If you look closely at the underside of the tub, it appears to be fiberglass. Plumber's putty probably would be better than the silicone due to the silicone supposedly shrinking (although some modern silicones may not shrink!).
Can you do my jacuzzi? Lower drain and upper overflow are not aligned in a straight line. Do I need to buy one that goes with the jacuzzi or do I need extra pvc pipe and make adjustments?
If she does all pvc or cpvc joints like the way she did this one at :35 she may have leaks. The joints shouldn't be pushed straight together. She does give it a slight turn at the end, but the joints should be turned about 1/4 turn while pushing. She didn't even give it an 1/8 turn. The directions are on the can of solvent.

Don't use silicone for seals, it shrinks over time.

@jn1mrgn Good eye! Makes me wonder, intentional? Probably. The geeky writers probably all have boners for her.

Yes, you turn the joint a 1/4 turn to make sure the glue is smeared evenly between the two pieces and insures an even coat of glue.
