I wonder what harp harmonics would sound like on the harp strings XD... Anyway, yes this is one of the most slickist pieces of machinery I've ever seen! I would spend hours messing around with the self tuning guitars or Sympitars... 5/5.
Wauw William eaton makes good instruments...and hes also a good player...i have his cd and hes making weird sounds but it also becomes a song....bless
Yes, similar to you hitting a harmonic and turning your tuning peg while the note was sounding, like using harmonic tuning string to string on the 5th fret. We are adjusting tension at the bridge so all William did was change tunings when he hit a harmonic.
they constantly change throughout the song, thats what the buttons behind the lower bridge are for. im guessing a guitar like that would be very pricey, probly close to 5 grand
Although, his technique for multineck is great, it would be cool if William had an echo stomp box to keep a progression going while playing over it. Just hearing that tuning change is a cool effect in itself.
Yes Jesse, the motor speeds can be controlled. If you want to hear some very slow speeds used very effectually, check out Page/Coverdale, Absolution Blues
Good question. We use strings with a reinforced wind, particulalry Daddario KXL series. You would be completely surprised by the string performance and durability.
Unreal....

He Is Sort of Too Busy DIcking with the Self Tuning Devise to Actually Concentrate on the Song....
fredrickson1 2 years ago
He's "DIcking" with the tuner because as the catption to the video says, he is testing his guitar.

I would expect changing the tuning on all of those strings would result in a giant SNAP
But it didn't, and it sounds amazing.

that is SO unbelievably cool! I imagine there would be some string breakage with the constant retuning though?

I like the auto tuning, but that instrument is well, interestingly geeky.

It even works with harmonics, doesn't it? I'm talking about the thing he did around 2:00.

William Eaton birthed it. He finished it last October.

The stuff he plays is amazing. About the system: doesn't it stress the strings a lot tuning them up and down again and again?
