal with this stress and I plan to reclass to this job after deployment. If your curious i'm a 21B combat engineer
Virtually every one of the fallen had parents, siblings, children, buddies and friends. I'd like to think that work of the 92M helps with the healing process by providing proper closure.
This is what just enlisted for. wish me luck! but seriously i dont think its fair when a hero is killed he doesnt return home, so thats why i am doing this. and i wanna be a mortician
@metalfuk1 I think it is great that you are doing this and eventhough you do not have to do this to be a mortician......you are doing a great service to your country.
@theharveyco Thank you, that means a lot. Some of my friends think im stupid for joining and they think im going to get killed. and if that be so id rather die for my country than sit around my whole life wondering if i could have made a difference.
I do this and have been deployed doing it and it can be rough but you just need to stay strong and have a positive attitude...Most 92M that you meet will have the greatest sense of humor and have the most respect towards anyone because in this field you HAVE to be respectful of the dead and still willing to move on and be happy.
@kingheinz57 it's not "fun". It's a job. Full of respect. You have to be a strong individual and have a strong stomach. But having a sense of humor and laughing about things to take your mind off things is the best to have.
i can cope to understanding hey if a friend dies he dies, i can't control that, i just gotta move on and finish the rest of my life where his stopped short, but i'll be honest, i couldn't have this job regardless of whether its in the military or civilian workforce.
i'm a very realistic guy and whatnot, and yea this job is absolutely necessary, and a rather important one to serve those who died their last few honors before returning home, but i couldn't do it.
I had that MOS when I was in the reserves back in the 90's. Never got to perform my job but did get to drink a lot with the 311th QM Co during their anual trainings!!!!!!
this must be a hard job. couldnt imagine seeing dead bodies for a living. id be mentally scared and emotionally hurt by seeing my fellow brothers fallen
you cant let emotions get in the way of what you do, otherwise there's no way anybody would be able to do this. you just can't forget what you're doing is for the family and friends of that person.
this is not what this mos consists of on a daily basis. you will usually sit at fort lee virginia in a classroom doing nothing or in the motorpool doing vehicle maintnence. you will only get the chance to do your job if you are chosen to deploy in which you will only be deployed approx. 6 months. in that case you will pretty much live in the morgue and when called on you will perform your duties.
Apparently Im going to be a PL soon for a plt that does this type of stuff... lucky me...
