@boisenewbie It's probably not as loud as it seems. Camera's and microphones pick up so much more than our ears usually do. How many times have you taped a home movie and then gone to play it back and you cringed at how loud the T.V. in the background was but you didn't notice it at all while you were filming it? It's probably kinda like that. :-)

@boisenewbie she stated in a couple of her interviews that she has been on antidepressants since she has been teaching at Colorado State University. Not the sole reason, but it does "even you out" so to speak, so that kind of thing won't be so difficult. Amazing woman, and an amazing movie! I am sincerely glad that she approved of the way to movie was done!

Finished watching this movie tonight. It's an amazing true life story that touched me so much. Left a happy tear at the end.

The different topics, from autism, anxiety, animal behavior and ethical treatment of animals for food consumption are intriguing. I'm drawn to this story in so many ways.

@brubry12 She was never diagnosed with AS because the diagnosis didn't exist when she was a child, but I agree, I think she may have a more severe form of Asperger's Syndrome.

She is a lot like me. I can't wait to see the movie.

I saw her at the most recent Duke graduation. She recieved the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters. Was a shame she didn't do any talking during the ceremony, but it piqued my interest in her. I read the book (it was amazing and insightful) and I was thrilled when I learned that HBO had also made it into a movie (a great one at that).

She is a great and inspiring woman who deserves nothing less than the exaltation and acolades heaped upon her. Godspeed Temple Grandin.

@Damianmace Actually, there are still many problems in our Food system and not many people seem to care. Tyson chickens arent allowed sunlight. They are given growth hormones theat grow the mucles too fast for the bones so their legs break and then they sit in their own fecis in the dark. Farmers are allergic to antibiotics now becaseu it is put in feed. Watch "Food Inc." and "Corn King" very important matters!!!

She is just such an awesome person and brings such hope to so many people! I have a highly functioning autistic son and this movie just blew me away. He is so smart and yet has trouble relating to people. I am so glad they won and got their due respect! The truth is that brilliance and popularity are two very different things! What would this world be like without the brilliant minds (and often socially awkward) people?

On a side note - Sheldon Cooper also won! IMO he is on the spectrum. :)
