  • back on June 2nd 2011 there was an EF3 in Springfield Massachusettes

  • @lobelix1397 where at in tn?

  • Why do they downgrade the tornadoes when they are saying how strong they are? I never understood that. Wouldn't it be better to err on the more cautious side? It was like during May 3, 1999 in Moore...even after it reached F5 status the dumbasses were saying it was "F3....possibly F4." Just like this one....it's an F5 you dipshit! Saying it's an F3 is giving people a false sense of security and convincing them that they don't need to seek reinforced shelter or cellars...because it's just a "F3"

  • @darkinsdme2 Tornadoes are rated on how bad the damage is, not how it looks. You can't estimate Enhanced Fujita rating just by looking at it, there was a tornado up in Canada in 2007 that looked like an F2, but produced F5 damage.

  • @ehatt600 Hmmmm....yes and no. There has never been a rope F5. They are always at least a half-mile wide. There have been talks of enhancing the Fujita scale even more by including appearance into the estimation. There have been some tornadoes that have been suspected of being very strong but because they hit very rural areas or only grass, their rating was considerably downgraded and there is a world of difference between an F2 and an F4-5.

  • @darkinsdme2 The F5 tornado in Canada reached 1000 feet wide. I saw it last night on "Weather Caught On Camera" and the narrarator said so:)

  • @darkinsdme2 I totally agree. During the El Reno Breakout last year though they were saying it was prob an ef5 and it prob saved alot of lives.

  • @TheMightykaz Thank you. And hell yes....people tend to be a little more....motivated when they find out one of those great, big bastards is coming towards them.

  • Ever since this I have been terrified of severe weather.

  • If there is any video of any coverage from WSFA of the Elmore County tornado that night, on April 27th, please upload it.

  • wow truly recorderd breaking

  • great video. hope this weather doesn't repeat next year!!! Happy New Year, btw.

  • everytime i see the skycam on the news i cant get over that HORRIBLE image from the fateful day

  • wow i survived 2 tornadoes that day one was a EF-4 and the other was a EF-3 it was hailing like CRAZY!!!

  • Wow he doesn't know much about tornadoes. The image he keeps referring to as just another circulation is the MAIN TORNADO. The one he points to as the main tornado isn't. When he first did it I thought he's just getting carried away but he kept doing it.

  • This outbreak will live in my memory, as the day heralded a change in the way Rich presents his storm alerts. For many past years, perhaps through no fault of his own, Rich has presented himself on air as happy and even giddy about severe weather outbreaks. After the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham events, but before the Elmore County event, someone must have taken him upstairs and told him to chill. Ever since that day, he seems to have realized to not seem happy when people might be dying.

  • Hmm... Previous Raycom graphics with the New Raycom graphics for weather.

  • i live in tuscaloosa an tornadoes happens ofthen here in 1997.2000 2003 2005 2011 apr 15 an the 27th

  • I lived in Tuscaloosa while working as an on-camera meteorologist at WCFT-TV Channel 33 (before 33/40). Why live there? It's a BEAUTIFUL place but sometimes we get these outbreaks. April 8, 1998, April3-4, 1974, April 4, 1977 (savage F5), March 21, 1932. This was excellent coverage -- great job at WSFA :-)

  • I was there during the outbreak..I live in Tennessee so we've never seen anything like this often..but luckily no tornados hit our county.but we got a lot of hail though..

  • tusscaloosa is a very torandoy place i have to say :/ why live were torandos FORM!

  • I saw this live as it was happening on WSFA when I just got home from work that afternoon. Then I saw the tornado in Birmingham an hour later! I never thought I'd see the day we'd have this many violent tornadoes. I pray we NEVER have something like this again in my lifetime!

  • Great video clip here...will be a classic video in the future.
