I think a lot of folks are missing something here. "Elephant" is a movie. It has characters in it. The characters do shit and in this case some motherfuckers die. Yes, this movie is based off of Columbine, but the this is a movie. With characters. Who are not at all meant to be realistic recreations of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold.

Seems to me that Van Sant wants to make some kind of point about repressed homosexuality.
