As for them "making no effort" in between lessons, not everyone can afford insurance to practice in another car as well as paying the high cost of driving lessons... so yes, I think they do take it seriously. I passed my driving test 2 years ago and i remember that my instructor told me that you should always keep safe distance between cars.In my opinion this Instructor should wait for car to finish parking- look in the first 14-18 sec.of this video. This small car,driving on front turned left to give away or parked car.Instructor stop too close and then he moved too early- that car on front was not in line yet,not in the strait position. its my opinion.

My instructor said the same, alot of learners only put in half effort. I am taking my test next week an even i think the whole test format needs a revamp. Instead of independent driving why not have all the manuvours in the test? An also some basic highway code questions are more important than knowing how to check your anti freeze! Just my opinion. Also the highway code needs updating! New cars alot safer yet they highway code remanes the same as its always been.

this man is not saying anything wrong in pointing out that some learners are not serious. obviously after he asked the question of what a sign mean and a pupil do not know of course he is going to tell them. but it will be more beneficial for a pupil to read on it before going on the road.
On a serious note though, I got my test next month, you see the clip at 0:09 with the parked cars... what would the correct thing to do there or did the driver do it correctly and let the other driver pull in?

I used the first PS3 GTA game to help me practise driving before I had my test. Long as you pretend its in the UK and not US it actually engages your brain really well.

the theory test i had was rubbish, focused more on stuff like "if it is wet what should you do" and "you have been in a collision" very few about road signs so i had to relearn the important stuff like the NSL and other signs for my lessons
Yes, I'm aware how much lessons cost, and I still maintain that there are some people who are wasting their money taking more lessons than necessary not because they have a bad instructor but because they don't put in th extra effort that will enable them to progress faster.

The only complaint I've had about a driving instructor was the AA, he speaka de Italiano, he obviously wanted to make me feel hopeless and buggered off for a '3 week holiday' (to take someone on an intensive driving course) and left me without any lessons for that period. When he returned I fell to pieces and thought it was me at first. But I wised up and saw through his cunning plan (it would take me a year to learn!!!) and sacked him. Now I am on course to take test shortly.

i learned to drive in southern california. i'm pretty proud that i drove in the UK without any real issues (aside from being cited for driving in central london during congestion).
I do agree that more effort should be put in my the learner but here in Ireland learner drivers aren't allowed drive alone so depending on someone to practice with can feel like a huge burden. As for theory you're spot on but familiarity only comes when driving. Try talking to someone when they're a beginner and you won't get a positive response anyway.
and on the actual driving test, you should have to drive on highways, have to park to get gas and all that. all they made me do was drive through residential streets for about 5 minutes and then parallel park. any retard can get a license and its pathetic. some of my friends that are girls are some of the worst drivers, one of my friends totalled 3 cars and passed a driving test then wrecked 2 more times after that. might as well give licenses out for 50 bucks a pop, no test required.
you learn to drive by driving, not by reading the stupid drivers manual. by the time you are of age to get your license you should already all the important rules. i failed my test the first time (not driving test) because i got asked dumbass questions like "how far away should you park from a curb" and the answers would be a point of an inch different. or "how many feet away do you need to turn off your brights" and the answers would be within 25 feet of eachother.

I take offence to this. I wouldn't fork out £30 for my theory and £60 for my practical if I wasn't serious about it. I didn't read the Highway Code book; I had my own way of learning. If this is how you come across to your pupils then God help them. I know for a fact I wouldn't pay my instructor £40 a lesson for him to sit there and shout at me.

Im guilty of not preparing for my test throughly. Luckly I passed both my theroy and practical 1st time though. So I must have done enough. But I felt I could have prepared alot more.

I don't tell people off for forgeting something, the purpose of the video is to let people know that they can learn faster and increase their chances of passing the test, if they put in extra work outside the car to increase their knowledge.
Many complain about how much it costs to pass the test here in the UK, and following my advice, can help cut costs.
I give a debrief at the end of a lesson, but a week later the same is not put into practice because somethings have been forgotten.

Her instructor remarks: "Second is straight down from first! You haven't been studying at all...." That the learner driver's blonde is irrelevant, but that she's dumb is very much relevant.

