This is not a prophecy but common sense. Cities, like countries, businesses and religions, have a life: they are born, grow up, reach their prime, are surpassed by others and die. Sometimes a new city is born nearby, sometimes a little village remains where once a city stood, sometimes a religion gives birth to an off-shoot that outlives its mother church, sometimes a business disappears in its home market while a foreign branch flourishes. But for now the Big Apple has life in it yet!
@omiolo How about some Truth out of Mormonism? Common sense is out of the question. Of the proposals for the property, the Mormon one is "the strongest ... and especially the most profitable," Brillault told the paper. "From what I know, the Mormons are going to spend 80 million euros [$113 million] in total, including land and buildings.".
Last week, Mormon officials in France submitted temple plans and renderings to Philippe Brillault, mayor of Le Chesnay, according to a report in the Le Parisien newspaper. Brillault then invited townspeople to offer their opinions about the multimillion-dollar LDS sanctuary and adjoining buildings possibly going up on the Boulevard Saint-Antoine.
I believe after the rapture of all the born again Christians dead and living (I Thessalonians 4:13-18) that American will impload on its self socially, politcally and economicly. American and the world will follow the antichrist, a world leader that will claim to bring peace to the world after the chaos after the rapture. I believe america will be destroyed some how cause they are not in Bible prophecy concerning the last days.
@omiolo That's a falsehood the Bible says in I Thessalonians 4:16-18 16: "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18: Wherefore comfort one another with these words." v.17 talks about a "snatching away".
What may appear to be of little importance, such as going to bed late, not praying for a day, skipping fasting, or breaking the Sabbath—such little slips—will make us lose sensitivity little by little, allowing us to do worse things.
We must be alert because small choices can bring great consequences, just as going to bed early and waking up early have great consequences. Doctrine and Covenants 88:124 teaches us, “Arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated.” Those who go to bed early wake up rested, with the body and mind invigorated and blessed by the Lord because of obedience.
Dr. M. Wells Jakeman, "the father of Book of Mormon archaeology," was a young Berkeley student when he met fellow LDS student Thomas Stuart Ferguson. By the time the two met, Jakeman had already majored in history at the University of Utah (with a minor in Latin and classes in anthropology) and had received his MA in
history (University of Southern California) with specialization in ancient history and Near Eastern biblical archaeology. At Berkeley, Jakeman did post-graduate work in ancient history and Near Eastern archaeology (especially in the field of cuneiform studies). .
Within a few decades, however, the model gained increased popularity thanks to some of the best-trained LDS scholars, as well as one exuberant amateur enthusiast.
@omiolo, (cont)...And just so you know, the other sheep of the fold in John 10:16 were not nephites and lamanites. THEY WERE THE GENTILES. There are 2 different people according to God: THE NON JEWISH GENTILES, AND THE JEWS. The other sheep were the gentiles. Mormons love to twist the truth. Also Isaiah 29 has nothing to do with buried golden records underneath the ground. IT mentions the hypocritical beliefs of the jews. The book is not the book of mormon, but rather the prophecies of Isaiah.
great arguments, the mormon church is a total crock of baloney. but they're wasted on omiolo. he's a well-known, infamous mormon troll. you'll find that he's completely unable to defend his church too... no real answers, just hateful attacks.
@omiolo You people misinterpret that scripure Here's what it says: John 10:15-17..15:" As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and lay down my life for the sheep. 16:And the other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring in, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepard. 17:Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it up again." The other fold Jesus spoke about are the gentiles.
The promise to enter into the rest of the Lord, to receive the gift of peace, is far from a temporary, worldly satisfaction. It is indeed a heavenly gift: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27)
Let us instead focus on those things that will sustain a lasting peace of mind and heart. Then our “confidence [will] wax strong in the presence of God” (D&C 121:45)
@omiolo, Ok... Why was a jupiter talisman found in jospeh Smith's pocket after his death? We have the evidence. Do you know what a jupiter talisman is? It has alot to do with the occult. Google it up. Joseph Smith even stated as that he once cut his hands to recieve more revelation. Is this a decent "prophet" in your opinion?
@Nashhinton You have evidence about a jupiter talisman being found in his pocket? I would be interested in hearing this. And you say he cut his hands to recieve more revelation? Please tell me where this comes from as well.
It is, however, a day of probation, but it is also a day of opportunities when we choose to follow the invitation to not waste the days of our probation (see 2 Nephi 9:27). The thoughts that we dwell on inside our minds, the feelings we foster inside our hearts, and the actions we choose to take will all have a determining impact on our lives, both here and in the hereafter.
@omiolo, (continued).. A prophet doesnt contradict himself. A prophet doesnt produce a book of divine revelation, and then state later that God is a ressurected man on another planet. Brigham Young went as far as to deny the virgin birth of Jesus, and state that God had sex with Mary, AND OUT COMES JESUS 9 MONTHS LATER! That's INSANE.
In view of our existence as spirit children before we came to earth and immortality in the life hereafter, this earth life is indeed but a very short moment.
We can become steadfast and immovable. We can have lasting inner peace; we can enter into the rest of the Lord. Only if we turn away from light and truth will a hollow feeling of emptiness, like the tree’s, occupy the innermost chambers of our souls, and we even might attempt to fill that emptiness with things of no lasting value.
@omiolo, (continued)... Your own book of mormon contradicts the fundamental aspects of Jospeh Smith's doctrine concerning God being a physical ressurected man with flesh and bone. THE BOOK OF MORMON states that God is a spirit, and that God, Jesus, and the holy spirit, are the same God. Someone's lying about "receiving" revelation.
To find rest unto our souls includes peace of mind and heart, which is the result of learning and following the doctrine of Christ, and becoming Christ’s extended hands in serving and helping others. Faith in Jesus Christ and following His teachings give us a firm hope, and this hope becomes a solid anchor to our souls
FamilySearch has been helping people find their ancestors for over 100 years, but the nonprofit organization sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has never participated in anything quite like this before. "We'll Find the Place" provides a unique perspective through Bennett's dedication to using first-hand accounts from those who participated in the great pioneer emigration to the West. Bennett's book follows the original pioneer team, led by LDS Church leader Brigham Young, from Nauvoo, Ill., all the way to the valley by the Great Salt Lake. . .
Of course, our son was disappointed and asked why we didn’t want him to go. I answered honestly that I didn’t know why. “I just don’t feel good about it,” I explained, “and I love you too much to ignore these feelings inside.” I was quite surprised when he said, “That’s OK, Dad. I understand.”
@omiolo, If you believe in an old fallible geezer as a prophet, it wouldnt suprise me that you'll eventually follow the antichrist and the false prophet after you'll be left behind to suffer God's wrath.
@omiolo, I urge you to see the christian documentary called the Godmakers. Very eerie on how many people still believe in Mormonism. All of the fundamentalist mormons, mainstream mormons, and reformed mormons are cults. I urge you to go to the salt lake city or Los Angeles temple and find the satanic symbol of the inverted pentagram on the side of the temple. You'll be amazed at the many links to satanism.

