@boisenewbie It's probably not as loud as it seems. Camera's and microphones pick up so much more than our ears usually do. How many times have you taped a home movie and then gone to play it back and you cringed at how loud the T.V. in the background was but you didn't notice it at all while you were filming it? It's probably kinda like that. :-)
@boisenewbie she stated in a couple of her interviews that she has been on antidepressants since she has been teaching at Colorado State University. Not the sole reason, but it does "even you out" so to speak, so that kind of thing won't be so difficult. Amazing woman, and an amazing movie! I am sincerely glad that she approved of the way to movie was done!
Finished watching this movie tonight. It's an amazing true life story that touched me so much. Left a happy tear at the end.
The different topics, from autism, anxiety, animal behavior and ethical treatment of animals for food consumption are intriguing. I'm drawn to this story in so many ways.
WOW. I decided to read her book "Animals in Translation" for my career biography... I'de never heard of her before but now that I google her it appears that she is rather famous. O.o She's such an interesting person, she amazes me.
@brubry12 She was never diagnosed with AS because the diagnosis didn't exist when she was a child, but I agree, I think she may have a more severe form of Asperger's Syndrome.
She is a lot like me. I can't wait to see the movie.
probably the best movie made in last 15 years on all accounts, plot, acting, extracting the pure juice of this extraordinary woman's life as we sat back in pure awe and amusement she is a national treasure on oh so many counts.
I saw her at the most recent Duke graduation. She recieved the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters. Was a shame she didn't do any talking during the ceremony, but it piqued my interest in her. I read the book (it was amazing and insightful) and I was thrilled when I learned that HBO had also made it into a movie (a great one at that).
She is a great and inspiring woman who deserves nothing less than the exaltation and acolades heaped upon her. Godspeed Temple Grandin.
after watching that movie it gave me such a higher hope for my son who is 7 with autism that he too is able to go on and change the world like temple!! she is unbelievable and daniel u r too...mommy and daddy love u very much and dont ever let anyone tell u u cant do anything!!!!

Asperger's syndrome is an attempt by Dr. Hans Asperger to worm his way into the history books by labelling people who are simply assholes with a fake mental illness. (The name itself is a euphemism for what he called "Autistic Sociopaths"). Like all mental illness there is absolutely no physical evidence that it actually exists.
@deafguyclass07 are you saying you have Asperger's syndrome? Asshole? Walk a mile in my shoes dealing with two Aspies and tell me again that it is a fake illness.
@deafguyclass07 Thats an insult to the many people who have it and those who are trying to help with Asperger's Syndrome to cope with life. i have had the honor to live and go to school with many with this very real syndrome. so do your research or just F**k off!
Thank the (insert deity) for Temple Grandin, Claire Danes, and HBO/writers for absolutely crushing it on this one. It is the MOST compelling movie I've seen in a long time and everyone I know thought the same thing. I would have paid top dollar to see this first run.
@deafguyclass07 I'll bet you know a lot about sucking but I guess you won't be able to read this until your buddy tells you it's alright to get up off your knees and wipe your chin off. Am I right or am I right/ Bitch.
@jeffsor47 You are a worthless waste of life, which is why — at this precise point in the time space continuum — you are reading this sentence. You think you should be doing something more productive, but for some reason, you aren't.
Dr. Grandin was one of my professors at CSU. She is an amazing woman and Claire Daines captured her very well. HBO did an excellent job and it is thrilling to watch Dr. Grandin get recognition in the "main stream." Congratulations!
This was the best movie in last several years. This woman is an inspiration....If you are feeling down about your life and having pity party, just look at what this woman has accomplished.......
I wish Hollywood would dig deep to find more compelling and inspiring stories like this. Clair was incredible in this movie and the example Temple makes for us all deserves praise.
Thats awesome! I love the movie and Temple is more than cool. Thank God someone on this dang planet thinks about the ethical treatment of animals. Even if they are going to be killed for food they should always be treated with respect and kindness while they live. Always! Thanks Temple!
@Damianmace Actually, there are still many problems in our Food system and not many people seem to care. Tyson chickens arent allowed sunlight. They are given growth hormones theat grow the mucles too fast for the bones so their legs break and then they sit in their own fecis in the dark. Farmers are allergic to antibiotics now becaseu it is put in feed. Watch "Food Inc." and "Corn King" very important matters!!!
You are a national treasure. Your indomitable spirit, courage, and passion has left me in awe. You are my hero! May God always bless you and the work at your hands. And I thank God with the deepest of gratitude for creating such a marvelous, intelligent , sensitive, wise, compassionate, and gracious human being like you. You truly are beautiful inside and out. You are the BEST of humanity. I wish you every happiness. I'm forever your fan! XO
