Anyone who wants to help local rescue leagues (boston area) can bid on a dinner for four with Terry O'Reilly and Rick Middleton. I understand that there is a certain amount of signed memorabilia included with the dinner package as well. Anyone interested can message me: { conor AT mdc DOT net } for auction info and link. Thanks
Bosox u are an asshole see i have my name next to what i say where u talk tough behind your little handle.screw you Terry Over Cam on my team any day heres a stat for u TERRY has 1000 times more heart than Cam.
@seanmahon101 Notice that you didn't click reply, and just posted a comment because you know I own you bitch. Cam had heart and exponentially more talent. Thst's why he's in the Hall of Fame. The end.
Aaron Rome of the Canucks is damn lucky he plays nowadays. If he had played back then O'Reilly (or Jonathan, Wensink, or Jay Miller) would have made him pay big time for that cheap hit on Nathan Horton. No suspensions back then, justice was more immediate and painful!
@stratovani This is what I don't understand. Compared to what these guys did on a nightly basis, the hit by Rome was the cleanest in the league. I loved O'Reilly, but he was insane. He took on ref's!! I would totally expect O'Reilly to go out and PASTE a Sedin, but condemn Rome's hit, I don't think so.
@BoSoxnation1972 is that supposed to be funny bc its not.He had no pressure on him bc he was as great as Ither.NEELY IS THE MOST OVERRATED BRUIN IN HISTORY AND COULDNT HOLD O'REILLY'S JOCK STRAP
@seanmahon101 Terry was a great Bruin, & led the team in scoring one year with 90 points, but Terry never even scored 30 goals in a season. Neely scored 50 in 44 games on 1 leg against far superior goalies. Neely was a far superior player, although Terry was tougher. Aside from Cam being a much more powerful skater, he had a much better shot than Terry & was a better hitter because of his skating. Terry had 204 goals in 891 games. Cam had 395 goals in 726 games. You know nothing about hockey.
@BoSoxnation1972 --" I hope your dad put his foot in your ass for putting that much pressure on him!"
Lmao...You're right, I remember watching O'reilly play...he sucked at skating but he was always in the mix...fucking scrapper man. Intimidation goes a long way in the NHL especially when you can fight as well as he did...plus he had a screw loose so anyone that fucked with him had to be nuts too...or stupid.
TERRY O' REILLY WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AS ONE OF THE GREATEST HOCKEY FIGHTERS AND PLAYERS 2 EVER LIVE! HE WILL ALWAYS BE REMBERED FOR HIS HARD WORK AND DEDICATION!
Thanks for this. I was born in Boston, and my dad took me to my first hockey game after we moved to California. At a Seals game, O'Reilly scaled the penalty box to go after Krazy George, the original superfan, who had banged his drum in O'Reilly's ear. Unforgettable experience for a young kid! My dads buddy had seats right behind the goal...just found out they cost $5.50
To understand Don Cherry everyone needs to watch this first. Terry was everything you could want from a player in terms of effort. Even his fights made the stuff we have to watch now sleepfests.
If there ever was a player who's play and career could sum up what it means to be a Boston Bruin, it was Terry OReilly. He was tough, played hard, always gave 110% for the team, had heart, and stood up for fellow players. That's why his number will forever hang from the rafter in Boston....he was and is The Essencial Bruin.
@chippasweetcheecks I might agree with you if Neely played a bit longer for the Black and Gold. Neely played 5 almost full seasons, 3 half seasons and two 9 & 13 game seasons. I know it wasn't his fault but that's the hand he got dealt. Terrible Terry did it for 12+ years when hockey was really a tough game with goons and bench clearing brawls. I loved Cam when he played, but he didn't do it long enough. Terry's the man.
Great pieces put together to make this video for a very competitive, tough player who played for the same team year after year.He wasn`t just atough guy but a hardworking good player that was more valuable to a team then the cry-baby,pri-madonna type
I remember when he first came to Boston and got into a fight with Derek Sanderson during practice. My roommate said O'Reily was just a goon. Sanderson ended up on the streets and O'Reily ended up as one of our favorites.
@arcticwanderer2000 People also forget that when Terry first came up he had difficulty skating at the NHL level. He really worked on it and shows what hard and determination can lead to. I never seen another player get so much out of the skill he had. There have been better players but none like Taz!
Terry was a real scrapper on the ice. You don't see great fights like in the day anymore like Terry was in. This was one Bruins player that opposing teams did NOT want to piss off. In fact, Milan Lucic reminds me of Terry a lot, in terms of fighting styles. He just had no problem getting his hands dirty.
Very selective about the scenes from the scraps with Gillies: omitting Gillies pounding him to the ice and making his face look like a train went over it.

That was some move even at today's standards at 153.
People fail to realize that O'Reilly was actually a goalie until age 14 or 15 years old. And he always worked hard.
He also scored some goals in his career.
If he were playing he could command millions.
He was also a great team-mate
