  • @coolanddark

HEY DAN! Thank you, man! I appreciate it and I'm glad you still like my old chants and rants lol. I have a few irons in the fire, but they're temporarily stifled by current life-chores (wow- a song in there some damn place). I must confess laziness has reared its ugly head a bit, too.

    Please have a great no-broken-strings -- found-my-favorite-pick day.

    Your friend & fan,

    Wes (Lee)

    Lee

  • Love the lyrics...really nice song. I bet your aunt and uncle loved it too 5*

    Deb

  • They really did love it. They had a rented hall with food, flowers, and all the fixin's, and an impromptu jam after. I played this little ditty and am proud to say there literally wasn't a dry eye there (including mine, lol). It was difficult making it through the thing, it was so quiet, 'cept for me and my late grandfather's old guitar. It was truly a remarkable and memorable day.

Thank you Deb, for your kind words!

    (and the invite!)

    Your new friend,

    Lee

  • Aaaah, Lee, this is so beautiful! What a warmhearted, tender song. Love the lyrics, too!

  • Thank you so much! Tuks is great! And so are you!

    Lee

  • You just don't know how to write a bad song, do you? :) This is unbelievably beautiful, Lee ... so filled with heart and the solid bedrock of love. This is a song worthy of 50 years ... I'm sure your family loved it! Suze

  • Yer so cool, Hon.

Mostly, after kickin' so many lyrical dead horses over the years, I've begun to be able to cull the lame stuff before it hits paper. Man, what a bonfire we could have with the 30 years of words that did! lol

I'm very pleased with this one; I play it often, among many others, of course. These make me feel a little warmer inside when I do.

    Thank you, Suze, for you!

    Always,

    Lee

    (smilin')

  • Excellent song Lee,beautiful lyrics and a great gift for your aunt and uncle.

  • Thanks, Davie!!!!

    Lee

  • beautiful... I LOVE the lyrics...and some nice pickin if I may add! cheers, meg

  • Thank you, Meg! If you could see the love in the eyes of the two I wrote this for, you'd know why I had to give them something more than a plant or a card or something. Beautiful hearts. You are so kind, Meg, thank you.

    Lee

  • Very Beautiful. It reminds me of someone I knew and the way we felt about each other.

Name of Mike. (Lee you can read some about it on my website. Just click Michael)

  • Thank you, Mike! I'm running way late on following through, but I sincerely appreciate your thoughts! Your friend.

    Lee

p.s. I really like this one too, man.

  • Absolutely a wonderfully written song my friend. You're inspiring me to do more open tuning songs. Was that open D? Loved it! Mark

  • Thank you, Mark! Yeah it's GBDGBD, same as most resonators (or at least mine, ha!). I noticed recently that my hero, Dan Fogelberg used this tuning on "Forefathers." It's a great tuning to do chromatic stuff on and fun and easy to create on, let alone very easy on the ears. Thank you again, Mark! See ya soon, your friend,

    Wes

  • Oops! I lied! It's DADF#AD. Sorry, Mark! Open D, not G, I don't know what the hell I was thinkin'.

    Lee

  • All I can say is WOW.

    Brenda

  • Thank you Brenda! I really like to play this one - lately just outside at night in the swing (with some pretty talented crickets on percussion - lol).

    Your friend, Lee

  • Such a fitting song for Uncle Erv and Aunty Bernice...It brings tears to my eyes, because it reminds me of the love that Grandpa Al and Grandma Mildred had. Everyone was always welcome at the farm, and after visitng more than 3 times, you were no longer company...you were family. I miss them, and mom and dad so much. I so wish I could have been there for the reunion! I promise...I will be at the next one...if you ever want to take a trip out to RI...you are always welcome! Love ya!

  • Sometimes, it only took ONE visit! Most members of our big-and I mean numerous(!)family are fey-they (we) read people uncannily, but are or (were) rarely judgemental. It's always been about love, and I can't imagine any other feelings whether we are all in the same room or miles & miles apart. Love and miss ya li'l cuz,

    Lee

  • what a sweet song, and a beautiful story!! great job!

  • THANKS, SHER! When I played it my aunt & uncles' 50th event, there wasn't an unshed tear by the end. I almost made it thru 'til the word 'fifty', then my voice cracked, but I guess I pulled it off ok. The love in that big, rented hall was tangible, nearly ethereal, kinda made me -everyone, I believe -warm and peaceful inside. Love yuhs,

    Lee

  • Waving at your Aunt and Uncle and Wishing them a happy 50th...Man, that's great!!! Hey you, this is absolutely beautiful and so relate-able (is that a word?) I think we have a romantic, playing here....and a sweet soul. Did you know, that you are, what you write...that's a good thing in your case!! 5 stars and Million for your Aunt and Uncle...precious.

    Yvonne,Bob and Kazandra

    Ava,Illinois

  • I will pass on your kind wishes to Ervin & Bernice when we get up to MT Wed. Thank you kids!!(aren't we all?) for your touching words! I left a comment aboutcha on Desmond's song he wrote for you guys. What a great thing for you to be that appreciated. And PLEASE know I truly appreciate you guys, too. You are wonderful hearts, and are in mine. Your friend,

    Lee