For those who don't know: Built up areas: 30 mph. Single lane carriage ways: 60 mph. Dual Carriage ways: 70 mph. Motorways: 70 mph.
The sign for "national speed limit applies" is a white circle with a black strike through it.
30 mph usually "applies to all traffic on all roads with street lighting."
I'm 17 and studying for A-Levels. If I can remember it, so can you.

i learned to drive in southern california. i'm pretty proud that i drove in the UK without any real issues (aside from being cited for driving in central london during congestion).

I do agree that more effort should be put in my the learner but here in Ireland learner drivers aren't allowed drive alone so depending on someone to practice with can feel like a huge burden. As for theory you're spot on but familiarity only comes when driving. Try talking to someone when they're a beginner and you won't get a positive response anyway.

and on the actual driving test, you should have to drive on highways, have to park to get gas and all that. all they made me do was drive through residential streets for about 5 minutes and then parallel park. any retard can get a license and its pathetic. some of my friends that are girls are some of the worst drivers, one of my friends totalled 3 cars and passed a driving test then wrecked 2 more times after that. might as well give licenses out for 50 bucks a pop, no test required.

you learn to drive by driving, not by reading the stupid drivers manual. by the time you are of age to get your license you should already all the important rules. i failed my test the first time (not driving test) because i got asked dumbass questions like "how far away should you park from a curb" and the answers would be a point of an inch different. or "how many feet away do you need to turn off your brights" and the answers would be within 25 feet of eachother.

on my test i got a beach (women) instructor an she fail me becos i was turning right to fast ... LIKE WTF !!! there is NO speed limit for turns .... 90% them are just riping us off and failing us so we jus pay them more and more .

This Guy is what I truly call an Idiot. First of We are paying you 20 - 25 pounds an hour for your non skilled required job. All you have to know to be able to be an instructor is, how to drive, and how to teach people. If people do not know what a sign means then explain it to them and tell them what it means nicely instead of getting angry, at the end of the day we are paying you bitches a lot of money for these lessons so just shut the fuck up and start teaching.

To the people who are slating him and pulling down his videos. At the end of the day the guy just wants you to pass your test and become a competent and safe driver. There should be more driving instructors like him. I passed my test in July 2008 and I watched many of these videos and It helped me in a huge way. Also making me calm. Thanks a lot sir. I take offence to this. I wouldn't fork out £30 for my theory and £60 for my practical if I wasn't serious about it. I didn't read the Highway Code book; I had my own way of learning. If this is how you come across to your pupils then God help them. I know for a fact I wouldn't pay my instructor £40 a lesson for him to sit there and shout at me.

@whenderson0 that instructor is a total muppet! He seems to attract a certain type of client, most normal people will go with a recognised and reputable company. Until that muppet learns some people skills, all the video is doing is giving him and his employer or business a bad name. Who would go to him to learn to drive?
Everyone that learns is serious, but he is just a bad instructor that can't communicate very well or interract with humans! I doubt many of his pupils pass.

I am thankful that I will never ever again have to go through the awful experience of learning to drive ever again. Thank goodness I have my license and have had it long enough to not have to worry about having to take a driving test again. Yech.

Im guilty of not preparing for my test throughly. Luckly I passed both my theroy and practical 1st time though. So I must have done enough. But I felt I could have prepared alot more.

I have my driving test in 2 weeks and I get soo nervous when I sit in my instructors car now, I put the clutch in with my left leg and and it has a life of its own and has a spaz attack, it starts to shake terribly :( ...

he is being very critical.i agree the pupil must do their part and study,but my instructors always asked me questions at the end of my lesson and i preferred that.i work long hours,which gave me little time to study theory.that was how i learned

I don't tell people off for forgeting something, the purpose of the video is to let people know that they can learn faster and increase their chances of passing the test, if they put in extra work outside the car to increase their knowledge.
Many complain about how much it costs to pass the test here in the UK, and following my advice, can help cut costs.
I give a debrief at the end of a lesson, but a week later the same is not put into practice because somethings have been forgotten.

@sholao: In response to your question "How serious are you about learning to drive and passing your driving test?", the learner driver in the YouTube video "Dumb blonde taking a driving lesson (SUBTITLED)" (in Polish with English subtitles) clearly isn't serious enough about learning to drive. Her instructor remarks: "Second is straight down from first! You haven't been studying at all...." That the learner driver's blonde is irrelevant, but that she's dumb is very much relevant.
