For all you Yoko haters (or think she broke up the beatles): She did not break up the Beatles. The beatles broke up the beatles. Yoko, by loving John, actually saved the Beatles from having to work together in a false of environment of appearing to the world like they 'liked' each other. Their egos grew, as did their faith in their individual talents, and they wanted to move on.
at 9:24 they hold as sign saying "Bagism" John invented it inspired by the theme of Antoine de Saint-Exupérys "The Little Prince," which was "One sees rightly only with the heart, the essential is invisible to the eyes." A bag hiding her and John's appearance, would make their essence or the essence of their message visible was why they hid in one at a press confrence once. It''s mentioned in Beatles songs "The Ballad of John and Yoko" & "Come Together" and in"Give Peace a Chance"
john couldnt compete with paul for years once they started writing their own songs, at least in terms of hit songs. read the rolling stone article about the beatles break up from this past year, john couldnt keep up and didnt really want to. paul was a machine from sgt. pepper on and george was getting great at writing songs too. john still had great songs dont get me wrong but he just didnt want to do it anymore
This is the version of "Let It Be" with which I first became acquainted. Then I heard that thing that Phil Specter produced and I couldn't believe he would butcher such a good song like that! This version is SO much better!
@rickyfan3956 yes i agree, this is the better version than the version Specter released. In fact the version they released has Paul playing the "botched chord" during the last verse on "mother mary, come to me"...Paul doesn't hit the right chord when he start's with 'mother'...I also like the wording with ...'there will be no sorrow"..which gets cut out from what they released...oh well....
man... everybody's complaining like yoko was the only reason for he break up... like she fuckin set up traps for the other guys and put laxative in their meals... they just became four men with different interests in life and in music and also got fed up of the routine the music was turning into. i mean, yoko is john's LOVE. wtf are you comlaining about ? be grateful for the many things the beatles did, and for once understand that everething ends one day or one way.
@deeewd True, Yoko was not the only reason, but she definitely was a factor. True, Yoko was John's love, but so was Cynthia and she never interfered. True, we should be grateful for everything The Beatles did, but we still wish they were together. It goes both ways.
You know, i don't want to blame the breakup entirely on Yoko, but she could at least smile once in a while in the studio! It's as if she's trying to make the atmosphere worse.
Don't forget that Linda was there too. The Beatles were fed up with themselves, it wasn't really about Yoko's presence in the studio. She was scapegoated.
I don't know why people don't like Yoko. I met her last year at a press conference and she was such a lovely person... Extremely intelligent and funny.
But I think that if The Beatles had been in their studio alone, without Linda OR Yoko, they might have lasted a bit longer. While there was tension between them in later years, it would have been easier to communicate amongst themselves when they were alone.
Maybe it's because she's the one who is always blamed for the breakup. I haven't met her, so, I will admit, I have no right to criticize.
2. However, I don't agree to some of her choices, such as declaring her love for John when she was married to Cox, and I personally thought she was with The Beatles throughout many personal moments that probably would have gone smoother without her ( or any of their wives ) there. I can't say she's a bad person, but I can say that, from the interviews and the quotes from The Beatles, she DID have an effect on them that they sometimes perceived as negative.
How dare she...sit there? Enjoying the company of her man?
Yoko gets blamed for a lot just because she wasn't within the group. They would've broken up anyway, that much is obvious from watching the footage. The only difference is without Yoko, there would not have been a convenient scapegoat.
Listen everybody has that friend that has the girlfriend that is constantly around. When you try to speak privately to that friend, you have to speak with the girlfriend that is always right there with them. And it gets old real quick...i feel my boy pauls pain
I know how you feel! To make things worse i've seen a tv report in the late 70's of John saying it was all "water under the bridge" and wouldn't mind if they one day got back together.

Interesting that at the time this song was written, there were reported apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mother in Garbandal, Spain. I wonder if Paul and all the Beatles know about the Virgin Mary appearing in Fatima, Portugal and later possibly Spain. See Revelations 12:1 and onward. Hope of Deliverance. Deliver us from...
We use to sing Let It Be in our Catholic church back in around 73-74 or so. Now THAT'S the power of good music!

@deeewd Well said. Instead of saying "F*ck Yoko" like I've seen in previous posts, we should be saying "Thank you, Yoko" for making John so happy.
"Woman, I can hardly express my inner feelings and thankfulness for showing me the meaning of success."
Excerpt from "Woman" by John Lennon (off the Double Fantasy album, 1980).
