Even after 36 years, the name "Saigon" is still used widely among Southern Vietnameses. "Saigon" is no longer on the map but in the heart of many Vietnameses, that name never fades away.
As a matter of fact when flying to Vietnam from Hong Kong , Saigon is STILL listed as SAIGON on the destination screen at the airport.
Just like the scumbag communists renamed St Petersburg only to see lenins statutue ripped down and crapped on before changing the name back to the original, someday the same thing will happen in Saigon.
@tvbmovielover The spirit of Saigon is not dead and will live again. You can change the name but not the city. As Vietnam gains financial success people will also demand political freedom.

I'm so mad that The Republic of South Vietnam fell in 1975, I always wonder what Saigon and South Vietnam would've been like in the 21st century.
Guess I'll never find out now.
Opinions anyone?
