and i tried it in real life, but its much more slower, and may be confusing, because you have to always recunt the cards (both of players, hard to keep in mind), (in Falott it writes the numbers..) but maybe with a little practice, it could be enjoyable.

@trenchwire I think it's usually some altruism mixed with the idea that you were the one to help them when nobody else could (an idea which is never 100% true). Either way, I like watching the tutorials I need to watch and I take pride in teaching people, knowing that I was the one they came to.

@ElPayasoMalo when you remove cards from your caravan they are forfeit for the rest of the game but not permanently. if you use up all of your cards before selling all three of the caravans you lose by default as - I assume - you have spent your bidding stack and can no longer counter his bids (score higher on the caravans in the end). I'm not entirely sure, haven't played this since '09

Ok just figured it out. The PC version forces you to press an arrow key once before it lets you do anything else but discard. Even if you press the UP arrow key, which doesn't do anything to your deck (selects no cards or anything) suddenly it will let me select. This game has been out for how long now? Ridiculous bugs from ridiculous developers. /Rant.

No matter how many times I play this shit, it doesn't EVER let me select a card. Ever. Period. It is always grey, and all I can ever do is discard. Everytime I play, I fucking discard all the way to 0 cards and lose, because it simply will not let me do anything else. Stupid fucking game.

They patched it, because all AI now uses kings to fuck up my 10/9/7 10/9/7 10/9/7 setup. On xbox I could do it everytime, now on ps3 ALL ai uses kings to double my caravan. I hate that.

Is there an online version of this game anywhere, or is there perhaps an online card deck in which you can insert any rules you wish to create a game?

In the game, the AI plays really terribly, never placing modifiers on your caravans. Try playing this against a human opponent with random decks and it can be quite fun and challenging.

This game gave me the real shits at first, mainly due to the needlessly confusing instructions and unhelpful gameplay. How the fuck is anyone supposed to know that a card placed ONTO another card is a "modifier", while anywhere else it is a "part"..?? And the direction? What direction! His? Mine? And what's the current suit!?

Anyway I eventually worked it out and havent lost a game since. In fact it's actually addictive, prob the only chance you've got of gambling and actually profiting!!

The suit thing is you can ignore the ascending/descending order by playing the same suit... it works sorta like uno....

Jack removes ONLY the card you place it on and any face cards on it.. notice the 6 was still there after you played it in the beginning...

This video is slightly misleading, sorry, but at the time of this video I don't believe you had sufficient caravan knowledge to make a tutorial...

Couple of points:

1) For PC users, you have to use the cursor keys to select the cards (as the mouse doesn't do anything!)

2) The game finishes when you have two or more winning 'caravans' over your opponent. The 'caravans' must be between 21-26 on both sides I believe - please correct me if I'm wrong. If you're wondering why it's still going on, it's probably because tied caravans make the game continue.

if you are looking to win quick games to rake in the cash, don't try for 26. It doesn't matter. You just need to clear 21 and not go over 26. Also, the opponent never uses face cards against you, so the best quick tip is to stack your deck with kings and jacks. I use a 54 card deck with 7 kings and 7 jacks. 6 tens and then the assortment of the rest. Don't use queens or jokers. waste of time.

Then just make your stacks and trash his whenever he gets up over 21. 5 minute games max.

Using the PC version, everytime I tried to place a number card it would be red (the default placement is in the facecard position, not below other number cards). I thought the game was just broken. Your demonstration of up/down placement at 3:35 (which is not explained anywhere for PC users) was exactly what I needed. Now I can actually play the game! Thanks for taking the time to put this together.

Weird how they do a 5minute tutorial on how to shoot (something we do in almost every game...) but can't spare 5mins to explain a card game they came up with that no-one has any idea how to play other than the lacking text 'help'.

One other note... You can avoid the "Ascending" or "Descending" rule provided all the cards in a stack (or caravan) are of the same suit. I tried it earlier and it does work.

Caravan is very awesome but the AI behind it is a bit retarded. Once you got it figured out it's pretty much impossible to lose, so I pretty much got a money cheat now. All my equipment is paid for with Caravan money.