Years ago our 17-year-old son wanted to go on a weekend trip with his friends, who were all good boys. He asked for permission to go. I wanted to say yes, but for some reason I felt uncomfortable about the trip. I shared my feelings with my wife, who was very supportive. “We need to listen to that warning voice,” she said.
Several years ago at general conference, Elder Joe J. Christensen reminded us that “parenting is not a popularity contest.” 2 In the same spirit, Elder Robert D. Hales has observed, “Sometimes we are afraid of our children—afraid to counsel with them for fear of offending them.
Eli’s sons never did repent, and all of Israel suffered because of their folly. The story of Eli teaches us that parents who love their children cannot afford to be intimidated by them.
ORANGE, Calif. -- Religious groups should unite to protect the religious freedom guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, said Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a speech Friday at Chapman University law school.
He called religious freedom one of the Constitution's supremely important founding principles.
This is stupid. All christians know that EVERY CITY will eventually be destroyed during the last bowl judgement, right before Jesus returns. Joseph Smith obviously read the book of Revelation. This is not a convincing prophecy. That's just repeating something in the Bible.
Even though the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true, we are not to argue or partake in any backlashing to those how know no better. We are to admonish and love those around us. It's not our duty to call people out because they hold certain beliefs. Remember, they are also our brothers and sisters and we are to love and care about them as you would your own family. Your thoughts should be on your own salvation and then for those around you, Even those who post on these sites.
mormons are fools..their beliefs ..their church is taking them down..oh...megahouseguy we'll be looking for ya..we'll be there with jesus while you'll be there with some fool calling him self a prophet...lol..and we'll know the mormons from the normal real jesus loveing people..the mormons will be wearing stickers on their chest saying...HI IM A MORON !!!
Orson pratt was an apostle of joseph smith. But to speak frankly it only takes "one" false prophesy to lable him a false prophet. I am NOT against Orson, But he couldn't see he was NOT destined to the prophethood of the church. Yet he pushed for it. Some are meant to serve but not to prophesy. BELIEVE SMITH OVER HIM
. . . and I predict that sometime in the future something bad will happen and some people will get hurt (not all of them, mind you) - can I be a prophet now, please?
@TJHPhotography And it came to pass that when I, Xmetalearth spake unto TJHPhotography saying someone in the near future, not now, but many days after this manner of speaking, thou will be smacketh upside the head by someone inasmuch hatred of thee. The gift of prophecy will be in you no more!
I believe I qualify for being the next prophet now!!
I dunno if you can validate this since Pratt was never President of the Church much less was the "prophecy" canonized as scripture. There are even prophesies credited to Joseph Smith that were never canonized ans some of those, such as the Horseshoe Prophesy, would be rediculous to apply to the present-day Church.

