A public option would save over half a million lives per year... These are people who dont go to the Hospital or buy medication because of the cost. They catch cancers too late or let managable diseases take hold which causes death or amputations, and millions of dollars. A terroist attack at its worst would kill 100 thousand people... and thats with a nuke, an highly unlikely scenario. I say slash the military by 80% to pay for a public option if you really care about Americans!!!

they just launched what is essentially a super sonic inter-continental cruise missile. it allows us to hit any place in the planet with something akin to a cruise missile in about an hour.

Now.. it takes Congress a few months (ok weeks) to decide to go to war.. do we realllly need to be able to place ordnance someplace within an hour while our economy tanks? couldn't we, say, increase the troop's base pay a touch and save that project for when the economy rebounds? *really*

The British Army spends over $300,000 per soldier (statistically speaking), 7 billion dollars to cover 1.5 million active troops alone amounts to not even $500 per soldier.
