  • Too cool!!!!

  • Would you mind letting me in on where you purchased the stove body?? I have been looking all over for something like that for my remote system...

  • What purpose does the fiberglass cloth serve? It seems like an unnecessary step.

    Just curious.

  • People had always said the fiberglass dry walling and I thought why not body repair fiberglass cloth. Thanks

    Cheers

  • Any idea where to get the tin? Found them on walmart website but you have to buy a 20 pack.

  • I got mine from a hobby shop...in a 20 pack. They are sold as wedding favor tins, at least the ones I purchased. The tins have many uses, so I didn't have any issue buying in that bulk. Sorry I couldn't point you in a direction for smaller numbers, my friend. Peace.

  • great stove...thanks for the video..yourself,nchiker1970 and hiram have turned me into a stovie....lol...thanks..

  • You can also find 3 and 4 inch strainer sets at Dollar Tree for $1.00. The 3 incher fits in the top of a Heiny pot. Don't know how usesful that might be, but it fits!

  • awesome! beautiful flame shape.

  • This is my first time viewing your work. Oops56 directed us over to your videos. Thanks for choosing the StarLyte as a DIY project. You do great work. All your stoves look first class. You've made many stoves and have lots of experience, what is your favorite stove? Thanks for sharing your DIY projects.

  • Thanks! I appreciate the compliment. As far as my overall favorite stove, it would be the Featherfire, but I can't make an exact copy, so I am currently working on my Jet Stove as a version of it. I like adjustability and lightweight characteristics. For overall dependability, of the stoves I have made so far, I like your Starlyte for a pure, boil only but rock solid and safe stove. For bigger pots and overall boil situations, I like the crumb-catcher. It all depends on the situation. Peace.

  • I will also add that the crumb-catcher looks to be good for almost any pot, but I have yet to make one. Peace.

  • For an uber-lite stove that can handle from a 24 oz. heiny pot all the way to a 8 " pot, I do like the elite-style side burner stove. Peace.

  • Got the FeatherFire design down now, thanks to Drak (NCHiker1970). Ours are different in the cans we use, but the same as the original in usability! Peace.

  • Very Nice!!!

  • very cool lil stove

  • Thanks man. I appreciate it. Zelph designed it about a year ago and I just substituted the insulation for the marine wick. Seems to work just as well, so I go with it. Peace.

  • Informative as always! I too have built this stove. I did put the grommet into the center like Zelph's, but I do like this design as well.

  • Zelph started making them with a stainless screen a bit ago, but I do remember the grommet design. I never really understood the real use of the grommet, as the stove readily accepts the fuel. I was trying to make a how-to that can be done with just a few items around the house. KISS principle. Thanks for the comment! Peace.

  • It was when I first seen the stove, It did help make it easier to put the fuel in with the flip top bottles. but the design I have now does not use the grommet.

  • Gotcha. Things always improve. They must adapt, or become obsolete. Peace.

  • Nice work!

    I've had this idea:

If you use a card, such as used to card wool, perhaps you could card the pink fiberglass into one coherent direction, like the marine wicking is. Then just roll it to the size needed to fit the tin.

    Bill

  • Good idea. I was just going for simplicity this run through. Others can run with it and I welcome all improvements. This is a decent design, but not my favorite. Thanks for the comment! Peace.