The results of the ad campaign are measured in a variety of ways such as public opinion, attitudes toward members, conversations with missionaries and number of teaching appointments missionaries receive.
"We would consider this campaign a success if we can move the needle on public perception," said Brother Swofford. "We want people to know that Mormons are a diverse group, but we all follow Jesus Christ."
@omiolo but ..YOUR holy boook just popped up out of nowwhere in the year 1830...how could a...two tribes that large with that many people in the population just dissapear without a trace and not even leave any decsendants..?i dont need to read a boook to know that is illogical.
The focus of this campaign is to introduce members of the Church to people who haven't heard much about Mormons, rather than trying to change the opinion of someone who has set attitudes and opinions about the Church.
@omiolo wait wait ..soa re you trying to say joseph smith prophecisized 9/11?you calll ME ignorant yet you refuse to answer the question...if jesus was in america and witnessed to people..and they built temples..cities..populated the land..whya re there no writings..?why also did he not have man record a holy boook to chronicle teh events...dont you find thatodd that alll these OTHER holy boooks such as the bible..the tora..the quran have alll existed CONSISTANTLY throughout history...but...
@omiolo we dont HAVE set opinion.we are being LOGICAL and using critical thinkinga nd coming up with the LOGICAL conclusion that your boook rerefnces cultures and civilzations that have NO historical record...you cannot prove a negative...there is NO historical record of any "lost ribe"of isreal..oh yeaha nd did JESUS sneak a gun into jail while awaiting trial for ARSON and then shot and killed two men?

SALT LAKE CITY -- It's Passover in Utah, with a Mormon twist. On Monday evening, Jews around the world began the holiday with a Seder, the traditional meal ..
SALT LAKE CITY -- LDS Church officials said they are constantly concerned about the safety of their 52,000 missionaries serving around the world.
The statement was issued Monday by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after the sentencing of James Boughton, Jr., 23, in Virginia. Boughton was found guilty by jurors in 2008 of the shooting death of Morgan W. Young, of Bountiful, in January 2006 in Deep Creek, Va.
SALT LAKE CITY — The Church History Department has been around for a long time.
In fact, the office of Church Historian was first constituted on the day the church was organized in 1830 as one of the first three positions. Since then, people have been trying to gather, collect, preserve and share the history of the church.
Growing up in Newbury Park, Calif., Patterson received several Division I scholarship offers but chose not to play at all and attended Ricks College before going on his mission.
He returned and played at Utah Valley University for one semester before BYU spotted his immense talent and offered him a scholarship to play there. At 6-foot-6 and with a measured reach of 8-11, he ranks just behind current No. 1 ranked AVP star Phil Dallhausser in the "wingspan" statistic.
Fans will come up to Patterson and say, "I have a buddy who is a member of your church. He said to say hi." There are a couple of responses that work well in steering those conversations to talking about the church.
Larry Draper, a special collections curator for BYU's Harold B. Lee Library, casually rolled a library shelving cart into the small conference room and said, "Good morning."
The temple will face east toward the Box Elder tabernacle and will have two spires — the taller one with its Angel Moroni statue that will rise several feet higher than the Box Elder Tabernacle's tallest point.
An estimated 7,000 packed the temple site property and the lawns of the tabernacle. Ceremonies were also broadcast live to a dozen local stake centers.
A four-story building with approximately 36,000 square feet, the Brigham City Utah Temple is patterned after the classic designs of the Church's Logan, Manti and Salt Lake temples. It will be the 14th temple in Utah.
The new temple will feature a limestone exterior and a peach-blossom motif.
On Saturday, YSAs participated in a Mormon Helping Hands project at nearby Professor's Lake. Organized in partnership with the City of Brampton, the young single adults donned yellow vests (with Mormon Helping Hands written in French, English or Mandarin Chinese) and cleaned up refuse from trails around the park's freshwater lake, which is a 15-minute walk from the temple. Following the service activity, YSA participated in beach volleyball, sand castle building, relays and other activities.
3 Nephi 15:21 is a word-for-word quote of John 10:16 (from the KJV). However, this version is somewhat less than 400 years old. And, to make matters worse, the Book of Mormon even quotes the italicized word “and” that was supplied by the King James translators. Here, the writer of the Book of Mormon unwittingly demonstrates his work to be plagiarism.
Plagiarism is all over the Book of Mormon. Large chunks of Isiah copied in King James Elizabethan language. Just how does that work?
David Ulrich, who served as the Canada Montreal Mission president from 2002-05 with his wife, author Wendy Ulrich, also spoke to the group on Friday about finding abundance in life. David Ulrich, a professor and human resources consultant, spoke in both English and French, and many of the YSAs from Ottawa and Quebec shared fond memories of the lasting impact the Ulrichs left in that area.
When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, mother inquired what the matter was. I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.” I then said to my mother, “I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.” (Joseph Smith—History 1:20)
And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at JERUSALEM which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.
And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them...

And I, Jacob, saw that I must soon go down to my grave; wherefore, I said unto my son Enos: Take these plates. And I told him the things which my brother Nephi had commanded me, and he promised obedience unto the commands. And I make an end of my writing upon these plates, which writing has been small; and to the reader I bid farewell, hoping that many of my brethren may read my words. Brethren, ADIEU.
The excuses for this word are a mockery of reason.
Alma 37:38, dated at 73 B.C., speaks of the people using a “compass.” However, such an instrument was not invented until about A.D. 1100. How could there be a divinely inspired translation of a word describing something that did not exist? This is a mark of fraud.
Acts 11:26 says: "And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. AND THE DISCIPLES WERE CALLED CHRISTIANS FIRST IN ANTIOCH."
I'm interested. Tell me what the last sentence means if it doesn't mean what it says, please...

This long-awaited, 545 page volume contains riveting stories of many
of the 7,600 members of the LDS Church in East Germany. These Saints
found themselves in a precarious situation when World War II broke
out in September 1939. They were compelled to live under the tyranny
of Nazi Germany and thus to participate in offensive and defensive
military actions. The story of how they lived--and died--under those
conditions has never been told.

What may appear to be of little importance, such as going to bed late, not praying for a day, skipping fasting, or breaking the Sabbath—such little slips—will make us lose sensitivity little by little, allowing us to do worse things.
omiolo 11 months ago
We must be alert because small choices can bring great consequences, just as going to bed early and waking up early have great consequences. Doctrine and Covenants 88:124 teaches us, “Arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated.” Those who go to bed early wake up rested, with the body and mind invigorated and blessed by the Lord because of obedience.

It is, however, a day of probation, but it is also a day of opportunities when we choose to follow the invitation to not waste the days of our probation (see 2 Nephi 9:27). The thoughts that we dwell on inside our minds, the feelings we foster inside our hearts, and the actions we choose to take will all have a determining impact on our lives, both here and in the hereafter.
omiolo 11 months ago
@omiolo, (continued).. A prophet doesnt contradict himself. A prophet doesnt produce a book of divine revelation, and then state later that God is a ressurected man on another planet. Brigham Young went as far as to deny the virgin birth of Jesus, and state that God had sex with Mary, AND OUT COMES JESUS 9 MONTHS LATER! That's INSANE.

We can become steadfast and immovable. We can have lasting inner peace; we can enter into the rest of the Lord. Only if we turn away from light and truth will a hollow feeling of emptiness, like the tree’s, occupy the innermost chambers of our souls, and we even might attempt to fill that emptiness with things of no lasting value.
omiolo 11 months ago
@omiolo, Somewhere = someone. Sorry. Typo :P
Nashhinton 11 months ago
@omiolo, (continued)... Your own book of mormon contradicts the fundamental aspects of Jospeh Smith's doctrine concerning God being a physical ressurected man with flesh and bone.

David Ulrich, a professor and human resources consultant, spoke in both English and French, and many of the YSAs from Ottawa and Quebec shared fond memories of the lasting impact the Ulrichs left in that area.

When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, mother inquired what the matter was. I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.” I then said to my mother, “I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.” (Joseph Smith—History 1:20)

Alma 7: 10
And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at JERUSALEM which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.

I find this verse interesting:
2 Ne. 5:21 (see also v22)

Spot the French word:
Jacob 7: 27

Must have been a special one, right?

The Bible relates that at the crucifixion there were three HOURS of darkness (Luke 23:44).
However, the Book of Mormon states there was darkness “for the space of three DAYS” (Helaman 14:20,27).
This is a big difference. Which one is true? Can God be responsible for conflicting statements such as these?

The Bible clearly reveals that the disciples of Christ “were called Christians first in Antioch” (Acts 11:26). This was approximately A.D. 40.
However, Alma 46:13,15, dated at 73 B.C., has people already wearing the name “Christian”—which represents a difference of over 100 years.
Which account are people to believe?

@RPM11111 I think you want the scripture to say
"And the FIRST TIME ANYONE WAS CALLED Christians WAS in Antioch. "
and it does NOT say that. Please learn to accept the Bible for what it says and NOT what you want it to say!

I await your response with anticipation.

@RPM11111 I think you just TOTALLY ignored what I typed. Let me know when you can MORE about HONESTY than you do about trying to trip up a Mormon.
